Brhamanad Or Brehmanand?

Throughout Gurbani the Word Brahm and Brahmanand are written like this bRhm

But many of us pronounce it as Brahm instead of Brehm

Which is the proper way to pronounce

Interesting. These translations suggest that Brahm means nothing but the Lord itself.

He Himself is Himself pervading everywhere.

yup. bhram means god. i have to admit that i got confused by Nehmats post! cus the q was bout pronuncing the word and not the origon... but yup. it means god.

in hinduism, they also call the absolute god bhrahm. god has many names. sikhi uses all the names. but then again, namastang anaame!

I don't think it is. I don't have Gurmukhi font, but 'haha' has a 'ha' sound, not 'he', same with the 'rara' at the foot of 'baba'.

People from different parts of Punjab have slightly different pronounciations, so that's why you sometimes hear 'Brehm'. I think, lol.

I asked a question earlier about the Brahm. I wanted to know if there is one or more universe's'. Silly me. If Brahm means God and also mean 'universe' then this has answered my question.

God is infinite. That means universe's' are infinite. Beyond our understanding.

bharam means god. as established.

bhramand is a 'samassi shabad'.. i.e. bhramand is a word where 2 words are joined into 1.

sho...

one might ask, wot the other word (mr wolf!)

the other word is mandal. mama-tipi, dada (as in dadooo!), and lala.

mandal means planet/world/relm/solar orbs or systems... etc...

so put it together, bharam-mandal makes.... bharamand. the lala drops off.

another example.. dharamraj. in japji sahib this is fliped over. so it becomes rajadharam.

another guni-nidhaan. this is a samassi shabad. but when the people were 'making the words' from the hand written saroops, they separated 'words' and left words joined that should be. gatha has an example... sahaskriti salok has lots of examples..

almost forgot the most obvious example!

'jugaad' such.. this is samassi.

jug+ aad. this is why giannis (are supposed to anyway) emphisize(by pausing a bit) the gaga in this word.

'aad' as we all no, is the start. so...

aad such = true at the start

jugaad such = throughout the jugs god is true (or from the start to the jugs, and through the jugs he is true)

hai bhi such = true in the present

naanak

hosi bhi such = will be forever true in all of time and the future to come.
