AT THE LAST KHALSA CAMP THERE WHERE DAILY TRIPS TO PAINTBALLING, BUT WHAT YOU GOT TO DECIDE BEFORE YOU GO TO ANY CAMP IS WHAT ARE YOU GOING FOR??? IS IT SO THAT YOU CAN CHILL FOR A WEEK AND DO LOADS OF ACTIVITES ??? IS IT SO THAT YOU CAN LEARN ABOUT TAT GURMAT AND DO LOADS OF SEVA AND SIMRAN AMONGST LIKE MINDED GURSIKHS?

"ANJAAN" <<<YOUR COMMENT IS TOTALLY UNFOUNDED I HAVE BEEN TO KHALSA CAMP HAVE YOU ??? IF YOU HAVE PLEASE SHARE YOUR COMMENTS

SIKHSTUDENT CAMP AND BOSS CAMP ARE GOOD FOR BEGINNERS I.E PEOPLE COMING INTO SIKHI AND GROUND LEVEL, KHALSA CMAP IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE SERIOUS ABOUT SIKHI AND WANT TO PROGRESS WETHER THEY BE AMRITDHARI OR NOT. SO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE ON AT THE SAME TIME IS IRRELEVANT AS THEY ARE AIMED AT DIFFERENT GROUPS. SO IT'S UP TO YOU TO DECIDE WHAT LEVEL YOU ARE AT AND WHAT YOU WANT AND WHATS BEST FOR YOU .

Yes its true, when i went to the sikhstudent camp last year, i was forced to take bhang and sharaab, when i woke up from being unconcious for 4 days (in a comfy hanumaan duvet set) i looked in the mirror and someone had put tilak on my head, instead of having on a bana i was wearing a "jai mata ki" kurta... :)

Mod Note: Lets not take this on a personal level, or a jatha bashing thread, lets keep the posts clean please. If someone does not want to goto a certain camp they can say so, but not put down another jatha.

I think if u take a quick look at the pictures and videos of khalsa camp u can see that there are people from many different backgrounds attending....and u can hear for yourself what they thought of the camp.

Khalsa Camp and sikhi camp are meant to compliment each other, the organisers make sure that they do not clash and actively try and help each other.....

Sikh student camp i have never been to so cannot comment but as they say " a picture says a thousand words....." u can see for yourself on the sikhstudent website....

Sikhi Camp 2005 for European Sikhs

Sunday 1st May, 2005

Fauja Singh - Panthic Weekly Staff

London, England (KP)  -  Sikhi camp has been a constant source of inspiration for young Sikhs since it started almost a decade ago. The camp has provided a chance to meet young Sikhs from all over the UK and Europe.

The Sikhi camp is described by the organisers as a “residential action packed 6 days aiming to create an environment that is unlike anything else out there.”

The aim of Sikhi camp is to bring unity in our community by sharing time and experiences with young Sikhs from all over the UK. Every Sikh is proud of their heritage and wants to learn more but they resent being be preached at.

“We understand this, that's why an average day's activities at the camp is mixed between short talks, discussion groups and then the whole afternoon is full of cool activities like abseiling, rifle shooting, assault courses, playing football and of course: eating chips and beans.”

So who can attend Sikhi Camp? Anyone over 16 who is interested in learning the basics about Sikhi in a friendly, relaxed, non-judgemental  environment. It doesn't matter how religious one is. It's all about how keen you are to learn. “Everyone is Welcome!”

Why should I go? Its only 50 quid for 6 days on a beachfront location wiith the benefit of loads of fun activities and inspirational talks and discussions.

For more information on Sikhi Camp 2005 visit the British Organisation of Sikh Students at www.boss-uk.org and www.sikhicamp.org

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
