Sarabloh, you are right, we discuss very little Sikhi amongst ourselves.

How many times I have gone to a function - wedding / langar / birthday party / paath etc and when the guys get together - be it old or our generation - Sikhi is never discussed, they talk about politics, about buinesses, about the state if the Punjab at most they will vent anger at the Gurdwara committies but that is it. Rarely do we discuss gurbani, sikhi jeevan, how to engage with the young etc.

I think we need to engage with the youth and it has to be in the Sunday morning dewan,. If it is done weekdays then not many will come as a special effort would be required. Engage as all are sat in the dewan on sundays.

Just a half-hour talk in English, with questions from the sangat and I am sure many people will feel engaged and involved.

Ask the kids to put forward questions and concerns and answer then in the dewan.

So come on out there, there must be some committee members out there , cannot this be done ?

do we really need committee members to simply TALK about Sikhi? We can do this with or without their help i think (although it would be easier if they helped) what we need to do is get the sevadaars together (i know theres loads) get groups together and simply get it done... hat else needs to be said? it's quite simple

We need to take some hard steps. This is what i posted in the other thread which is closed:

We need to stop using their businesses and their other services .....i had stopped using their buisness services an year ago, we simply don't need to fund them in any wayand make them stronger financially so that same money ca be used for our destruction. My family (khalsa panth) and my sisters (sikh girls) are dearer to me rather than these so called friends who donate money to 'eliminate kuffar' by any means. Do u have idea how dawah centres get money????

Our youth should stay in our circle....even in universities and localities. We should stop socialising with them, don't hate them coz it's against gurmat, but that doesn't mean make friends with them, just ignore them. Socialising with them is plainly making ourself available to these ppl and inviting them to try on ourselves ( i m speaking frm my personal experiences)

Trust and respect our people who have concerns and not make it a habit cricticise them. Back them up instead, address them if they are wrong somewhere rather than discarding them as extremists or fanatics. Remember only these extremists or fanatics rise up to the occasion and stop beadbis.

Infuse sikhi spirit in ourselves and not asian or indian pride. This is where we get back stabbed. Muslims like to be our panjabi brothers and exploit us and hindus do the same by being our hindustani brothers. We are race apart from others. And for god sake stop calling ourselves indians, our target is khalistan. Boycott filthy bollywood and idiotic punjabi music......they simply corrupt our youth. Boycott these gigs, club culture etc this is where our girls are targetted. Our youth should pull fellow youth towards sikhi and gurdwaras. We need to boycott following bipran ki reet ourselves in all small and big forms . This is why we become weak.

We need to do GARAM PARCHAAR. We need to be brave, outspoken and clear in our views. We don't need to say indirectly like cowards "some religious fanatics target our youth" we need to name them openly in congregations and say "muslim fanatics target our youth, and we won't tolerate this rubbish" and we gotto make statement loud and clear and answer fire with fire. We need to make a national organisation of singhs and singhnis specially for this purpose so that harrassed girls have someone to turn to rather than surrender to these fanatics in hopelessness and we need to throw a challenge "u dare harrass our girls and get ready to face the music". We need to take a tough stance....things have gone quite far now. Remember !!!!!! If we don't stop it it's NEVER gonna stop. The choice is ours.

The easiest way is to be the sangats voice, afterall its the sangat that does the seva, not the kursiwale.

Believe it or not, but a little optimism and action (not talk) can go a long way.

Pahji I agree with you on a LOT of what you say...however, if we just throw ourselves in and basically TELL people what to do , do you think they'll listen? (genuine question) also, if we start small, find our places within the sangat and gain trust of the corrupt committees, perhaps our voices will be heard and we wont be name extremists with no cause like i know a lot of the people who attended the rally in southall who protested against sohi etc. we need to egt on the good side and do this tactfully

heres my 5cents worth.......

last week with maharaj's kirpa i went to the lesta sikhi camp and OH BOY it was fantastic..............but u knw wot the best thing was...............the chardi kalah sewadars organised everything themselves by putting togther a 10th of each of their earings to support the langer, godgy bags for the kiddies etc..........i had never seen anything like it and it was very inspiring to see.....

This to me is a prime example of wot a group of people can achieve by coming together............i was there of the day they were teaching the kids about Guru Arjun Dev Jee Maharaj's Saheedi and me being the oldest there, learned thiongs i did not knw..............things were explained clearly and simply and with so much pyaar and the kids were having an absolute blast.............(AND MEEEEEEE)

if each city/town could organise and support camps like this by simply offering the 10% of the saleries we are helping the Child Generation of Sikhi to become closer to thier Faith and Practising the TRUE ESSENCE OF SIKHI

Waheeegguuurrruuu! I had the exact same experience! I recently went to a camp for children and I learned so much, it was unbelievable. There was no politics, no bickering, no complaining, no arguing, everyone had a common goal; to experience sikhi and work towards the betterment of the Panth. To me, this was proof and a prime example of how we only need a handful of dedicated, chardikala Gursikhs to make things happen, the rest is all in the sangats hand (who believe it or not, do want change).

As a kathavachak once said, "Sikhs never demanded positions as they do today, a Sikh used to be given a positions because he/she deserved it"
