it mentions hindu 'gods' in bani and actually does praise them...

i was watching channel 4 the other day and there was this program where this 'goraa' went to india 2 check out some hindu 'ashrams'(a place where hindus go 2 learn more about their religion) and they said that they believe in ONE god, the idols just help them 2 get to god... and that their religion isn't a 'religion' its a way of life... just as sikhi Guru Maharaj Guru Granth Sahib jee is helping us reach the all mighty!

So in a way our religion is similar to theirs... In my eyes...

P.S im goin 2 get alot of stick from u people now but 'grrrrrrr; bring it on :umm: :e:

Where does Gurbani praise hindu gods?

instead Gurbani tells us the faults of those hindu "gods" and tells us why they failed.

I tell that to people all the time that Gurbani refers to sindu gods as telling us not to put faith in them because they had to go through birth/death which makes them unable to be God, because God is ever living ever fearfull ever sure SatNam Waheguru.

Pay attention to why Gurbani refers to the pointless worship of sindu gods.

At first when I started to study Sikhi I was like "hindu stuff what?" but then I understood what Gurbani was teaching about other religions {jew, muslim, sindu, jain, buddha} and how they are humanly going about rather than spiritually going about with their pooja.

Me not being a Sikh is like a muslim eating pork and a sindhu eating beef

I frankly do not understand this furore over Vandemataram, I studied in a school run by a Christian society and used to sing Vandemataram whenever it was sung. It was usually sung on a particular day of the week or month initially, and later became more random following no fixed pattern. (there are some schools in India, esp some hinduised ones and some army/military run ones who sing it on a more regular basis).

I can also see that Shia muslims have no problems in singing it, only the Sunni muslims seem to be making a lot of noise over the song because it was composed during the Bengal movement when the hindus in Bengal rose against some Nawab over there who was a Sunni.

I used to sing this song initially, in my younger days, full of curiosity to understand what it was all about. But the dull pace of the song always made me loose blood pressure and always make me fall asleep. Later on whenever it was sang, I used to fall asleep. During my school days whenever I couldn't get any sleep, I used to sing/remember this song in my mind as was sung on AIR in those days and instantly fall asleep.

I thought "Jan Gan.... then it goes Punjab Sind gujrat maratha..." something something is the national song??

Anyway.. Sikhs celebrated way too much events this year with perfect counting like.. 400 sallan(years), 300 salan, 500 salan etcc.. So like in history.. indians tend to copy everything from its sikh community.. so when they couldn't come out with anything good as they don't have any but anyway they looked pretty hard to dig something out and at the end they found the 100th anniv. of this Vande Matram song and there you go... so you know what i am talking about???

Anyway i would care less if some one sings this song or not as it's their own choice...
