Blindian  Project: Celebrating black and South Asian relationships

Blindian Project: Celebrating black and South Asian relationshipsClose

'How do I introduce my partner to my parents?' That is the question Jonah Batambuze always gets from Asians who contact him.

So he has started running workshops to help couples prepare for tricky introductions.

He is the founder of Blindian Project, an online platform celebrating black and Asian relationships. He says anti-black racism within the South Asian community can be the biggest challenge for couples.

But recent events in the United States - Black Lives Matter protests and the election of Kamala Harris as US vice-president - are starting to shift attitudes in the South Asian community.

Produced by BBC Asian Network's Nalini Sivathasan. Additional filming by Baldeep Chahal and Suhail Patel.

Wow, that's amazing, almost as if these two totally unrelated events weren't meant to shape opinions and perpetuate a narrative. 😁

Just enjoy the show.

To be fair though, Asians with Black partners find it the hardest to be accepted, it is a issue ...

But why are they calling it the Blindian project, wouldn't Blasian be more accurate ?

Unfortunately same with those with white partners these mix race relationships rarely last long term and essentially are mostly about sexual grooming usually by the male . And the sad thing is most of these inter-racial relationships have alot of racism, domestic violence and sexual abuse that's never covered by any media. That's the downside the mainstream media never highlights or talks about, its way too taboo for them it seems.

The BBC is a far left media propaganda arm of the British government. Its a state funded broadcaster that's always been promoting things that are against the norm of things and what we would consider as the right path.

In terms of Sikhi we are taught you can get married to any person regardless of background as long as they opposite gender and their a fellow Sikh. And its always best to look for someone of your own background first and only as a last resort look outside your background to find a suitable partner but not outside the religion. I think that is the best formula and the best way to look at things. Relationships with non-Sikhs should be an automatic no no

    • It's been pretty comprehensive. Sticking just to the topic no question.
    • Basics of Sikhi made a video about that. The shabad was mistranslated.
    • Quick question: Didn't Guru Gobind Singh Ji say he wasn't Waheguru. Wondering if Guru Sahib meant that he wasn't solely Akalpurakh and how that would fit with the quotation above... Bhul Chuk Maaf 🙏
