Heres the real deal regarding S.P of the 80s

Shere Panjab Birmingham is made up mostly of the first British Born Sikhs to go through the U.K schooling system; In addition to that you have leading figures of sp that came to England when they were 5-12. Majority of S.P were mainly munair with a hand full of Singhs.

S.P.emerged out of a gang from Handsworth called the donkies a named adopted as they wore donkey jackets. Holyhead secondary school was the core of the donkey gang.

After leaving school there wasn’t much to look forward no fancy vocational courses then!! They left school on to the dole

.

Football, fighting vandalism, and dirking is the main pass time. Wedge head hair cuts, adidas samba, and drain pipe cords or jeans with Pringles jumpers are the order of the day. They go college but will be on there for 2 months max.

At the same in Aston you have the Aston Panthers who are emerging not only as a street gang but with sinister campaign to convert Sikh girls for conservation to push in to prostitution.

Aston and Handsworth are neighbouring areas with lozzles or Perry barr separating them.

Clashes in college between Sikhs and Muslims result in to more people coming together in the donkey gang.

Now at 19 some in job and some out of work The donkey gang peaked in 1986 when they came to Aston to the guild pub on witton rd in numbers around of 200 plus to sort out the Panthers after long rising tensions, people are hurt; weapons are used in the raid. Lads are arrested, this when it hits the media and the talking point of every Punjabi household.

Some Singhs of martial arts back grounds from south Birmingham and handsworth took note of what was happening. They came on the scene started to organize meetings, training, and talks.

The boozing and fighting culture is still there. The name of Shere Panjab is adopted, small local gangs and handy from Smethwick, winson green, wbrom and cape hill are brought in.

S.P now have name and a identity ,sp badges were made, small orange silky handy chiefs were in a pockets a bit hanging bout of the back if jeans,

Jail was a common, violence was flaring eve with blacks with of handsworth. S.P has peaked too early.

In the 90s people were getting married, having kids opening business, some went the other in to organized crime.

A football team is set up under the SP banner; it’s a regular meeting place on Saturdays with all day drinking. There’s criminal activity, Aston panthers and Muslims are forgotten years.

Circa 1997 sp is just a football team and a group of old school lads who meet.

Conversations has changed from who in prison to “hows the kids” some turned to Sikh and are totally changed,

Sp were of a tough back ground where gang culture was youth culture, they deserve place in British Sikh History.

Im from Brum and related to people who were promient sp/donky members. ive never heard of this case however your best bet is to go to brum central libray and get Evening Mail Archfact ives.

Hammertime007 - many thanks - I just want to separate the fact from the fiction..........also it seems that the whole of the UK is scared to speak out over the many recent court cases of Pakistani-Muslim sex gangs abusing young girls in Telford, Rochdale, Derby etc - .........by publicising the sewa that the brave original Shere Panjab did to protect young girls in the 1980s/earLy 1990s - we can show the UK that a small but dynamic minority-community in this country was battling these Muslim sex gangs head on - decades before the awareness of this pattern of abuse (Muslim men & non-Muslim girls) was ever reported in the press,,,,,,,,,,,,the whole of the UK can learn from what Shere Panjab did and stood for !!

I have personally known Bush and Bomb Singh amongst other apne that were involved with the S.P movement in the mid to late 80's and in my opinion they are to be commended for their actions .What you have to understand is the socio-climate at the time ,there was alot of Pakis checking apnia or trying it on with them. A true story ....I used to go to Smethwick Hall boys school next door was athe girls school . At dinner times a whole load of Paki taxi drivers would turn up to perv on them ,it used to happen every day also I used to live on an adjacent road to the school and my cousins used to live further up on the road .One day my aunt came round our house and told us that the previous day there was a knock on her door and when she answered the door there were some girls from the girls school and basically they were asking for refuge because they were being harrassed and followed by some pakis in a car.My aunt let em in and after a little while they left . Anyway word got out about what was going on at the school and one diner time while the Pakis were parked up 2 van load of S.P lads Bush and Bomb included turned up and give the <banned word filter activated> a beating they never forgot ..... The pakis never came back to our school after that

Now that is just one of multiple true stories of what happened in those days now fast forward to the mid 90's in Slough and excactly the same thing was happening (how do I know? ... I moved to Slough in 1989) But it wasnt Bomb or Bush but a new generation mainly Southall lads that Im still personally close to this very day.....also most of them were monay but since then some have kept their kesh and some have even taken Amrit ... So all in all what im trying to say is it really doesnt matter if they were monay or not they still did a service to the community wether we like it or not ...I mean sometimes it takes an age to find your true vocation life

Singh31 - if you know or knew the original SP crew - perhaps they may consider coming onto this forum and give advice to the youth of today on many topics such as grooming, conversions etc........they are seasoned veterans and their experiences would be invaluable and an inspiration to many of us who respect what they did for our community ?

This report was done by the' politically-correct' BBC....the presenter introducing the report was Sudha Buchar (Indian married to a Muslim guy) ...........and the narrator and reporter of this clip was called 'Fatima Salaria'.......I guess this report maybe didnt have a chance of being impartial and non-biased and maybe why the reporter CHOSE to interview young Sikh girls who didnt want protecting !!!...................I wonder what ever happened to the silly little girl who was interviewed admitting going out with a Muslim guy on camera ?? - maybe her 'proud' parents made a quick trip with her to Panjab after that !!! LOL
