Triangle In Turban

Hi,

I am curiousity of what the triangle in turbans of Sikhs is meaning and why many create the triangle. does any soul know the cultural, religious, and/or spiritual importance of it.

I want to know:

Paintings of the Guru (albeit inaccurate) do not have a "triangle" in the turban. Many mahapurshes also do not tie turban so as to create a "triangle".

I have heard that the front of the forehead should be covered by the turban, which means that there should be no triangle.

I still have not conclusion or any close idea as to why the triangle is in existence of turban. I am to do a lecture in my english class as I am a professor of english/history and I want to discover the historical important.

The triangle is merely a style. In order to achieve the Patiala-Shai look when you wrap the turban it's done at an angle. The front looks best when a triangle is there.

As for the front needing to be covered - it usually is by wearing a 'fiffty' underneath.

Gol Dastaar is nice, however triangular turban has aerodynamics and allows one to flee from assaults in a quicker more stealthier fashion which is helpful.

The triangle also represents that if you look at it as an arrow ^ it is a triangle, however the arrow is always pointing up represent the ALMIGHTY LORD thus pointing to the one who we should be remembering. Therefore it is a rememberence to look up and remember there is an ever prevailing source of life.

That is completely incorrect. PLEASE, nobodie should take into account what this individual has told us. there is no cultural or historical proof that the triangle points to the ALMIGHTY lord. There is no factual evidence therefore what you have posted is incorrect.

I have spent the last 4 hours looking for sources and I have scouted a whole library on the issue. I have also telephoned many educational sources in INDIA and they have all concurred that you are incorrect. Perhaps you had a vision that the traingle represents an arrow however I do not think thats it.

we have to keep a clear mind and research all sources.
