'Rarely in the annals of human history does there appear a personage capable of awakening the human heart's noblest virtues to such an extent that an entire nation dynamically expresses the finest of its inherent qualities. Guru Gobind Singh had such an exceptional personality. Matchless in character and unparalleled in attributes, striking in figure and divine in demeanour, he was the definitive warrior-saint. In battle he knew no equal; in piety he was sublime. His presence inspired awe, devotion, and valour. Poet, visionary, sage, warrior, and leader, he fearlessly rallied the valiant forces of righteousness lying dormant within the weary hearts of his people. The strength of his moral fibre and the conviction of his spiritual and social ideals inspired his nation to fulfil its noble destiny, uplifting it within a singular purpose. In the entire history of humankind, the unparalled example of Guru Gobind Singh stands as a perennial source of inspiration for the leaders of the world.'

''The Nihangs or Akalis were the elite of the Khalsa who held all royal privileges in the court of the Guru''

My understanding was that the Khalsa and Sikhs of the Guru were all equal, indeed the teachings of our Gurus is 'All human beings are equal'' - manas ki jat sab eko pachano''

So why are Nihangs the elite or the chosen ones -contradiction.

THE DE-Evolution of the nihang singhs

''The Nihangs or Akalis were the elite of the Khalsa who held all royal privileges in the court of the Guru''

KEY WORD = WERE (past tense…..as in not any more)

Nihangs were once the great warriors of the panth in the time of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, they put their bodies on the line wherever the panth was in trouble and fought on the front line in every single battle the sikh panth were involved in. Great nihang warriors include Akali Phoola Singh, Nawab Kapoor Singh, Banda Singh Bhadur, and Baba Fateh singh but to name a few. They fought against tyranny and oppression helping anyone who was in need and truly lived as warriors of the sikh panth. This was a time when their way of life including all the mayada held sacred made perfect sense. All old descriptions on nihang singhs comment on their warrior ways……they indeed once were warriors…

But one cannot really comment on the so called nihangs of today….in a time of Government oppression (Sikhs in india unable to grow whichever crops they wish and sell them freely, as well as bear any arms they wish), a time when Bhaialawale has burnt 7 Saroop of Guru Granth sahib ji, when Ausutosh has openly insulted the Gurus khalsa and challenged them… a time when the police kill and beat Sikhs for protesting (Ludinhana morcha and Bombay police brutality to Sikhs), a time when Sirsa Wale takes the mickey out of Amrit, Dasmesh pita and the panj pyare, a time when Taliban kill Sikhs to put fear in our people and demand taxes from poor Sikhs, a time when the indian government attack our Golden temple…….and rape our sisters and mothers in Dehli….

I humbly ask where were the brave nihang warriors who uphold the tradition of meat eating and taking cannabis so close to the hearts?

Where were the elite of the khalsa panth? Or does the burning of Guru Granth sahib not matter to them….does the killing in innocent sikh protesters not matter to them..

Would the true Nihangs of old sit back and watch the panth get ripped apart?

Would the true Nihangs of old sit back and watch our mothers get raped in Dehli?

Would the true Nihangs of old sit back and watch our golden temple get bombed?

Would the true Nihangs of old sit back and watch Dasam granth get picked on and insulted?

It is sad today to see real nihangs have become extinct…only the stories and name remains…

Nowadays they exist as internet heroes…..in website form only….in pictures looking nice…..in audio sounding nice…

Where has the courage of the nihang heads of today gone I ask you?

They learn snatan shaster vidiya and ride horses…but don’t fight on the front line?

Nihangs are the warriors of the sikh panth….not saints or scholars…WARRIORS

Once were warriors……

Please post excuses like you are going to… for the Nihangs not doing anything in any panthic morcha? – yes one or too did do something like Baba Avtaar singh brama….where were the rest?

Would Maharaaj be proud of the great elite protectors of the Sikh nation today?

I’m not hating…..in just saying….

Bhull chuk maaaf….

There were a handful of Nihangs actually did do panthic sewa in 1984.

They were from Bidhi Chand Faction & Tarna Dal(am not sure of which of the 2). So please dont paint all with them same paint. There were some shaheeds from these above 2 mentioned Nihang factions. :)

Budh Dal=none. (as they were under Santa Singh's leaderships)

Nihung singhs are the most respected wing of sikhism. In fact all sikhs were Nihungs to begin with as evident from history.

Whenever panth was in need Nihung singhs scarificed with their lives for the panth.

Sikh history is full of their role at crucial times such as role of baba Gurbakhash Singh ji while defending Darbar sahib

against Ahmed shah abdali might, role of Nihungs at battle of Multan and attock and subsequent their stand against British

during and after Anglo-sikh wars.

This is the reason they are called "Guru Kian ladlian Faujan". No true sikh will belittle their role and call names to them.

Only an enemy of panth will say bad about them.

here we go again...not answering the questions put forward...we have nothing but respect and admiration for the puraatan nihungs..their sacrifices in the past were unmatched...but we are not speaking about the nihangs of old..we are speaking about the nihangs of today...they are a shadow of their former self...and as a whole they failed us during the movement..yes a few did fight against the government..but a few is not enough..if the whole dal panth fought..we would have khalsa raj today in punjab no doubt!....they left the panth in its time of need and because of that it has badly hampered their reputation

Yes there are are some nihungs that are a disgrace

But there are many more REAL nihungs out there for whom i have the up most respect . There are quite a few real uk nihungs around 2.

People talking about internet warriors and stuff why do not go to a uk nihung gathering and share your views

Seems like members of a certain jathabandi are just stiring up sh1t on here , they know who the are.
