A Surprise Visit To Our Local Gurughar

Recommended Posts

aaj as you know was the great day of bandhi chor divas, my day spent in the guru ghar.

the day went as people came and went and i slowly got tired and stopped chugging along, i suddenly came across someone, from seemed to be (judging by the kapra and paag) a namdhari. i managed to take a few good pics of the person, he came into the guru ghar and wanted to do some sewa.

being honest i kind of felt happy to see him, yet i felt sorry for him.

anyhoo, these are the three pics (lol bechara he prob thought i was some twisted sick perv who wanted to take pics and keep them forver...that or he thought i was going to put up a wanted sign for the guy).

anyhow, what do you guys make of this and secondly because of the beliefs namdharis have, should they be welcomed into the guru ghar?

gustaphi maaf

would dhir mal, who claimed to be the ninth nanak, be welcomed by the sangat? naamdharis have their own living guru, isn't

that an insult to guru granth sahib ji? all people are welcome but in the end of the day the naamdharis are working against sikhi. If all sikhs became naamdharis, SGGS would no longer be guru, a dehdhari guru would be our guru.....

It's not as if the guy was preching, and looking to convert from what I can see. Who knows, maybe by going to the Gurdwara this guy might himself realise the identity of the true Guru, so who are we to prevent anyone?

"The teacher of teachers is the One, who appears in many forms"

"There is no one except you" (dear lord)

--------------------------------------

Why differentiate between people when everything is god's doing? What then becomes of good or bad?

Ego and illusion make 'us' judge 'others'

-----------------------------------

"Even the sinners will hold you in contempt"

-----------------------------------

When you see god everywhere, there is no need for discussing these things. Accept and love all... Every path leads to god - all there is is God.

When all is god, water mixing with water... where is the sand rising?

Guest A Singh.

Why would anyone not be welcome in the Gurdwara?

How do you think he felt if he saw you taking pictures of him?

How would you like it if people took pictures of you just because you were a mona?

Namdharis may have views contrary to Gurmat but this does not mean we victimise people, as he had done nothing to you. If you have a serious problem with them then do not associate with them.

well if one says SGGS isnt their guru and a person is.... then you tell me...i thought according to a khalsa ji they do beadbhi of sggs...well i suppose not all of them do.

LOL love the undercover pics though, lol- did he even catch you snapping away??

probably did he probably didnt, i have no idea...but i was amazed to see a namdhari either way. plus i thought sangat would have asked for pics.

How would you like it if people took pictures of you just because you were a mona?

lol i really wouldnt care...id be like YAY im famous (lol joke)

but because i thought he was namdhari (he may have been, he may not have been) i wanted to ask sangat can namddhari come into a panthic guru ghar?

i wanted to ask because i noticed alot of people staring at the guy and doing his chugli, i felt kind of bad for the guy as well, so its why i came on this site and asked.

just curiosity

Hindus pray to idols - SIkhs don't, does that mean that a Hindu is (a) insulting Guru Sahib and (b) therefore no welcome to the Gurdwara?

Christian drink wine as part of their sacrament, Sikhs are not supposed to use alcohol, I assume therefore that means that Christian are (a) insulting Sikh Maryada and (b) thus should not be allowed in the Gurdwara?

...and so on...

...I think people really need to look over their attitudes again on this front. The Namdharis, regardless of their dehdhari Guru, still revere Gurbani (both Granth Sahibs - unlike many of today's so called "Sikhs" who like to pick and choose which bits of Guru Sahib's bani they'll "accept") and are not part of the 5 Mel as per the Akal Thakt.

If he was preaching something contrary to Gurmat whilst in the Gurdwara, then he would be treated like anyone else doing the same doing likewise, Sikh or not.

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
