Amazing Sikhi

We all need a little moan every now and then, and sometimes its good to get it out of your system. But come on guys, all this talk about sikhi on the down is garbage! How can the path that leads to vaheguru be on the down?! People practising the faith may not be following it properly and be acting like hypocrites and fakes etc, but the path cant be on the down can it!

Its down to our perceptions and how we see things. The pessimistic mind will see negativity, the optimist will see positivity, some may argue that the realist sees reality (but is reality itself real?)

Of course the panth has problems, but if we let these get us into some depressed mood, we are only going to add to the problems.

There's various threads on why sikhi is going down and people are having a nice old moan, which is fine.

I'll offer an alternative view, I have recently met some amazing singhs who are a shining example of what walking on the path of sikhi is.

I have seen singhs wake up in the morning and sing their nitnem out loud, nice and slow and with real love. they said that they don't do their nitnem because of maryada or rehat, they said they do it because they have ishq with gurbani (have fallen in true love with gurbani).

I have seen whole families reading their own individual sehaj paths and having to try and sneak in a few hours extra reading whenever the other members are out of the house!

I have seen singhs who have sold everything they own and taken on so much debt just so that they can do seva for the children of the panth. when i mean everything, i mean everything.

I have seen singhs do so much fikar and give the panth so much pyar that they end up sleeping only 2 hours a night and had almost all of their kesh and dhari fall out because of the strain they put on themselves, you can ring the singh day or night with any problem and he's never to busy to help.

These might be small pointless examples to others, but they are in inspiration to me, and show me the true message of guru sahib is living in these gursikhs. We usually get depressed and sad when our nitnem isn't as good as it should be, or when our sangat is with the people who maybe we need a break from. So lets trying changing these things as well. If we only look at the negativity around us, then that is what we will become, if amongst the negativity you see the pearls of maharajh and you look closely at them, then it is like them that you will become.

Sikhi is amazing and will always remain so. Nobody can change that.

A singh told me recently that sometimes we need to do what we need to do and that includes pointing our right from wrong, but whilst doing so never forget to look at yourself FIRST, DURING and AFTER pointing at others. So before we start moaning (as we allllll do!) lets look properly in the right direction (i.e. inwards).

Of course... of course there are positives in Sikhi bro.

People will say "yeh but concentrate on the positives" but in my opinion, we need to concentrate on the negatives to see where we are going wrong and expand and build them into positives because, negative issues are cropping up more n more in Sikhi, and people just sweep them under the carpet, but these issues need resolving.

And yes, i too have met Gursikhs, chardhi kalaah Gursikhs, who i wish i was the dust off their feet myself, but my view is that those who have got to such a level are already there and will most likely (and with His grace) stay there. But we are ruining Sikhi for the youth bro. By not allowing a school to have darshan of Guru maharaj... by disallowing nagar keertans... by not creating true sangat for them where they feel they can talk openly about issues and not have someone look down on them.

people may disagree and say we shud concentrate on the positives. But if we r going to get anywhere, we need to concentrate more on the negatives and cancel them out. And this isnt a moan n groan on a forum without a reason ... i hope others in other areas where Sikhs are beginning to populate can learn from this and build a much stronger community and show us idiots in the UK where have and are goin wrong

Sometimes I see more Sikhi in people who are not even Sikhs than people who call themselves Sikh. AK47 you are so lucky that Akal Purakh has physically shown you real examples of true Sikhs. I thought I met a few in my life but later become disillusioned by some of their actions and attitudes towards others. But maybe that's my bad karam!!!

Someone asked me why I don't post so much on the forum or spend much time on msn etc.

It's simply because I'm trying my best to do what my Panj Pyare asked me to do. Spend less time 'chilling out on the pc' and more time with trying to learn bani off by heart, do more paath and simran. People seem to think that Sikhi is only in Amritvela. Well, it's not - you're supposed to implement it into every aspect of your life. You don't like listening to nindiya? Tell those people to stop and why or leave the sangat of such people. It might seem hard but trust me your heart feels a lot lighter.

Some of you guys are right, there are a lot of hypocrites around. But the best thing you can do is be the opposite and practice Sikhi with all your heart - how many of us can put our hand on our hearts and say that we are whole heartedly trying to obey the commands of our Guru? and our Panj?

I think the people on this forum should stop moaning for a minute and think about ways to counter the problems in Sikhi and try and achieve them. Why tell everyone what THEY should be doing (I gave up on that a while back). 1 person can have an impact on anything. So if we're all that 'one person' we can have the greatest impact ever.

Maharaj says, aape beej aapae hee khaaye| They reap what they sow, its the way of the world, if you don't see something right then make the effort jap loads of naam, do ardaas, start the parchar to making things right. Sure, this is parchar that you're bringing such issues to light, but we shouldn't say SIKHI as a whole is "down down down"

Our panth is niyaara, its niralaapan will never be in a down state, because the creator of the panth is perfect.

I can admit i was wrong to say Sikhi is going down down down. I get that message loud n clear. Im not saying its us against them. Hell, im part of "them" myself. Im not saying im in a seperate group. And if it came accross im speaking down to people like some sort of King, then i apologise. Personally, i think its wrong of u to say that because even if someone was acting like that, we shud say "indeed, u r my king, i am not even the dirt in ure toe nails"...
