Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

Today, over 50 Naujawan Khalsa visited Brent Sikh Centre to resolve the outstanding issue of the continuing abuse of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by this Gurdwara Committee.

This Sikh Centre has been exposed a culprit for taking Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to hotels, clubs, pubs & banqueting halls and other places against Gurmat, to perform ‘Sikh Weddings’. Recently this happened at Vikram’s Occasions Palace in Slough where Guruji was placed in the middle of the dance floor and only curtains separated the remaining bar area stocked with alcohol.

The Youth commenced by reciting Sri Benti Chaupai Sahib Ji da Path in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. We requested the Granthi to contact President Avtar Hoonjan to return to the Gurdwara and discuss the issues with the Youth.

Avtar Hoonjan did not answer any phone call therefore refusing to attend. At this time Gurdwara Secretary Harbans Singh was met by the Youth.

Firstly he claimed the Gurdwara will not be committing this beadbi again to a handful of Youth but refused to meet with the remaining Youth congregating in the Divan Hall.

All Youth are agreed that the committee of Brent Sikh Centre do not see what they have done as a serious offence against Sikhi. When asked if they have done Ardas in Guru Maharaj’s presence asking for forgiveness he said this was not necessary.

At the time of this discussion a wedding reception was being held in the Langar Hall with caterers, waiters and a tandoor outside. A member of the wedding party decided to start smoking within the boundaries of the Gurdwara. When qu

estioned about this, Harbans Singh claimed that Brent Sikh Centre was not a Gurdwara but a Community Centre. The traditions of a Gurdwara do not fully apply here, even through this ‘Centre’ has two Divan Halls and prakash of Guruji.

The link with other wedding organisers & banqueting halls were highlighted to Harbans Singh. His response was that they just book and send Guru Maharaj out, they do not know the location. Satvinder Sarl was named as the individual who did the booking on behalf of the family for the wedding in Slough (Vikram’s Occasions Palace). The committee of the Gurdwara is highly fragmented and does not working for the betterment of the Centre.

We asked Harbans Singh to sign, on behalf of the Gurdwara, the declaration letter we had earlier sent to them but he refused. Again this does not give the Naujawan the confidence that they have actually passed the resolution that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji will not be taken to hotels, clubs, pubs, banqueting halls etc.

While these discussions were taking place emergency alarms rang twice. When the Naujawan Khalsa were leaving four police cars and two police wagon arrived at the Gurdwara. The Police were told that Militants have entered the Gurdwara and a Granthi has been injured!

The committee have not acted responsibly undermining their roles community representatives. The Naujawan Khalsa has given Brent Sikh Centre one more chance to rectify the situation:

The Campaign will be formally writing to the committee identify the itinerary for a committee meeting:

1) An official statement that this beadbi will not happen again and their adherence to the Hukamnama from Sri Akal Takht Sahib

2) An official apology of previous actions and Ardas in the presence of Guruji asking for forgiveness

3) Procedures to fully investigate future bookings.

4) Apologise for the verbal behaviour to members of Respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Campaign and Daljit Singh Shergill of National Council of Gurdwaras.

Harbans Singh said that he will call an emergency committee meeting but this can only be authorised by Avtar Hoonjan. They have 7 days to call a committee meeting and response in writing commencing from the date of our letter.

Non co-operation from the Gurdwara will be reported to the Sangat and further action will be taken.

GurFateh!

Thanks for the update. I for one would like to thank the naujawan who went to Brent today. It is great seva you people are doing.

These Brent Sikh Centre people appear to have no respect for Guru Ji.

I have written again and again, we need to approach the Akal Takht about the people. Maybe we should also approach the Akal Takht about so called community centres having saroop of Guru Ji and allowing people to smoke on site. Rather than difuse the situation they are intent on escalating it.

These people appear to have no intention of admitting their actions were wrong. The smoking incident shows they lack the respect towards Guru Ji. They also appear to be apt at telling lies if they told the police that a giani had been injured.

The Akal Takht should also be approached about rent a giani activities of Sarl.

