Jaap Sahib

Just wanted to add a bit of clarification.

As stated earlier, DDT Pothis don't add/subtract any "lagamataran", everything is copied from puratan granths. Although, since there are several Sri Dasam Granth Sahib versions (each with slight variations, nothing substantial), even DDT pothis have variations in some words.

What is worrying is when organizations start printing Gurbani adding lagamatran using NO puratan granth, but their own budhi (ie, using the "viakaran"(grammar) argument).

Although Taksal keeps Gurbani "as-is", this does not mean that pronounciation is "say-as-it-is-written".

Taksal santhyia teaches where bindi's need to be sounded, where words need to said softly or with stress, where to put the "vishraam", etc.

Gyani Takhur Singh Ji (currently a very famous Vidhvaan from the Taksal) pronounces the jajja in certain words in Jaap sahib as zazza (where the word is of persian origin) in their Nitnem Santhyia DVD. Other Taksali students pronounce it as jajja. So there is diversity even within hte Taksal.

SGPC gutke sahibs are modified to how we say it today, you'll probabaly hear most people from sgpc or like people who haven't gotten proper santhiya done say that pauree that ur talking about with z but it should be sed with a j, when u take santhiya you'll realize how big a difference it really makes in the pronounciation cuz the meaning changes

so lets say in about 20 -30 years supposingly the panjabi community start to say words a bit differently, does that mean the sgpc will change the gutka sahibs again to suit the way ppl speak? . . . bani shud remain as its written in puratan saroops

exactly, they will change it.. thats what im saying, keep it the same way it is written in puratan saroops and gutke sahibs.. sgpc is madd corrupt.. they change maryada n stuff jus so more people will join the panth, but whats the real use of them joining the panth when they don't follow it.. know what i mean.. sgpc is only changing <admin-profanity filter activated> so more people join so in numbers sikhs look good compared to other religions etc . when i went to india i attending one political sgpc meeting and i got most of this from there styll

Theres no such thing as an "SPGC gutka", it may have been published by them, and if it was then its most like the gutka majority of the Panth goes by.

There's no bindhee's in the original Saroops.

But that doesn't mean you don't pronounce it...

For example, when Sher Mohammad Shah would write something-it would be written Ser Mohammad Saah-but everyone would use common sense and pronounce it Sher Mohammad Shah.

Also, in Ardaas-do you say 'Sree Harkrisan Dhiaaeeai'? That's also BaaNee, but you use common sense-you know its pronounced Krishan so you say Krishan, not Krisan.

There is countless examples where one needs to use common sense and add Bindheeaa.

in Japjee Sahib, Jinee Naam Dhiaaiaa Gae Mashakat Ghaal.....its written MASKAT, we say MASHAKAT...maskat wouldnt make sense

In Chaupaee Sahib, Guroo Sahib refers to Shiv, its written Siv...it makes sense to say SHIV

'Lakh Khusheeaa Paathshaaheeaa Jae Sathigur Nadar Karae'...Khuseeaa and Khusheeaa means very different things...by trying to pronounce it as written, most of the time, you are actually doing Beadhbaee of GurbaaNee...
