Sikhitothemax Or Similar On Iphone

Recommended Posts

Fateh!

I was wondering if there is any web based application I can use on my iPhone for Gurbani searching. I can use SikhiToTheMax.com, but the Gurmukhi font doesn't show up. Anyone know how to get the font on the iPhone or can somebody create some type of program for the iPhone?

Thanks!

Fateh!

Problem most programmers are having is that the iPhone doesn't support Gurmukhi yet, should be a way to hack it in, but as yet it does not. Which is odd because all macs now have the Gurmukhi Unicode Support ਿਜਸ ਤਰਾ ਤੁਸੀ ਦੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾ।

I've been looking on the app store and came across iQuran... and readable Quran on the iPhone/iPod Touch by chapters. I guess a good place to start may be along these lines starting with nitnem maybe? or a slow release of gurbania thru updates? ive finally been able to activate my iphone dev program. but dnt get ur hopes up cuz im really lame at programming, but i will try and put something together and if it is akaal purakhs will he will allow me to do this seva.

is it the typing you are having problems with or is it the programming side?

I havnt started anything yet, but I cant see it being too difficuilt to write an app. I primarily specialise in .net c# 3.5 asp.net on the windows platforms, but i have experience using javaand c++ aswell. its all the same really, just different syntax to do the same thing. I was just saying, if i had access to the sikhitothemax database or even the solution files for the existing version, i could easily create a version for the iphone. All the hardwork has been done in creating the original version, no need to reinvent the wheel.

K, not long ago I contacted STTM team and they were willing to help, I will e-mail bhaji today too... but aren't we gonna have a problem displaying gurbani, the iphone does not yet support gurmukhi fonts, although I can get unicode to display. Plus, don't bother purchasing another iphone developer program, as I already have one, theres no point purchasing too huna? hopefully, with akaal purakhs kirpa, this seva shouldn't be too hard.

ps. i am lame on the programming side but i can do all the provisioning and readying to deploy it to the app store.

    • haha im called a fundamentalist, and I haven't even taken amrit yet  "tu ta bada kattar aa yaar"  these things are why we are behind (especially intellectually, while we have puratan records, and we should be grateful for how much we have preserved, but I think most of would do anything to go back in time and record everything ourselves)
    • We sometimes forget how lucky we are!  Just today, a Pakistani guy who I went to school with, is now on drugs and he approached me asking me if I have any spare change. He looked mentally unstable, but still recognised me        Really sad ...
    • Same, I don't really tell my family what they should do or what they shouldn't. They can believe in what they want to believe. Though if they do something which I don't agree with, and it offends me, then I tell them. For example, how people started carving their names in karas!  I told my family in India that I'm strongly against that, and that it goes against what I believe. For a minute they were like "oh yeah, that's true, its wrong to do that" and then they went straight back to talking about getting their names carved in karas!  Other than that I've never given my opinion! When I go India they take me to all the odd places that they worship at, but I just pretend that I'm praying, lol
    • coming back to original topic, sikhi isn't restricted to India, but is the atal sach of the whole jag, we just got to preserve it for the next mahapurkhs and sant sipahis do not lose heart
    • does sangat here think nihangs were corrupted by the time sgpc came into being their history is very incoherent during british raj, from being wiped to verge of extinction by british after battle of sabraon and emigrating to sri hazur sahib, to being in control of sri akal thakt and fighting for sikh  rights to bear arms  many say nihangs retained a presence in the akal bunga, but then how can they let mahants place idols inside parkarma, let british set sri darbar sahib up for auction in 187?, or let discrimination against dalit war veterans from entering sri darbar sahib, etc.  what are your thoughts on baba sahib singh ji and his encounter with sgpc
