Fair enough. You should tell those who support the geographical version of Khalistan though.

I think the name "Khalistan" is a terrible choice anyhow.

It's unfortunate that the punjab didn't go to the sikhs, instead of being divided into pakistan and hindustan.  I almost think it was intentional of the British, which is odd considering how much excellent and loyal service they've received from the khalsa.

Whatever you want to call it, Khalistan etc, I think you're right that ultimately it's in the hearts of people, but man how different things could have been if the Sikh people had been given self determination somewhere.

Miri and Piri comes to mind.  Maybe one "khalistan" is in the realm of miri and the other piri.  Unfortunately one of those was denied by the ignorance of imperialists.

The events following partition have been mainly horrible on both sides, but the immediate aftermath in the Pakistan side of Punjab....man..

Whether intentionally malevolent or simply ignorant, the way the land was partitioned was tragic.

Mankind is the only being on this planet that has no right to land.   The authority that thinks it owns the land is the authority of murder and imprisonment.  When this authority does not honor the social contract and respect the rights of the people, as is pretty much the case everywhere, the physical, mental, and emotional consequences are disastrous.

But hey, it's maya right, so....of course it would be backwards, to put it nicely.

Imperialism has always  been a cancer of this world.  very few empires have any sort of good track record in terms of serving the people or by being created through any sort of consensus or collaboration of the people that have a right to life there.

From what little I know of the jatha, it seems like a fairly good way to give local people control over their lives while allowing them to participate and collaborate.  The Lakota Sioux have an initiative, made popular by Russel Means (r.i.p.).  If anyone is interested Russels Means has an excellent documentary on youtube called "Welcome to the Reservation" that I think anyone could enjoy and learn from.

What I saw I did not like. Sikhs who follow alot of hinduism. Many also have to speak in the hindi language apart from a few. Who spoke in Punjabi. To be honest felt like an outsuder in dehli. Thats why cant wait to visit Punjab. Just did not feel I had any connection here. Hopefully Punjab will change my view of India.Particulaly amritsar which is my home town.

It’s not the poverty I’m talking about, it’s the other things, such as no system, no respect for others, etc etc. But obviously it’s worth visiting as it’s the dharti of the Gurus and that’s the only reason I’d  go again, not for anything else.

I’m not being picky, and being brown has nothing to do with it. Like I said I wouldn’t go back for the relatives but to visit as a tourist instead. Nothing wrong in that, nobody can force anybody to stay with anybody they don’t like or have been treated badly by.
