Wheelchairs In Temples

We have just been declined by a local temple to bring a disabled person into the darbar sahib by wheelchair.

What are others views on this. How do we expect a person who is disabled to worship if they are outcast from our temples.

What makes me laugh is that by law, disabled people are protected against such discrimination with the Disability Discrimination Act but our place or worship doesn't see it fit to give such people solace, when they may be in dire need of it.

A kathakaar is currently in UK still i believe... he had no legs, and was in a wheelchair. However, he left his wheelchair OUTSIDE the darbaar and "crawled" with what he had towards Maharaj. It was so emotional and beautiful to see.

Maharaj, take my limbs, but please PLEASE Maharaj... i always want to be able to do your darshan...

In india, we see criples and disabled people crawl to see maharaj because thats the love they have.

If we truly want to see maharaj, we will get on our hands and knees if need be to see him.

Wen i was young, a boy had a bad disability, he cudnt walk properly so his parents used to hold him while he walked, if he didnt have the support of another, he wasnt able to stand. He wud walk in or crawl in. Once, at a nagar keertan, he came in the wheel chair, he REFUSED to use it. He said why should he be able to sit and be pushed the way, he wants to walk. Normally he wud take the chair but this particular year he didnt. (remember i sed, he cudnt walk without the aid of another, and with that, it was a very slow pace..)

He CRAWLED the length of the nagar keertan as he has so much pyaar for maharaj.

I personally believe any chair or seating higher then the floor is incorrect in a darbaar. People can get darshan, Gurdwara where i reside, they keep the doors open so people can sit outside on chairs if need be and stil get darshan / listen to keertan / paath / keertan.

In puratan days, they had no wheel chairs, so why do we need them to see Guru Ji? People had disabilities then to, its just we expect everything here coz its england and the law ensures disabled access.

Gurdwaras do provide disabled access, flat entry to the doors, lifts where applicable. But they DONT need to change the darbar. Maharaj knew everything, why is it so difficult for us to come to terms with that? he knows the future, he IS the future..

I apologise if people find this post upsetting, but we expect to much coz we live in the western world. If we lived with the basics, we wudnt complain, we wud get around it. We just think we are better then Guru Ji now, seriously that is in effect the way we are.

What about someone who cannot crawl?

What if they are quadraplegic?

What about someone who cannot sit on the floor?

My point wasnt that its a solution for everybody, but i would rather crawl (like this kathakaar did) into darbar sahib than sit on a wheelchair higher than everyone else, and possibly even Guru Granth Sahib Jee.

Where there is a will... a longing to see Guru Jee with the utmost nimratta, Guru pyaario, there is surely a way because Maharaj will not let His Gursikh down.

I am pretty sure that Gurdwaras can come up with a solution to help disabled people a lot better. I think all Gurdwaras should look into it rather than not bothering. To be able to provide such a facility would be such a mahaan seva... to help give someone darshan of Maharaj is such big seva.

Carry them and lye them down on the floor with their feet away from maharaj. We manage it with babies. And many a time.. those individuals do not leave their bedside as transporting is very difficult.

Ultimatley, we have blind faith. The Guru is the Shabad, if we listen to the shabad, we have Darshan.

If a person is so severly ill and wants darshan, call 5 pukha rehit vale to your home, in Bana, thiyaar Bithyaar, and have them do ardaas for the person. They will get darshan of maharaj then.

Look at the power of the Guru, not the smallest detail to make life so easy.

Did a blind man not cry as he was unable to see maharaj? Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji travelled HIMSELF to see this man and gave him the gift of sight, the man looked in no other direction then Guru Ji as he didnt want to look at anything else, he then requested his sight be taken away again as he had seen true beauty. He never wanted to see anything else which cud take that away (ie kaljug).

IF we have the belief, then no matter the situation, maharaj will come to you themselves.

    • the whole 'your husband/wife is chosen for you'/sanjog thing is real, it's just that a lot of people end up marrying the wrong person. they did not end up with the person that was meant for them. my friend, you should marry someone who you feel a connection with and love. there are millions of sikh girls, i'm sure you can find someone who aligns with your sensibilities and who you can truthfully say that you love. sikhi does not say anything against love marriages. you can also be in a loveless arranged marriage which is a safe option b/c both families are more inclined to keep the union intact. i was one of those people who was like meh, i guess i'll just get arranged to some sikh. well i finally started dating for the first time this year and i'm getting married to someone that i love and cannot even imagine leaving. i think it's better to have lost & lost than never loved at all. unfortunately, a lot of people confuse love w/ looks & lust. a lot of men go for the fittest girl they can find and think they won the jackpot or something. in reality, your partner should be like an extremely loved best friend. there's a reason why it's a fact that the most stable and long-lasting relationships started as friendships.  i also think a lot of women are petty and divorce over small reasons, but there's other terrible things like high cheating rates as well. that's why the divorce rate in the west is high. be careful out there.
    • andrew tate praises sikhi too & likes sikhs. his brother also donated to sikh families iirc. they just like any "alpha" religion and tbh islam is the most "alpha" in their eyes. islam is very good at promoting that image. but imo a real alpha man doesn't command respect by beating up his wive(s) or forcing them to wear a burqa. a real man will have his woman listen to him w/o raising a hand or his voice, and command respect by being respectful. he leads by example and integrity. that's true masculinity. you get the idea. + yes, it's definitely true that islam is growing rapidly and making massive inroads. strength in numbers + belief will do that. but rlly it's just because of the birth rate. a lot of them are muslim b/c it's their "identity" just like how a lot of young sikhs will say they're "culturally sikh" or whatever. there just aren't billions of sikhs who lambast their identity everywhere and have strict and linear rules like in islam. besides, the reality is that islam and its followers are some of the most morally bankrupt. you can see all the weird trans rules in iran, bacche baazi in afghanistan, visiting brothels, watching p*rn, p*dophilia what goes on behind the scenes in countries like uae & qatar, etc, and come to your conclusions. you can google all the stats yourself and see which countries do the most of these ^.
    • stop associating with hinduism, that's the absolutely worst thing you can do as a sikh. not sure if you noticed but the entire world looks down upon and spits at india & hindus, literally no one respects them and considers them weak and cowardly. literally 1+ billion of them but not perceived as a strong religion commandeering respect.
    • you wrote a whole lot but told us nothing. what exactly did you do wrong to make you feel this way?
