Good point Singh1986. If it's in gurdwara then its clear violation to do this poja at gurdwara sahib, but if they are renting the community hall as you said, its bit of grey area-case by case- discretion- especially if we look at open history of harmony with other faiths..!!!

Before youths get too head of themselves and start getting worked up and start looking at everything- gurmat and manmat lense..black and white. It's better to seek advise directly clarification on inter-faith harmony sessions directly from sri akaal takth sahib.

One such living example of inter-faith- Guru Ki Maseet (picture below) - I wonder what kind of gurdwara maryada amendments those historical guru ki maseet have from sri akaal takth sahib- can anyone dig more on this?

This happens at hazoor sahib but its for shastars.I have no problem with shastar puja.

You can't compare durga pooja to pooja of our Peer - Shastar. No comparison at all.

At Gurudwara, such things should not happen. If Hindus are being blocked from performing their prayers somewhere else then they should turn to Gurudwaras out of respect.

I have seen this posted around and discussed and a lot of people are "outraged"!!!

But... is the local Hindu community hiring the hall out to practice their religious Pooja/rituals? If so, what is the problem? Its not as if Sikhs have to enter the hall whilst it is happening and its not in the Gurdwara itself!?

Are we becoming too intolerant that we now cant even handle other faiths using our community halls for occasional religious events? Yes their form of worship is seen as against the principles of Sikhism but for example Guru Hargobind Ji allocated an area for muslims to pray in Hargobindpur and so Guru Ji is okey with it and facilitated a permanent structure being built for other faiths to pray why cant we allow access to temporary facilities?! .

Just my opinion though.

Yeah thats a good point. I'm reminded about that news from a few weeks ago about the priest that wouldn't allow kundalini yoga classes at the local church hall because he said yoga was against christian principles. I remember thinking what a bigoted intolerant twit he was. It'll do us good to sometimes do a bit of self-reflection and realise how the rest of society might sometimes see us. Fact is, there's plenty of areas in the UK where the local Sikhs have nowhere to turn for their events but local community halls. Imagine how we'd feel and what we'd think of the people that objected simply because they reject our religion ?

Having said that though, there is a wider issue here, and that issue is the way that Sikh Gurdwaras up and down the UK are using public funds and grants in order to establish 'community centres' and halls in the name of 'education', 'religion' and culture. They are securing vast amounts of hard to come by public money, rates rebates, zero corporation tax etc by stating that the community centre is an extension to the place of worship, and thus an extension of the charity status it enjoys. The truth, however, is that it is nothing more than a business venture, designed to make money. At the end of the day then it is nothing more than a scam to defraud the public purse and it is the ordinary rate and tax payers of the town who are paying for it whilst other local public services are axed through lack of money. In the end then, if we wanna put a stop to these parties and durga worshipping inside halls that bear the name 'Sikh' and the khanda, we need to expose them to the local community as a whole. We need to tell the local community (christians, muslims etc) that their hard earned taxes are paying for these community centres that go up as religious places of worship enjoying charity status, but in actual fact there is very little religious or 'charity' going on inside them. In the end then, we need to create a backlash from the local communities against the 'uncles of the committees'. Once we put the plug on the flow of public money, grants and tax relief we'll soon see the end of these so called 'Sikh Cultural Centres'.

This also happens in Gillingham ramgaria gurdwara where they use Mahrajs tabiya for their pooja. We have nothing against any other religion but only Gurmat should be imposed in the Guroos house.

Please see the link below regarding last year pooja. This is becoming a serious issue and something must be done.
