Of course Sikhs got discriminated. Look you all know the situation - everyone is a victim of some corruption or prejudice in India.

My argument is that once Sikhs got the label of being anti-national unfairly because of Khalistani activity that discrimination went up 10 fold. The discrimination also became nasty and violent.

How did Khalistan come into equation according to you? Because according to me, the movement came after the govt's invasion. Give at least some facts for your statements

It was very refreshing to hear Sardar Manjit Singh – as it is not a viewpoint anyone outside India has the guts to express. We must separate “Sikh” interests from “Khalistani” interests. The 2 are opposed to each other.

Remember how Sikhs lived with arrogant pride, respect and relative prosperity before 84. All this was destroyed by the Khalistani movement . Let me highlight some of the points of the Khalistani episode that we brush under the carpet (or counter unconvincingly with conspiracy theories)

Hijacking buses – separating the passengers to kill non-Sikhs

Making the Harmindar Sahib a base camp for terror activities

Cutting holes in the marble to make machine gun placements.

Knowing full well that even an inept government will have to act to assert its authority and innocents will get killed............then assassinating the popular prime minister.

What did you think would result ? Was it any surprise that thousands of innocent Sikhs that never supported Khalistan got killed as collateral damage for the Khalistani cause.

The Khalistan agenda was thus achieved to the point where they managed to get great sympathy for the cause but could not actually deliver Khalistan. The government rightly gets the blame for the pogrom but who do you think is equally guilty ?

As respected Dr. Gurnam has said the idea of Khalistan is not practical or achievable. Therefore the only other option is making India work to its original secular ideals. That is the only way for Sikhs to flourish in ANY part of India

1. Who was doing the hijacking?

Hijacking buses and killing Hindu's was against the ethos of the dharam yudh morcha. Neither Sant Jee nor any panthic jathebandi advocated or directed the killing of innocent people. In fact in was common knowledge within panthic circles that the government was carrying out these atrocities to defame the Sikh movement. This was even admitted by the former DGP of police Ribeiro in his book.

2. The morcha was spearheaded from Sr Akaal Takht Sahib and the singhs were staying at the complex with consent of the quam. The allegation of 'terror tactics' is again classic government propaganda.

3. Where was marble cut or deliberate damage caused to the complex in preparation of the incoming attack? Sandbags were used for fortifications and no one could outweigh the respect given to the complex by the singhs who chose to die defending it,

4. The government attacked to destroy the strength and confidence of the sikhs.

Take your koorh parchar somewhere else..

1. Can you clarify what you mean by Sikhs were living with arrogant pride before 1984?

2. Do you know why Sikhs began to arm themselves? everything did not start with Sant Bhindranwale. One must go before 84 to see the background of what led to 84. Between 1947 to 1978, Sikhs only used peaceful means to achieve their goals. But that only resulted in Sikhs being killed, Punjab state being partitioned into Himachal, Haryana and even our capital city Chandigarh was to be shared. No other state in India has to share their capital city. Punjabi's river waters continued to be stolen against national and international laws. The straw that finally broke the camels back was when 13 peaceful Sikh protesters were killed in 1978. Still Sikhs had faith that maybe we can resolve this peacefully. But it didn't happen that way. The congress, Punjabi Hindu press fully supported the Nirankaris killing unarmed Sikh protesters and the Nirankaris who killed Sikhs were let free. This incident proved to the Sikhs that their defense is only in their own hands because Punjabi Hindus and congress had shown Sikhs that anyone who kills unarmed Sikhs will be protected.

This incident led Sant Bhindranwale and other Sikh groups to arm themselves for the protection of the Sikhs and later start a Punjab's rights movement in the form of Dharm Yudh Morcha. But this time, Sikhs would not remain silent if anyone killed Sikhs. Sikhs would retaliate. Sikhs punished the Nirankaris who had killed the Sikhs in 1978 and for that Sikhs take responsibility and also punished guilty Punjabi Hindus like Lala Jagat Narain. To this day Sikhs condemn whoever killed the innocent Hindus and fully deny their hand in it.

A total of 165 Hindus and Nirankaris are said to have been killed according to the government before operation bluestar happened. During that same time hundreds of Sikhs were also killed by the Hindus, Nirankaris and the Congress all before operation bluestar even happened but no one speaks of these victims since they were Sikhs. So for 165 people killed, the Government of India launched operation bluestar and ended up killings thousands of Sikhs! But if Sikhs were killed, no one is punished. 165 hindus and nirankars lives are equal to thousands of Sikh lives. Then when Indira Gandhi was killed, the Hindus and Jains killed thousands more Sikhs. So this time 1 life equaled thousands of Sikh lives.

Since you are here for dialogue, please be fair and open minded.
