You know not jumping to any conclusions but do you think its localised to certain areas of England...maybe like people with abstract views settle in largly asian areas...just speculating but if so then any sort of effort should be concentrated to reaching them parts. hmmm.

I think it is concentrated in the Mirpuri and Bangladeshi Sylheti community, mostly in working class families probably with high corresponding factors related to education levels etc. Having said that I do know that there have been cases in the Sikh community of it happening, and it is something shameful indeed.

They interview Jasvinder Sanghera who is a Sikh woman from Derby who escaped a forced marriage when she was a teenager and runs a womans refuge.

Its aboout British Asians that back honour kilings, NOT British Sikhs or Muslims.

Also, the thing that stands the asians our from the gora is how our RELIGION is inherently tied in with our CULTURE.

Hinduism in India is a way of life, a culture and not just a religion.

Sikhi is also tied into the culture of being a British Sikh.

Islam is VERY MUCH tied into their culture.

One could argue the West doesnt have a mix between religion and culture. But if you are taking about Asians, it's inevitable that you will bring in religion when discussing their culture as there is a VERY FINE LINE defining religion and culture.

I'll definately have a look at the links...just that I still reckon a bigger survey should be done before the one in ten figure.

I honestly don't know anyone who would support honour killings apart from Akhoza but thats just a net person and i reckon he/she is joking. You see the figure says that everyone should know someone....i honestly don't. It may be because I associate with a different circle though.

I'm really suprised to hear about the sikhs doing it. Its like you know sati of the wife and that...in general i thought this sort of stuff had been wiped out in sikhism..but yeah like you say could be culture and religion being confused by people. I know that no religion encourages such behaviour though.

Education might have something to do with it though...like no offence to any mirpuris but alot of my mirpuri friends were abit 'dumb' but in general i'm kinda a person who gets along with everyone so never really bothered me. They never were like we should do honour killings though......however they very much were into marrying their cousins...keeping the wealth in the family and all that....maybe it happens to those people who try to step put of the traditions of their culture.....but like don't these studies say its young people who are doing it??

You know your so young...cannot believe you think like that...but probably me just thinking 'old' people think wrong. Tbh i would firstly hope i raised them in a sikhi way of life that they felt no need to be in a porn movie. If however my children hurt me i would never be that upset to kill them.

Im 18 plus im talking about real life experience i have seen this sort of stuff happen no wonder im mentioning it but if you can be that tolerant of your childrens actions then i think your crazy :T:
