If you not seen this programme check it out on 4OD. I just seen footage of a solider murdering at point blank range naked handcuffed man in the back of the head. A tamil tiger news broadcaster raped and murdered. This is dispicable but also footage of a 12 year old son of LTTE leader, arrested, interegated and then executed.

C4 have had the footage verified also.

Thats the problem with west london singh he often bats for the other (muslim) side and his Sikh loyalty and credential's become very doubtful indeed. Its good to provide a balanced point of view but when you neglect the harm that people do to your own Sikh community and you do not say anything to those who try to undermine the Sikhs then whose community do you exactly belong to?

Sikh loyalties and credential are you joking? Your ability to turn a simple debate into a mockery is what should be highlighted here. People like you run our gurdwara with very introspective views of community. Always "they" and "us" last time i checked guru ji resides in all! West London Singh isnt neglecting the harm Nihal has done i agree with most of his points. A randomer who doesnt know of sikhi wouldnt be left with a bad example of it from the show but it seem Nihal is as misinformed as much of his audience...we should try and educate BBC asian network and Nihal thats the right way to go!

Genie

You show your foolishness by not reading my posts when I stated nihaal has form here regarding Sikhs. If this was a one off incident no one would care much. But it seems a common theme when he talks about Sikhs in his programs he tends to put his foot in it and doesn't reflect the views of Sikhs but rather gives his own assumptions on the matter in hand.

And I have no desire to run a Gurdwara management committee dont know what planet your on

It wasn’t your post on 2nd or 3rd post on Nihal I was referring to it was your post against a fellow member that I quoted above? Again if you had read my post I agree that Nihal is misinformed and needs educating! It was your comments about “WestLondonSingh” that I referred to, no one should undermine sikhs and I don’t believe that’s what his comments suggest.

p.s the gurdwara comment wasn’t to say you had a desire to run one but such an introspective view on community is shared with people who do run our gurdwareh

p.s singh there is no doubt i am young and foolish but dont really see how that comment helps in this debate? unless you are proffering the opinion that like Nihal you have nothing to learn!

Ha! Just tuned into the AN and the main headline for the news bulletin is the killings in Sri Lanka. So what does Nihal do? He scarpers to a Muslim girl's school in the north of England and tries to act all understanding about why big, bad English society is making the poor ickle Muslims feel sad.

You can't make it up, you really can't!!! :lol2:

im an angry yung man, growin up in dirty areas, it makes us have short fuese i reckon. 2ndly dont wana sound horrible, but i was talkin 2 'Hazoor', thanks. Tell me wat else shud i call a couple who defamed r faith live on radio by stating sikhi has taken bits n bobs of other faiths. I CARE OK!

Last I checked, anger was something Sikhs are suppose to control. Whether you care or not is irrelevant, getting angry and using foul language has no place on this forum.

im guessing your an old man?...not everyone is middle-class like you

It has nothing to do with being 'middle class' or being old, there is a thing called being courteous and respectful toward others.

PS. This will be last reply to you guys, please stay on topic :)

Gurfateh Ji

To sum up, some stupid asians make fun of our religion an a baisis, and we cant do nothing, because if we complain they take no action and then blank us, so then when we have an oppurtunity to speak ( by them reading our complains) they dis us and make fun, for what reason these are one of the things that make us sikhs to have a seperate country, and place where we can call home, where we will not get discriminated, which is Khalistan....... Mere Jind Meri Jaan KHALISTAN!

VJKK VJKF Sangat ji!

    • Part of the problem is the hostilities between India and Pakistan. If the border were open, Amritsar would easily become a huge trading city. Secondly, the National Highways Authority of India is constructing a new 6-lane expressway from Kashmir, through Amritsar/Jalandhar/Ludhiana to Dehli which will be part of the Ludhiana-Delhi-Kolkatta Industrial Corridor.  Maps of the New Silk Road show Kolkata as a key part of the "road". The Punjab to Kolkata expressway and rail connections will fulfill the ability to hook up to the New Silk Road.  In addition, while crossing to Pakistan via AH1 (Asian Highway 1) is difficult, India does connect to AH1 on the other side, towards the East. Finally, Punjab can trade with the world via Mundra port in Gujurat. Rail to Mundra, then sea onwards. Dubai is very close with a free port. If you send products to Iran, there are ground links onward to Europe.
    • Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing. Without the Guru, they know not the essence of the Reality, know not the essence of the Reality. Anand Sahib.
    • You're confusing two different things: One is merely adding starch to a turban to get a certain feel to the fabric. The other is tying your turban once and taking it off like a hat. It is this that people have a problem with. What's wrong with it is that Rehit says to tie your turban afresh every time. If you ask, "Where is that written?", it's written in Bhai Nand Lal ji's Rehitnama. @ipledgeblue didn't just make it up. Umm, no, bro. We're not evangelical Christians like President George W Bush of the US claiming to "talk to God" who told him to invade Iraq. "Speaking to him directly" basically ends up being doing whatever you feel like with the excuse that Guru ji told you to do it. If you still want to take your turban off like a hat, feel free to do so, but don't claim that it's Rehit.
    • You don't need to wear either a pag or dumalla in the gym. You can simply wear a meter or 1.5m small turban (gol pagg or round turban). It doesn't come off.
    • The reason you don't see anything wrong with it is because like a fish in water, you grew up in Western culture and imbibed it fully. It's very difficult to for parents to inculcate traditional culture while in the West. The reason there is a problem is because a kiss between a man and wife is a sexual act (I didn't say it's coitus, but it's still sexual.) By contrast a kiss between a mother and a child, for example, is not sexual. And in our culture, sexual acts are not allowed in public. Goras do allow it. And that's also the reason they have gay pride parades now with people walking around naked with children in attendance and so forth.
