Why aren't British Sikhs as active/engaged as their Canadian counterparts in politics?

I wasn't specifically referring to getting one over Sikhs. In fact, I think you'd be in a prime position to boss the majority host community if certain manoeuvres were made and a few things went your way. 

But, yes, you make a good point about the likes of the Lebanese, Turks, Iranians, etc. That's easy to forget when one's experiences of Muslims are occasionally limited to the Pakistani demographic. I still have a feeling the needs of the Ummah would command some form of attraction for Muslims if the "prize" was in sight, but I defer to your knowledge of your own kind.

i think the main problem is that there is no town in the UK where Sikhs are the majority, apart from southall, but even southall is flooded with Somalians now. Even the town that im from if it wasn't for the illegal punjabi immigrants then the punjabi presence wouldn't be as strong

I wonder if the pakis (include banglas in it) had an long-term agenda of avenging the britisher kaafirs for destroying whatever was left of mughal empire . An islamic UK would be the ultimate slap of mughaloids (present day pakis) against the people who occupied what they deemed theirs since 800 years.

Whatever happens, don't repeat the mistakes we did before : becoming fodder for british armies against their enemies.

I don't understand why some "sikhs" look down at the illegal immigrants from Punjab, bachare have only come here to work like our parents did once! if it wasn't for them then there would be far less Sikhs in the multicultural towns of the UK. and they do a lot of seva at gurdwareh too

I don't think that's been the plan by design -- because that would require almost unheard of Machiavellian deviousness -- to organise and execute such a longstanding plan that will have been prone to so many unexpected variables and situations over the course of a few hundred years, BUT if it does come to fruition I suppose the victors will claim it was meant to be!

I agree. Their initial visual presence and enthusiasm is, as always, gradually tempered over the years and decades as the day-to-day realities, toils and the grind of the immigrant life takes its toll on us all, hehe. For the moment it's a bit of a novelty and quite a nice thing to see for Sikhs.

Watch any Harjap Bhangal show and that will give you a clearer reason why.

Somalis have been present in Southall from at least 1991.

The Ummah is useful for subcontinental muslims as their standing in the overall ummah is low.

The Turks, Iranians and Lebanese it is not so much.

The Turks and Iranians are the "big boys" of the Islamic world, the ummah is not so beneficial for them.

True. Also, Turks, Iranians and Lebanese in the West aren't even that religious based on my acquaintances. They never believed in the Ummah or propagating Islam - a prime example is Nader Shah's invasion of the Mughal Empire.

The Lebanese are increasingly seeing themselves as "Phoenicians " rather than Arabs.

The Iranians abroad are apparently dosassociating themselves from Islam, they are beginning to pay more attention to their pre-Islamic roots. 

The turkish diaspora largely would be perhaps be more secular due to Ataturk. Though Erdogan is doing his best to un-do that. 

If you notice one thing about these muslims and that they are white/fairer/olive skinned muslims.

There is a pecking order in the Islamic world and it is based on race.