There were kids there with us, some as young as 1 years old. Singhs and Singhnees of all ages. We came with the Khalsa spirit. We sat in front of our GuruJi and recited Chaupai Sahib. We stood up for the Khalsa....And they brand us miltants.........

The layout of Brent Sikh Centre was shocking. I have never been to any UK Gurdwara that is so full of beadbi. The mona guy smoking outside the doorway was just the worst. A langar hall cum banqueting hall, where sangat walked around with shoes, without their head covered, sat on dinning tables being served so-called langar by waiters.

And then the committee guy tells us that they have no control over GuruJi's saroop outside the Gurdwara. Anyone can 'hire Guruji' for the day and do what they please!!!!

If this is not a Gurdwara but a punjabi centre (as the committee secretary claimed) then they must remove the Nishan Sahib, not have Guruji's Parkash, remove themselves from the UK Gurdwara directory and remove the Langar Hall sign above the entrance to the banqueting hall.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

We recieved some emails by some members about this issue. They want this thread to be closed because of their concern of peace within the Sikh gurdwara.

Since this is the local issue, we want sikh sangat of UK to solve it peacefuly. Legal action and calling police is not the way ! There is no court and judge who can solve the Panthic issue except the court power given to Akal Takht Sahib by our Guru Sahib.

We, on the behalf of sewadar team urge both sides to work out the issue without legal and police action.

Post will stay open as long it respects the forum Guidelines.

The committee claim it is a community centre and not a gurdwara so if we take their words this matter now concerns a community centre doing beadbi.

The "community centre" should be reported to the Akal Takht asap.

To Admin,

One thing to note this is not a Gurdwara, the Committee told us this is a Punjabi Centre.

The Committee Told us its ok for people to Smoke in the car park, people can dance in the Langa hall. Food being cooked by some hotel.

Kids Dancing with Shoes Near Guru jee, every one walking around with out they heads cover.

Does that sound like a Gurdwara to you.

It was a Very sad site............................................

To the people that sent the emails to Admin,

If we dont Name and shame these people, thing will get a lot bad in a few years.

Mod Note: Members can stay Gupt as long as they wish, pls don't use "You are scared" etc..

Waheguru jee made me walk on this Path, I will died on this path.

The Naujawan have followed logical reasoning from the start. Thay have stayed within the law and voiced their outrage.

The police were incorrectly informed about what was happening and Brent Sikh Centre better be ready for an invoice from the Police for wasting their time!

On arrival the Police themselves noticed that the Naujawan were not causing any problem and some also attended with their children. What is Brent Sikh Centre scared of? The Naujawan at no point asked for Avtar Hoonjan to step down as President. They just want confirmation that the Centre will not do beadbi of Guruji again, Why can the Centre not do this? Is it because the Centre make alot of money from this activity? Or they have bookings for future 'Weddings'? Why can this committee not face the Sangat?

The Committee have not acted as Sevadars but 'Owners' of Brent Sikh Centre. They have a responsibility and the Naujawan are reminding them of it.

Again the Naujawan's resolve is as per the procedures of the Committee. They want an emergency committee meeting to happen and formal response to the points (as per the Campaign's posting above)within 7 days.

.................Of course this is not an “attempt” to divert the topic because the original topic is no longer valid – as mentioned, an apology has been asked and Ardas offered so PLEASE back off and leave everyone in peace and enjoy life.

I would like to request the Admin to kindly close this topic and not to let any other message appear in this context. People are just using this site to gain advantage for their personal use. They are using the site as a media to create and stir up trouble for their personal gains. As it is you (the Admin) say “Controversial issues are not allowed”!!!

Wahe Guru Je Ka Khalsa!

Wahe Guru Je Ke Fateh!!

Why don't Brent sign the undertaking not to undertake more such beadbi ? They got more hotel weddings booked ?

Also why did the committee member claim it was not a Gurdwara but a community centre ?

I would kindly ask admin to keep this topic open until Brent undertake not to commit more such acts of beadbi.

Here we go again!

'Another Panthsewak' ask the committee to respond to the formal letter from the Campaign on behalf the Sangat within the timeframe and the issue will be resolved.

Your posting is not sufficient for the Sangat to have confidence that BSC have stopped beadbi of Guruji.
