Nagar Kirtan was really good, especially when the Bebe Nanaki Jatha did simran to the Mela. Quite a lot of sangat at the Smethwick nagar kirtan. How was the Handsworth nagar kirtan?

The Open Air Celebrations was good aswell, no disturbances, just a calm atmoshphere with no stupid music but some prachar. Also there was more satkar for Maharaj, and the Darbar sahib was nice. The best celebrations yet, hopefully it gets even better. Vahegurooooooooo!!!!

The whole things was wicked, we did run out of Langar and the a small amount of people had to have Roti and Chill Acharr(even though they catered for ONE MILLION people.

Things has got a lot more organised this and the sevadar were all in high spirits right through the day.

Even though there was no mela, there was something there for everyone.....even the people standing in the rain while the gatka was going on were smiling....Cant wait for next year!!!! :1singh1:

Hi,

The mela was absolutely fantastic this year!! There was no fun fair, which was great i.e. no load music and idiots looking for trouble. The whole event was so calm and relaxed. There was enough police presence at all the entrances to the park aswell as

security inside. Brilliant!!

The Gatka was great, little kids were having a great time on the bounce castle and the food was great!!

I can't wait for next year! It can only get better!!!

Vaisakhi Open Air Celebrations held at Handsworth park on Sunday 27th April 2008 was a great success with an estimated attendance of 70,000 people from across the country.

On behalf of The Council of Sikh Gurdwaras in Birmingham, I would like to thank everyone who volunteered, helped out and attended the event.

Maharaj Kirpa, it'll be back next year..bigger and better!!
