Marriage... And What Follows

firstly, i would just like to briefly introduce myself, im a singh getting married soon, and i had a question,

normally in indian tradition for a marriage to be seen as 'complete' i guess it has to be consummated.

no since im a gursikh, i havent engaged in any sexual acts before marriage, but i would just like to ask is it necessary to consummate a sikh marriage?

A bit harsh.

You are persumably going to consumate the marraige at some point so why not straight away. You partner may also be inexperienced in this way so there is no need to worry, just go at the pace you both feel comforable with.

You don't HAVE to do so, even marriage is not compulsory. If both of you have the same birthi, then you can manage.

There aren't any 'rules' on things like this, most of the time it is up to the couple in question. There is no real need from a Sikhi point of view to consumate the marriage and you shouldn't feel any pressure to do so no matter what anybody tells you. Consumate it with Gurmat first as that will make you both a stronger couple. Also it's likely that you are both worried about the same thing so you should try and talk to her about it. It will ease the tension.
