"baba-e-kaum"

just had a quick question, i have seen "baba-e-kaum" and "mard-e-mujahid" written next to many of sant baba jarnail singh ji's pictures. just wanted to know what it meant...........??????????

I would assume that it's an urdu phrase to praise Sant Ji.. "baba-e-kaum" would mean saint of the khalsa/sikh panth and "mard-e-mujahid" equates to "man of god"?

My translation may not be a 100% spot on as I don't know much urdu, but that's what I would break it down to. :)

"Mujahid" is pretty much an Islamic term which probably means "soldier of faith" or "soldier of God". Mard means man. So mard-e-mujahid would mean a strong soldier of faith or of God. baba-e-kaum ofcourse means baba (saintly person held in high reverence) of an entire kaum. Since Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale is known to be a Sant-Sipahi, both terms apply to him.

Baba-E-Kaum = Sant

Mard-E-Mujahid = Sipahi
