huh? i dont get it :D :D what do i have to do...sorry lol please explain...

As an individual constituent of the UK, the recommended instruction given from the campaign is as follows:

We urge all Sikhs in the UK to write to their MP's & MEP's for this purpose a standard letter has been drafted and is attached. Please improvise and amend letter with your own details, etc. to make it look different. To get the contact details of your MP please visit www.parliament.uk and if you don't know who your MP/MEP's are then please go to www.writetothem.com where you simply enter your postcode and you will be told who your MP/MEP's are.
  1. Go to www.WriteToThem.com and type in your postcode to get your list of MEP's and your MP.
  2. Copy the following:
    Dear …. (Insert MP's/MEP's name)
    Re: Panjab Singh also known as Paramjeet Singh Dhadhi
    British National – resident of Wolverhampton
    I write to express my concerns in relation to the arrest and detention of the above named in Punjab, India. Mr Singh is a British subject and was arrested along with two Indian Nationals, Mr Amolak Singh and Mr Jaswinder Singh on 23 December 2006, by Punjab Police. Mr Singh and his co-accused were arrested on charges of alleged terrorism and were accused of seeking to cause unrest in the Punjab.
    Having followed media footage and knowing of Mr Singh who is a Sikh Preacher, it is clear that Mr Singh is not a 'terrorist'. He was simply enjoying a vacation, together with his wife, granddaughter (aged 3) and family and friends. Mr Singh was due to return to the United Kingdom on 27 December 2006.
    The three Sikhs have been arrested under mysterious circumstances and the police story has many gaps and variations which indicate that the situation has been fabricated. There are many loopholes in the evidence and assertions of the police in this matter, which will be exposed in the defence cases of the accused.
    I am also extremely concerned for the welfare of the two Indian nationals who were arrested with Mr Singh. They are Amolak Singh and Jaswinder Singh. Both are innocent persons, who were tortured by the Punjab Police, who sought a confession from them. Not only is this gravely unjust but a direct violation of their civil rights. Amolak Singh stated on national TV (Zee News) as he was leaving court, that the Police were trying to force him to sign a confessional statement admitting he was involved in criminal activities, despite the fact that he had stated to them that he was innocent.
    I write to request that you make representations on my behalf to the Foreign Office, setting out my concerns and the need for intervention in this matter. Mr Singh is presently being detained and it is imperative that he be released as quickly as possible. Furthermore, it is fair to say that such matters have been ongoing for many years, whereby the Punjab Police fabricate charges against innocent persons for their own financial or political benefit. It is also the case that Mr Singh was tortured whilst in police custody, he declared this on national TV (Zee News). This poses an uncertainty for any British subject who now seeks to travel in Punjab, as if this matter is not addressed by the Foreign office, it sends a clear message to the Punjab Police that they can arrest and torture British subjects and not have to deal with their illegal actions. This is something which directly affects all Punjabi's and Sikhs in the UK and indeed around the world.
    I would like you to make delegations to the Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett and the Indian High Commission (India House Aldwych London WC2B 4NA) requesting that:
    1) Panjab Singh (also known as Paramjeet Singh Dhadhi), Amolak Singh and Jasvinder Singh are all given a fair trial, without unnecessary harassment and/or torture;
    2) That the accusations of torture be investigated by an independent inquiry;
    3) That dialogue be maintained throughout the proceedings to ensure justice.
    I look forward to hearing from you in respect of the above and should be grateful if you would forward to me copies of the representations you make to the Foreign Office and Indian High Commission.
    I thank you in anticipation of your co-operation in this matter.
    Yours truly,
  3. Click on your MP, fill in the details and paste the above letter into the box where you can send a message to your MP (editing the letter slightly by inserting your MP's name at the top and your own name at the bottom).
  4. Do the same for your MEP's which can be found on the same page where your MP was found (although all the replies Dhaas has received from the MEP's have said that this is out of their influence and your local MP must be contacted, not MEP).

Hope this helps...

handcuffed-01.jpgCampaign to Free British Sikh Gathers Pace

On Sunday, 10,000 Postcards were printed by Sikh Federation (UK) and distributed to various towns in the UK. Sikhs not just in the UK but across the world, in the rest of Europe, USA, Canada, etc. are urgently asked to download the postcards and send them to MPs, or the contacts given on the card to build pressure and awareness of the false arrest and torture of the three Sikhs.

The Sikh Federation (UK), Sikh Secretariat, Khalsa Human Rights, Voices For Freedom, Lawyers for Human Rights International (LHRI), and political and human rights organisations in the UK, USA, Canada, Panjab and a number of countries in mainland Europe are calling for the immediate release of three Sikhs arrested by the Panjab police on 23 December. The three Sikhs being held are Parmjit Singh, Amolak Singh and Jasvinder Singh and state to have committed no crime and are being held on fabricated charges.

Bhai Amrik Singh said: "We are aware the British authorities have taken serious note of the lack of access, the use of torture and falsification of medical reports to try and hide the actions of the police. The actions of the Panjab police are totally unacceptable and have been exposed."

Small versions of the postcards can be seen below:

i sent about 24 letters and got everyone in family n friends to sign the template n sent em to both the high commissionser n the foreign secetary.

we need to make people more aware , n make a template poster up to put in gurudwaras.

That is excellent work and a very good example.

The Sikh Federation (UK) printed postcards should now have reached all main towns/cities in your local Gurdwara Saahibs.

As they were given out on Sunday, it is likely Sangat will see them around more by the coming Sunday…

Sorry for not replying to this thread earlier. Whether we are sending e-mails, letters, postcards or whatever to support this cause, it would be good for everyone to keep posting something on this thread. As Tarunjeet Singh stated, this should be our number one topic at the moment. The busier this thread gets the more people will action something. We are lucky that we have some Sikhs/Groups who have the knowhow to take the right actions to free the 3 Singhs. Let's all follow their instructions!!!

This Campaign should be what we now focus our energies on! Once again I am sorry I took so long to reply to this thread.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
