I sent an email to United Sikhs in hopes that they can provide a greater support for these Kaurs who have been victimized by these so called Gianees. But I need their help answering few questions that they asked.

I have modified their questions so they are more direct to those specific individual.

_-----------------------------------------------------------_

If I may request some information from you, as this

information is not generally displayed in the posts:

1) Where are these specific Gurudwaras that these

incidents are occuring. If not, would you be able to

provide the provinces/states and countries that this

is occuring in?

2) Do you know of someone else who has been a victimized by the same Gianee at the same Gurudwara?

3) What have you done in response to this problem

aka. reporting to the police, telling parents, etc.

4) Have you ever met success with approaching

any people/organizations/committees which have

assisted in the situation?

Please Please it is now that you must step forward and Help make some change. We need your Help to stop this from happening again and again to our fellow sisters.

If you do not wish give the info here for everyone to see, then Please email me at Gurinderjit82@hotmail.com ( which I suggest you do )

If you know someone who has been victimized then please respond and email me the Answers above to the questions they have asked, so i can provide a more thorough response and they can have a better idea of what they must do from there.

Here are the emails in their entirety:

Sat Sri Akal

My beloved Gursikhs, I have an urgent request that requires direction and assistant and I hope you are able to provide it. I am not completely sure as to what this organization's exact purpose, but i hope you can point me in the right direction.

I’m a frequent visitor and poster (Pheena) on the SikhSangat.net discussion forum and over the last 3-4 months there have been increasingly number of posts that consist of a rather disturbing nature. In the links below, these Kaurs have brought up something which is a serious problem within the Sikh Community. They have been molested and/or harrased by their local Gianis. I'm not sure if that word should even be used to call them. I only bring this to your attention hoping that you have enough resources to tackle such sickening crimes that have been committed. All I hope for is that you are able to provide a channel for these young women where they can call for help and guidance from a Law standpoint and possibly how to go about the importance of standing against such crimes. If such a connection is already in place then by all means direct me towards it. Perhaps even a webpage on how to deal with such things. I by no means am trying to impose that you guys do all the work, but I am in need of direction. Whatever assistance I can offer I will.

In all of these posts these innocent girls have expressed similar fear of community backlash as these so called Gianis are very much respected in the communities.

http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showto...17378&hl=Gianis

http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showto...12772&hl=gianis

These are just the recent examples and I'm sure there exist further cases where the victim has not come forward. Some might consider this a non-issue as not very many open cases exist. But I cannot help but think that it is the Indian mentality of brushing aside such heinous crimes for the sake of disrespect brought to the family from those who blindly follow such sick individuals. I see this something that must be brought forward to the whole Sikh Community.

If for some reason you are unable to provide some assistance then please I am open to any kind of suggestion as to where to start and who to contact.

Eagerly awaiting your reply.

2) Are the majority of these problems centered in a

certain Gurudwara or Gurudwaras, or is the problem

being reported in a broad geography.

3) What has been done in response to the problems

aka. reporting to the police, telling parents, etc.

4) Have the Kaurs ever met success with approaching

You have made my day Pheena ji.

WHilst everyone else has been running amok about this issue, you have seriously sought a solution.

May Guru Ji keep you, and any Organisation that might be able to help with thier case, in Chardikala and keep you in Guru Ji's 'Sharan'.

Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon. It is such a shame that bibiya have to think twice before going to the Gurdwara which is meant to serve all humanity, through spiritual as well as physical food. A place where when the Sikhs' psyche is in anxiety, she can turn and listen to Kirtan paath....

It is so true that it is typical Punjabi mentality to brush aside problems such as these, existing within our community.

Guru ji tuhanu Chardikala 'ch Rekhey, and let's pray this problem gets solved soon.

The thing i don't get is why all these girls who have faced these people, don't do anything to stop it. They always say "i don't want to tell anyone'...then whats the point of coming on these message boards if you aren't gonna do anything about it? In a way i think it is selfish if you don't tell. You are so worried about what people may think, but have you ever thought that these guys may molest some kid if they are not stopped? But no...we just want to avoid the whole issue all together, and just sit there with our mouthes shut, so these guys can molest all the girls they want.

Lemme ask you a question...if there was some guy doing these horrible things, and you could have stopped him, but did nothing, then how would you feel if a month later he molested a young girl? You could have stopped him, but you didn't, and because of that something bad happened.

STAND UP AND SAY SOMETHING. you are not just doing it for yourself, but for all those innocent girls out there, who could get molested by these guys. Don't live like cowards, running away from the problems in our community, be true daughters of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and do something.

Akal Warrior, I'm sorry to say you've got the wrong attitude.

It is completly understable that young Kaurs don't want to tell anyone. Whether we like it or not, we're froma Punjabi culture. You know how parents are: 'Loki ki kain ge?'

They have all the right in the world to come as anonymous persons who want advise from their Sikh Sisters and brother.

I agree that they should stand up and say, but this does not mean that they reveal their name and everything on a public forum.

Bhenjis who have been subjected to this behaviour of the so-called gianis, please email Pheena Bhaji personally, or PM him if you feel that you cannot reveal above infor (answers to ques) on this forum.

My dear sisters,

Ok I will ask this once again from everyone, pray.gif

If it had been at work and he was a fellow worker I am presuming that u would say something that, that sort of behaviour is not acceptable.

To your fellow female workers? Your boss? Your sisters? The cleaners?

Somebody? Anybody ?

i/we can not help any one who says he doing this/that if u don’t tell us where u are !!!

next time I’m going to start a topic “help I’m getting bullied”. and so many people will want to help but I wont tell them where!!!!

can u see the frustration !? :@ @

u are not alone there are good people out there who will help!!

u never know your brother/sister may even attend to help them and find it sad u never told them. :TH:

maybe if these "gianis" got out of their rooms given to them by the gurdwaras they would see the world and not be so inclined to behave badly with the first bibi they see every sunday at the diwaan.

why don't sikhs have a clergy?

because you end up having these people who live in guru ghars, do kirtan on sundays and then have nothing to do but chill in their rooms all day at guru ghars. They need to get out and see the world. Live life.

You can't just recite gurbaani you gotta go into the world and live it. A lot of these "gianis" who molest women stay at guru ghar rooms 24-7.

anyways, good luck man.
