Education of children and strengthening Sikhi roots from the beginning are extremely important and making them feel proud of our glorious history, reminding them of our shaheeds and kurbanian from Guru Arjan Sahib to present and spending precious time with them is the solution. Taking kids to the Gurdwara without them understanding the purpose or meanings of Gurbani is also where parents fail. Some are forced against their will to sit through katha for instance without knowing the basics and to them it is a foreign language as everyday Punjabi terms are not used. This results in weakness in the minds of these kids who turn to other faiths or give up hope when faced with the attractions/distractions of the world. If the seed is planted early on, even if children deviate (less likely if brought up properly) then there is a higher probability they will return to the fold of Sikhi.

Rest is down to karma sprouting for this lady so not for us to be judges, leave that to Dharamraj.

A decent girl with high morals/values and University do not mix together.

a lot of Sikh/Hindu girls have just become like typical white girls of modern Britian. Its about partying non stop, who can down the most drinks and who can flash the body parts the most in clubs. This is the empty life these people lead . No to mention drug and alcohol abuse, dating and sleeping around.

That is what Uni is all about. Girls have simply lost all their self respect. I saw one Sikh girl with a group of white lads?? Why is this girl hanging around a group of boys in the first place??

Both Hindus and Sikhs are facing a major problem of girls who are marrying the ingenious people of this country. within a generation or two it will become the norm for Sikh and Hindu girls to marry white people. And then Sikh and Hindu males will face a shortage of girls to marry. Its already happening. Many Sikhs and Hindus are going back to India to find a Wife as there are no decent ones left on this country.

This crisis is inevitable the girls of today are uncontrollable they are way to independent and strong willed to listen to their parents. to them being in love and relationships is all that matters. These girls enjoy to date non Sikhs while laughing behind their own parents faces. to them getting drunk and having as many flings as possible at uni is the way to go. How can anyone control these girls??

Sadly we cannot stop this. apart from educating our own families. ie our immediate relatives. I have done alot. ie I give speaches and tell them dating and all this malarky getting drunk is the fools life.

Your assessment is accurate. However there is hope i've noticed the trend of open minded young college and university going muslim girls now that are not conforming to traditional muslim parents views and marrying outside and their Sikh boyfriends and taking an interest in becoming Sikhs.... they love the easy going nature of women being much more free in Sikhism than in Islam.... and they love punjabi culture, bhangra music./movies, food.....

Also noticed alot more white women taking an interest in becoming Sikhs they are tired of their partying anything go lifestyles, alot of them too want to find a partner that wants long term but most white atheistic / Christian / jewish guys they come across just want to play the field sleeping with multiple women, get drunk and just basically enjoy life having fun and take no responsibilities..... the decent white women are looking for stability and guys who want long term with family values so look for that in asian guys who have religious values.... if the asian guys are like the white guys partying around they are not interested....if they can see the asian guys want commitment and will look after them they will conform to their belief system and cultural values.

So like with any organisation and business you have to analyse the trends and market your company to meet the needs required. And in the case of our religion the needs are out there for women of all backgrounds wanting decent caring guys with good values. Similarly guys want this too but guys will reject harshly any woman who has had a slaggish past so it serves as a warning for future girls to behave themselves if they want a decent guy and not ruin their futures.

In previous thread someone asked why the punjabi youth of sikh backrounds are not getting into Sikhi like previous generations. The answer is quite simple but has several factors why they are not.... the answer to the problem is give them something which benefits them on an individual level and they will get back into Sikhi.. So all these lost sheeps who are currently living non-sikh lifestyles, need the benefits of living a Sikh life over their non-sikh life... and the best way to do that is give them the beauty of guru granth and not force the guru khalsa panth down on them which the youth and particularly the naive young girls have been rebelling against for several decades.

Exactly what Inderjit singh veer said, no one has a right to judge her personally. Amount of stigmatization ostrasicization that goes in our community is unbelievable at nanaksar at gore rd this hindu who got converted to sikhi got ostracised for years, as he didn't know how to speak punjabi..after some time he left nanaksar not sure what happened..hope he didn't converted back....she has very right to revolt back against her character assassination done on this thread. We had many great sikh parcharikhs, not even single one of them would attack people like that in this thread, they would mention overall social issues and give guidance to address those social issues never against directly against people.

I guess he wasn't falling within the "acceptable" category, wasn't Punjabi speaking, wasn't born in a Sikh family, and most likely wasn't born in one of the "preferred castes" perhaps.

N30S1NGH, I possibly disagree with a number of things you say, but this comment of yours some 7 years ago sums it all up.

I really wonder, if this was an gori and came out with deep audio katha of japji sahib, jaap sahib, rehras sahib you people willl be all over her- seeking interviews/making her cds/writing big big articles, but just because she wears sadhu color adapted by lot of hindus sadhus, it pushed your senstive sensors(hinduphobia), you people got your knicker in twist
