I'm sure most of the people on here (apart from Dal Singh) are probably too young or weren't even born in 1984. I was 16 years old living in the UK then and I remember how Sikhs felt. There was a feeling that Khalistan is just around the corner but strangely enough there was very little support among the Sikh youth. I knew people my own age but many were just interested in the job situation and what college or university they were going to choose. The support was much more in the 30 and over age group. When I went to Punjab in 1988, I was under the impression that very few Sikhs supported Khalistan, this view was mainly because I tended to read the British press and watc…

Great text I been getting from some akj singhs: FWD:Attention true Singhs and Singhneeaa of Akhand Keertani Jatha! While the banee of our father, Sri Dashmesh Jee, is being foolishly disowned by manmukhs, you are humbly asked to fulfill a request. Each Gursikh is requested to pledge to sing at least one shabad by Sri Dashmesh Jee during your keertan slots. Lets love our father's baani and proudly carry on the legacy of Bhai Sahib Bhai Randheer Singh Jee a true lover of Dasam Banee. Plz fwd. Sevaks of Akhand Keertani Jatha.

I write this to salute the Sikh soldiers who deserted their regiments after the Blue Star operation on Sri Harmandir Sahib. Their bravery is remarkable. Just try to imagine the spirit in them. They gave up their careers and life long pensions for the sake of Panth. "Teri Ninda naa saharee". One of the leaders who led the mutiny was from a village near Amritsar. My grandmother knows his family and I just remember his last name -Randhawa. This young man was extremely brave and strong. The commander who was leading their regiment, said some derogatory things about the Sikhs and the militants inside Sri Harmandir Sahib. Randhawa could not tolerate it. He somehow got contro…

Thought I'd share this brief translation with the brothers and sisters who are interested in history and classical Sikh literature. This is from Suraj Prakash. Any suggestions for improving the translation are welcome:

Generally this feeling comes about after a person has tried his very best to get out of some trying circumstances. Having made full use of his sense of doing, he finds himself defeated on all sides, and then he turns to Him in desperation, leaving everything to Him; but this is no real surrendering. From the very beginning you should not make any effort to change your circumstances, but leave everything in His hands. Nanak's concept of supreme surrender is the ultimate spiritual path, the highest practice of a devotee. Then you needn't worry about choosing a path or method or scripture. You needn't worry about logic or proof of any philosophy; you have no use for any of…

There are two powers that alone can effect in their conjunction the great and difficult thing which is the aim of our endeavour, a fixed and unfailing aspiration that calls from below and a supreme Grace from above that answers. But the supreme Grace will act only in the conditions of the Light and the Truth; it will not act in conditions laid upon it by the Falsehood and the Ignorance. For if it were to yield to the demands of the Falsehood, it would defeat its own purpose. These are the conditions of the Light and Truth, the sole conditions under which the highest Force will descend; and it is only the very highest supramental Force descending from above and opening f…
