What needs to be done is have a Sikh body that represents what is acceptable and what isnt in Indian drama's and films. So that before anyone creats a production or writes a sript they have it checked by the Sikh organisation for its content and if its deemed unsuitable it should be changed or scrapped and if the producers insist on protraying Sikhs in negative manor then strong action would be called for. Only few years ago babber khalsa bombed a cinema in new delhi after several warnings by Sikh organisations that the film jo bole sohnihal had scenes that would cause alot of offence to Sikhs. After ignoring the peaceful protests and warnings.. babbar khalsa activists took it upon themselves to bomb a cinema whose management insisted in showing the film.

So these producers should be careful and be sensetive to peoples religious passions.

How do you know the Babbars bombed that cinema? When Bhai Hawara (head of BK) was arrested, he admitted to most charges (ie conspiracy in killing CM Beant etc) but strongly denied having any part in the cinema blasts.

There are plenty of individuals and groups in india who would happily create a pretext for maligning Sikhs.

Lets face it many moderate Sikh organisations had said at the time that showing the film would inflame religious sikh passions and some cinema owners didnt listen most of punjab didnt show it. So the radicals took matters into their own hands and made sure people who went to see the film risked their lives... no one else would benefit from it apart from radical organisations like babbar khalsa. Indian govt has a track record for deception and framing Sikhs in so called counter insurgency operations or "encounters" but... it was pretty easy to understand why radical militant Sikhs would take it upon themselves to send a message such films would not be tolerated.

sikhz would neva bomb innocentz in a cinema - in a struggle 4 freedom bombing a cinema wouldnt achieven nufink, plus Babbar Hawara has denied all charges relating 2 tht

All it takes is a nutter who doesnt care about innocents to give any organisation a bad name, if you chat to some of the Sikhs I have you will come to understand not everyone is reasonable and has a balanced mind. We have our fair share of nutters in our religion who think with their fists first than with their brain. Thats why so many Sikhs in indian army... they make great soldiers and good cannon fodder for the Indian govt in its wars against its precieved enmies. Us Sikhs need to prize wisedom and intellgience over braun and simple mindedness thats the only way collectively we politically will be masters of our own destiny.

These films will stop once our people stop watching them. Every "Sikh" household even in the UK will have someone who watches this rubbish. First lets ban this nonsense in our houses, then our relatives, then our friends, maybe then we can think about India. The more we support them (ie watching them) the more they will produce.

hmmm, thats why the chief of such a tight knit organisation admitted to other charges but denied the bombings.

2009 release?

It has not hit the Uk cinemas yet from what i know.

Lets do this, Lets NOT allow it to be played in London.

I cannot speak for India or rest of the world but we can speak for our own areas at least.

They will send that Tape reel to the cinemas in London soon. The second they dare play it, all sikhs will kick off some major protests outside the main London Cinemas.

ALso lets communicate through proffessional sikh bodies to these london cinemas that IF they DARE play this offensive film, then they can expect "dire consequences" for their lack of consideration for sikh sentiments.

Im all up for that. Lets put that wheel in motion right now , if all the local sangat agree?

IF we manage to stop this film from being played at cinemas here, then it will mark a new begining.

After all these bollywood films depicting sikhs as idiots and jokers, this is the first film where sikhs took a stand and physically stopped it from being played (if it works , which it should).

AFterall...what cinema would want a thousand or so odd sikhs protesting outside it??? They'd cave in to our demands easily and take that film off cinema.

I been hearing complaints and reading them for many years now. So lets do something.

Start by contacting each cinema by email.

Sikhs can put up with this rubbish no more

What is needed is a british sikh organisation that is organised and takes action.

Look at the jews they have jewish board of deputies they have high reach and influence in UK govt

Look at muslims they have many muslim bodies that they use to get funding from UK govt for attempting to stop extremism in their youths.

Look at Sikhs what have we got? a bunch of money grabbing lazy idiots who have failed British Sikhs in this country for far too long now. The old guard the old skool Sikh leaders in this country have all died out, when they were in charge Sikhs were represented and their concerns and views were taken on broad by UK government ministers. Now we have yes men who pay lip service to ministers smiling for the camera's and getting awards from the state to keep them sweet. Yet countless times Sikhs have been persecuted and attacked, gurdwara's is destoryed and these so called Sikh leader idiots have not even made a mass protest demonstation.

Our organisations will start having kittens when you mention protest......the truth is it ruins their reputations. They also will be worried about all the hard work they have put in over the last 25 years going down the drain....

before you ask me what they have been doing...the answer is: I really dont know :6

we take a softly softly approach and it gets us nowhere.....we lick <banned word filter activated> and still get shown in a bad light.

Best contact newly formed organisations and get them invloved.

we should say to labour we will vote bnp if they show these flms in uk cinemas.#

i have considerd voteing for them anyway.

and labour will laugh in your face. what needs to be done is that all political parties should be contacted for their views on sikhs in uk, 84, khalistan etc. and the best views will get our votes.

as far as i know, the uk independence party and the liberal democrats are the most pro-sikh, dont know if thats still the case.

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
