Article About Sikhs With Cut Hair Being Referred To As Not Sikh

This whole nonsense was started by the SGPC (aka SAD Badal) - since when were they ever a authority on Sikhi?

I personally reckon its a ploy so that 'Sikhs' get scheduled caste status in Punjab (oh yes - despite being casteless, this will be their next move, just like the SGPC supported sceduled caste demand in Rajasthan), to up the privelages of the few dozen.

Bhai Sahib Ranjit Singh's viewpoint is much more sensible. And whatever happened to the definition of a Sikh as being one who believes in One God as defined in the Mool Mantar and believes in the teachings of the GGS and 10 Satgurus from Nanak to Gobind Singh? By acknowledging and respecting the aim of taking khande ke pahul, you do not fail the teachings of Dasmesh pita - only Akal Purukh knows the real sincerity of your heart and actions.

As I've said elsewhere on a similar thread - watch the Sangat, the next time you go to the Gurudwara and recognise that all those that bow before Maharaj, be shorn of hair or not are your Sikh brothers and sisters - do not be egoist and make the mistake that they are not the children of Dasmesh, because like I said, only the True One really knows.

Kes is only one of the 5 Ks so what if a person has kes and dhari but does not wear a comb, or a kirpan what about them. Are they a sikh or Not

Also i know many people without kes that pray more then people with Kes, i also know people with Kes who do not even believe in God and say religion is all nonsense, they have kes for punjabi identity etc. So are they Sikh while others arnt.

Lastly Sikhi is about the inside its not show where people dress like a sikh are more religious then others.

so does this mean that someone who is NOT punjabi, eg. Gora who has given his or her head to guruji is merely an "adopted" child of Dasmesh?

those shorn of hair are my brothers and sisters, but Sikh? A Hindu or Muslim shows greater respect for Sikhi than a son/daughter of a sikh who proclaims sikhi but needs to cut their hair because their confidence and respect in relation to sikhi never matured much past ninth grade peer pressure to fit in.

Binaa Tegh Kesan Na Deevon Deedaare (I will not give my darshan them who do not keep there sword and kes)

Binaa Shastra Kesan Naran Bedh Jaano (Without weapons and kes, a man is no more than a sheep)

can you tell me where you get these lines from. i am sure gurus never said that.

infact by saying that this is the guru's hukam, we are slandering the guru.

Those are Guru Gobind Singh Ji's own words, written by themselves in Sri Dasam Granth Ji.

Sometimes we confuse the voice of our minds for that of God........

Its simple, I know when its GOD talking to me and when its my mind trying to fool me.

Ths beautiful sikh identity is being raped and plundered in the West, with all types of weird stubbbled looks, or with a turban plus stubble, turban plus clean shaven look, turban plus sideburns and shaka, Putka with a long taliban style bandana look from the back going to the buttocks, a topi style turban with earring all WRONG

Jeeo,

It is unfortunate that Psychologists have the highest divorce rate amongst all people, for constantly criticizing and acting in arrogance with their closest.

Sikhi inspires higher values, and ones that do not fall into ego arguments

If I may relate the story of Peace lady, who traversed many parts of Asia and Africa, and at one time stumbling upon a tribe in Africa stated thus (as I recall the story):

'In this tribe when some individual had committed some folly, or faltered in some way, what we would say as committed a mis-demeanor or thievery, the person would be placed at the village center.

In the center of the village, all the villagers would gather and surround this individual.

Now what I saw was nothing unlike what I had expected, not a stoning, or pelting with vegetables.

Rather, the tribe would describe all the qualities of the individual that they wish to see, or has been lost by committing this folly. They would describe that they like to share happiness with them, that they are good at this, or that. They would surround the person with praise for good things they done in the past, and offered further praise for continuing those such things. They would continue to exhaust all of the good things they could about that one person.

After this, when all is done, the tribe would celebrate. The person is ultimately forgiven, and re-integrated into the community, rather being shunned. They would be asked to do service to the community of village as reprisal for their wrong act'

The suggestion is quite simple, spread love in the absence of hate and judgement

Those who judge, do not defines others by their judgement, rather define themselves as those who need to judge.

Fateh

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
