Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki Fateh! Not even a single Gurdwara i've visited has had katha or announcements in english or whatever the local language happens to be. Shouldn't there be someone who would translate it to the people who don't know punjabi? It would be important for both sikhs of other than punjabi backround and sikhs who've been born into punjabi families but haven't learned enough punjabi to understand everything. It would also make non-punjabi people feel much more welcome to the sikh community. Based on what i've read the 3ho seem to be doing good job with all this, but it should also happen in the punjabi run Gurdwaras. Personally, i think it'…

Dear Sangat, I was wondering if anyone knew which languages the Guru Granth Sahib has been translated into. As far as I know there are Englih, French, Hindi, Panjabi and Urdu translations. Is this correct? Are there others? Given that there are Sikhs in Singapore, China, Malaysia and Japan why have I never heard of a Japanese or Cantonese translation? Fateh

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Transliteration is how writing is changed from a writing system or alphabet to another, while making each sound stay the same. There are different systems of writing in the world. Some use letters to write out sounds, and others use characters to write out whole words that have many sounds in them. Transliteration is what happens when letters from an alphabet match letters of another alphabet, that have the same sounds. Most often this is done by spelling the sounds of one system, with the letters or symbols of another. For example, the English word "Vegetarian" if transliterate will be "ਵੇਗੇਤਾਰੀਆਂ", NOT "ਸ਼ਾਕਾਹਾਰੀ". http://www.…

Transport To European Parliament - Bhai Balwant Singh Ji Demo

WJKK WJKF There hasnt been much publicity on any Gurdwaras having coached to the Brussels Demo, I would of thought this is quite important as its our opportunity to be recognised at the European Parliament, getting attention of many countries. We would need a very big turn out otherwise itl just look like Sikhs are really not worth bothering about. Creating awareness is important. Also sikh council site I think it said the protest is on wed 28th but on another website it says thurs 29th.??????? which is it? And is the plan to go to the India Embassy? I only saw the mention of the protest on the sikh council website, but no major awareness on the media channels. plea…

I think this is one of best travel vlogs/ channels I have come across on youtube. The name of the channel is called Bald and Bankrupt. It follows the journey of an english man who travels to various parts of India and vlogs his experiences. He gives tours and insights. Below is one of his funniest videos. A guy who pesters him for 100 rupees.

i just recently took Amrit while i was in india and on my way back to canada i had to take my kirpan off. does everybody have to do this??? i had a smaller kirpan hangin off of a thread at first and i wore it from amritsar to singapore and then after that the plane was going to land in korea and i didn't want to risk it so i took it off also. the reason i took it off was because in amritsar the security was making a big deal about nailcuters etc. i just want to know if anyone else has experienced this and i'm there are. when i got home i took a shower and did JapJi sahib and then did ardass and put my kirpan back on.

So it looks like I will not be able to avoid going to Punjab to take care of some business matters related to inherited property. Long story short, I don't feel comfortable taking rides from relatives or staying at their houses. I do not like my relatives and cannot stomach the thought of relying on them. I would like to stay on my own and travel on my own. Can you guys please offer some good suggestions on how to travel from Delhi airport to Moga safely and independently? And would a small city like Moga have a decent hotel that I can stay at? I am primarily concerned about people being able to tell that I am an NRI and trying to take advantage of me. …

Can we as U.K. Sikhs learn some things from the Irish Traveller community? I dont mean the crime and bad behaviour some of them are associated with or the law levels of literacy But they are close knit community and rarely marry outside. They stick together. They teach their kids to be tough from a young age, which I think we should too
