Really fascinating complex man. His art was a mix of Maths, Philosophy and Science. People are still trying to understand his work and thought. Like some other renaissance artists like Michelangelo, he also questioned Christianity through his art. He was more of a scientist than an Artist.   Really fascinating.

This famous drawing of his people are still trying to decode. Its a drawing of a mans body with the perfect proportions. He believed the way a mans body works corresponded with the way the universe runs. The angle of the mans arms interestingly are the same as the angle of the Pyramids.  For Whatever reason he also wrote backwards  like a mirror. The body is broken into 14 parts. Some people suggest that these divisions are in line with the Chakras. Vitruvian Man - Wikipedia

Another interesting painting is the last supper. Jesus with his disciples. You can not tell which disciple is who. Whats interesting about this paintings is that most the men have beards apart from one "man"   Jesus is in the center of the painting and the man next to Jesus leaning away from him is believed to be a woman, and looking closely you can see it resembles a woman more than a man. This figure is believed to be Mary Magdalene  who is the most controversial figure in Christianity. Its long been suggested that she was actually married to Jesus   but this was/is considered blasphemy by the Church and no one dared to mention it. The Church has gone as far as calling Mary Magdalene a <banned word filter activated> and through out history has attempted to either erase her or degrade her. The very idea of Jesus having a wife and possibly kids would shatter Christianity.  Whats interesting about this painting is that if you cut out the female figure and lean it against the figure of Jesus on the other side then she actually rests her head on his shoulders. You can also see how there is a very strong V shape between the two figures. Openly suggesting Mary Magdalene to be the wife of Jesus would of resulted in public execution so artists used to create hidden messages and meanings in their art,  you can find the same in the art of Michelangelo at the Sistine Chapel. It wasn't necessarily because they believed her to be the wife of Jesus but it was their way of questioning the faith and the hypocrisy of the Church.

Not sure y  but in some of his work the pupil of the right eye(subjects right eye) is slightly wonky or out of position    you can see it in his jesus painting as well as his famous drawing of the man

Artist Leonardo da Vinci likely had an 'advantageous' eye disorder ...

the man in this painting represents the universe too   he felt the the working of a mans body was in line with the workings of the universe. But i wonder why he made the mans feet in that position  its not in line with the rest of the drawing.

The Vitruvian Man is  based on Vitruvian principles, (Vitruvius Pollio)  not entirely though. The medium is pen and ink. The painting depicts Vinci’s keen interest in proportion. His male models were usually 6ft in height in most paintings, including his well known masterpiece ‘Mona Lisa’ with a weird smile!  In the Vitruvian Man, we notice the size of face is approximately 1/10 of the model’s height and foot is 1/6 of its total height. Interesting.  Many have endeavoured to interpret his  Canon of Proportions but in vain. Vitruvian Man also represents cosmography of the microcosm. The drawing is definitely an iconic symbol of human proportions.  The image is superimposed within a circle and a square forming an equilateral triangle between the legs, allowing Vinci to strike 16 poses simultaneously. Fantastic and inspirational work, not only for the Cubists but also for the Surrealists too!

no it was an entry to a contest amongst artists to square the cirlcle and draw the human in perfect scale  withing Vitruvian man is the result. Michaelangelo was a polymath , reputed to be able to be up any instrument and be able to play completely original compositions , spoke many languages was ambidextruous .

He wrote both ways but often right to left "backwards" because he was left handed and refused to conform to right handedness.

He was also known to write two pages at once, one with each hand, simultaneously, the left hand covering the left page right to left and the right covering the right page left to right.
