Girl denied of cable TV connection accuses father of having raped her

MUMBAI: Just because cable TV connection was cut off and phone calls restricted, a 17-year-old girl has put her father in a horrendous fix and lock-up by alleging that he had raped her.

The girl, who is a first year Commerce student of a Bhayander college, now remorseful, wants to retract her statement, but that would not immediately save the father as the alleged offence is grievous and comes in the " Sessions-committed" crimes category.

The father, Ramakrishnan Nair, 47, has already been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.

The girl now says she made a mistake. She is feeling guilty and she is ready to confess before the court.

Crimes like rape, dacoity and murder are Sessions-committed crimes and cannot be withdrawn easily.

The Thane metropolitan magistrate's court did not grant bail either as it did not have the power to deal with such cases. It should be the sessions court which should consider grant of bail.

According to the police, medical reports have established that the girl was neither raped nor subjected to sexxual assault.

Not only that her

father had snapped cable TV connection, he had wanted her to do household work .

More than that he had restricted her phone calls and did not allow her to speak to her friends, male or female, as he suspected that she had a boyfriend.

Nair's advocate, while pleading for bail in the magistrate's court, has pointed out that the girl is now "inconsolable".

Nair, and LIC agent, was having financial difficulties of late and so he had imposed certain restrictions on her.

On denial of these facilities, the girl, in a fit of rage, left her house on April 1. When she did not return till late in the evening, her parents filed a missing persons' complaint with the Bhayander police.

She had gone to the residence of a close friend and narrated the concocted story.

They believed her and asked her to file a police complaint. The next day they accompanied her to the police station. Her parents were immediately summoned to the station where the father , on being heard that he had raped her, broke down.

After going through legal formalities , the police filed a case against the father who was arrested and then remanded to judicial custody.

Usually it's because they've been spoiled rotten like this kid. I'm not saying mistreat ur kids or anythin, but if u let them get everythin they want, u'll end up with stuff like this.

girl is crazy for shooting unfounded accusations at her father

father is crazy for using such an ABSURD method of dealing with his daughter with regards to her friends.

in short...like father like daughter... what a weird weird world.

I think we shouldnt get too emotional about this, as we dont know what really took place. IT could be that the Girl was really raped but is now protecting her family by taking the blame on herself. Or is could be that the Girl was never raped and just made the whole story up.
