For God's sake 'Only Five' do we have to reduce every single bloomin' thread into a criticizm ? Do we have to always just get into an argument??? What is wrong with people these days ???

Manmoorakh is asking a simple question, he is not having any meat/ alcohol etc etc at the wedding, instead of congratulating him on this great step in this dark age that we live in where every wedding degenerates into booze and bhangra, shouldn't this couple be praised ??? no, instead we pick up one little thing and start critisizing again and again and again, for god sake give it a bloomin rest! He want to have a meal afterwards that is all.

Manmoorakh, you are doing a great thing, good luck in your search for a gurughar where you can have a wedding like you want it and dont be put off by people who just want to critisize all the time.

Tell me where I have criticized. I shared relevant information and you go off.laugh.gif

Why praise when the person is refusing to take langar as served and make it into what they refered to as elegant dinner. If your fine with praising manmat then that's fine with me. Praise away!!! Also not having alcohol or bhangra is already know to a Sikh at any function.

Thanks for the laugh pal and go drink a tall glass of water before you respond.

Sorry 5, maybe it time u need to go drink water and do some mool mantar to clam down. What 'Bundha' have said is correct, If someone is taking a step in to sikhi, why are u trying to push him off? I am sorry to say, but it really rare to see someone getting married like dis. Instead of encouraging u are only discouraging him.

I do not see anywhere where he has refused and i dont think it wrong for him to say that he wants a place, where all "HIS FAMILY" can mix up.

Do u even know what Langar is? and meaning of it?

might wane read the following

The Langar or free kitchen was started by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is designed to uphold the principle of equality between all people of the world regardless of religion, caste, colour, creed, age, gender or social status. In addition to the ideals of equality, the tradition of Langar expresses the ethics of sharing, community, inclusiveness and oneness of all humankind. "..the Light of God is in all hearts." (sggs 282)

Bold word are a little reminder on what Langar means and now what Manmoorakh wants his a place, where his and bride family can join up and socialise and eat, rather then disrepsecting the langar hall, like most ppl do.

Only Five Ji, are you 100% Gursikh ? if you are then I bow to you. I certainly am not 100% gursikh and I suspect you are not also. we are all on a journey on Gurus path, some are further then others, but to start picking little things and critisizing is not the sikh way. We all do manmat things all of the time, who doesn't? do you?

eg. A person is amritdhari, gets up amritwelley and does nitname and tries to follow Gurus path, only thing is he ties his dastaar the african sikh way. We will overlook all his good things and pick up on one small thing and critisize so much we make him demoralised. That is what we do, and we are so good at it, and you are no different, we get on our high horses when we ourselves are anything but complete. So you go take a long drink of water, better still stick your head in it. ;)

Yes and I am correct aswell. Keep your childish he's correct she's correct to yourself.

If someone is taking a step in to sikhi, why are u trying to push him off?

If I have done this then show me where I did it. Do you know saying something that is not true is slander. How about backing up your accusations here. Otherwise your Indira Gandhi lover.

I am sorry to say, but it really rare to see someone getting married like dis. Instead of encouraging u are only discouraging him.

Again making things up. Show me where I have discouraged. What I have done is given information factual information and it stung Bundhu, you and the person who started this thread. You three need to get a grip and control your emotions and you need to stop lying.

I do not see anywhere where he has refused and i dont think it wrong for him to say that he wants a place, where all "HIS FAMILY" can mix up.

You give the definition of langar but don't you know families get together when langar is served. His family can mix up in the langar. Sit on THE FLOOR side by side and have langar as Guru Nanak Dev ji told us Sikhs to have it.

And if they want the family to do the whole meet and greet then they can have a get together afterwards, but changing langer to 'legegant dinner is mamnat. You can mold this anyway you choose, but at the end of the day it's still manmat.

Sitting on chairs and tables is not langar, even if it is taken at the Gurdwara. Langar is where Guru Sahib is present and the edicts are followed and then it is Langar.

Do u even know what Langar is? and meaning of it?

You should read this yourself before just copy pasting the first thing that comes up in the google search engine.

Here I'll solve this problem in a second. These individuals do Anand Karaj take langar and then in the evening have their meet and greets at a place of their choosing. What Manmoorakh is doing now is manmat on making langar into what he describes as elegant lunch/dinner.

Making false accusation is slander, so keep that in mind next time you chose to be dishonest.

Bundha, I got nothing against you and don't want to get into this little back and forth slaps.

Your right we are all on the journey and we all make msitakes, but two mistakes dont make one right of your choosing or both right. As is said two wrongs don't make a right.

What the person with the original post is doing is wrong and it can't be justified with pulling mistakes from other people, if this was the case, everytime I am wrong i would just point toward Hitlers grave and say he did this and go free.

These individuals are not having a reception then great, but this one right does not justify and make one wrong action correct. And that's what I was pointing out.

These individuals want Guru Sahib blessing but are too high class to take Guru ka langar. Am I the only one who see the wrong in this.

Only five, i accept your comments in calling us Manmat because we are.

In fact there is langar after the Anand Kaaraj. if held at Sikh Missionary, we dont have enough space to seat all the people. But as per usual, who ever wants to have langar will. But, after the ceremony, later in the evening, we are having a Dinner. If this is Manmat then so be it. so can you please stop using this thread to justify your beliefs which i respect but this was supposed to be a place to get advice and answers from the Sangat.

We dont know each other so lets not go on about what is Manmat.

back to the question?

Now you guys suggesting Sikh Missionary Society for the Langar ??? I was led to believe that all Missionaries are evil !

Admin Note: Looks like the soon-to-be-couple have been given enough suggestions. On behalf of all Sikhsangat administrators, moderators and members, we wish them a happy, blessed and Gursikhi-filled married life. We pray that Gurujee always graces you with chardi kala.
