Serious Concerns For Future Of Punjabi Girls In Uk

Recommended Posts

It seems anytime anyone tries to correct or atleast address the problems with our commuity he is pulled down with accusations of being a taliban or fundamentalist.

If you care about your sikh sisters, and you see some going astray, is it better to just "let them live as they choose", or make an effort to outreach?

Thanks for the posts Sikh Supreme, don't let the cynics get you down.

I do not think it is right to blame Sikhs in the UK

umm this thread is about Punjabi girls in the UK... So of course punjabis/sikhs of the UK are the blame.

prostitues, strip clubs... you name it i have heard of Sikhi boys bragging about it....

What are you trying to say here? Are you saying that Sikhs are into prostitiues/strip clubs?

.. I have lived in Canada for many years and have seen more disgusting behaviour there..... a higher proportion running around with guns thinking they are hard and trendy, behaviong like gagstas............
fighting because they have a large dgroup of people and so think its fun to beat uo some innicent person just because he is black or some other reason......  In cars carrying cowbars, hockey sticks and baseball bats just incase there is an opportunity for fun......... drug deals..............

what more.................?

Yes this is true.......But the topic of this thread is about Sikh/Punjabi girls in the UK not Sikh boys in Canada.

Hello.

In my observation many teenagers and young adults born into Sikh families that cause this kind of 'concern' about the welfare of 'Sikh girls' generally do not identify themselves as Sikhs, but rather as Asians, British Asians or Indians. So it isnt exactly wrong to consider them as non-Sikhs when they dont even identify themselves as Sikhs in the first place unless pressed to.

But i suppose its a different issue for those that do identify themselves as Sikhs but dont actually practice or follow the religion. In my experience it seems that South Asians generally are unable to comprehend the differences between things like culture, religion, nationality and ethnicity. Either that, or for South Asians there is a large grey area or overlap between religious and cultural identities. Probably a mixture of both.

I'll give you an example of what im talking about anyway. I have attached a clipping of an article written by a 'Sikh' girl (ok, a girl born into a Sikh family) that was published in the University of Hertfordshire's student union newspaper (April 2005 edition). Now you decide, is she Sikh or non-Sikh? Clearly, at least to me, she is not a Sikh but an atheist.

By the way, the views of this person expressed in her article i have found to be quite typical of so-called 'Sikh youth' towards Sikhism (girls especially) i have encountered in the UK, particularly students.

Others may have had different experiences.

Regards,

Sikh Supreme

Sikhs treat women like trash. The treatment of women by Sikh men is disgraceful as it is. Do you not think that Sikh men have attitudes that need to be addressed? Like the domestic violence, honour killings, female foeticide through abortion, the sexism of Sikh families, that kind of thing? Or do you think these things are acceptable?

And besides, what do you want to achieve and how are you going to achieve it? Do you suggest leading a mass campaign to chain women and put them in burqa? Then what is the difference between you and the Taliban?

Thirdly, what were you doing on the site, looking at pictures of girls like that anyway?

Anyone else feel things are going from bad to worse and action needs to be taken?

What action do you suggest taking? I would be interested to hear your ideas on what we can do. Its not that I find their behaviour tasteful, in fact I dislike it, but I am really curious as to what action you are thinking you might take? I also wonder why this kind of thing gets people riled up whilst Sikh men are battering women, murdering them, and aborting girls in the womb every single day, without so much as a whimper from lots of Sikh men.

Also, Sikh men these days carry out unhealthy things, including promiscuity, looking at porn, smoking, drinking. Why single out women for action to be taken when Sikh men are just as bad? Or do you overlook them doing it for some reason?

These girls a are disgrace, they need a slap. I also blame r'nb music bollywood and their parents.
