Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Punjabi and Gurmukhi There appears to be a lot of confusion regarding Gurmukhi and Punjabi. The assumption a lot of people seem to make is that there is a language called Punjabi (what we use everyday) and there is the language called Gurmukhi - the language used to write the Guru Granth Sahib. So is there two languages ?? Did the Guru's use different language called Gurmukhi?? The answer is No. Before going further ,apply some logic yourself, would you (if trying to convey a message to a lot people) write the message in new language , which everybody would have to learn before deciphering the message , OR woul…

A muslims came too me and said to me 'Your religion is meant to believe in equality and you lot have Gurdwhara named after caste like Ramgharia and i end up saying to the muslim that your religion is meant to believe in equality as well so why do women have to cover themself head to to, and men dont, that is'nt equality. Also, if a man commits suicide he gets 72 virgens in Heaven and if a women commits suicide she dont get nothing that is not equality. Also muslims said to me that 'You arent allowed to drink alcohol and i said neither are you and your religion says if you go to heaven their will be rivers and rivers of alcohol for you to drink. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Prithia was composing his own religious hymns which he described as compositions of Guru Nanak and his successors. The ignorant people did not have sufficient intelligence to discriminate. Guru Arjan, therefore, felt the need to lay down rules to guide his followers in their daily religious duties. He made plans for the compilation of Adi Granth. For that purpose he chose a secluded spot outside the city which is now called Ramsar. He got a tank excavated there. Tents were erected for the accommodation. Guru Arjan took abode near the tank and dictated hymns to Bhai Gurdas who wrote them down. The verses were arranged accor…

vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Sant Isher Singh Ji was born of Mata Ratan Kaur, in the household of Sardar Ram Singh Nambardar, on 5th August 1905 at village Allowal, district Patiala. The parents named their son Gulab Singh. Nobody knew that one day this "Gulab" (meaning rose) would spread his fragrance far and wide. He received the basic worldly education from the primary School of village 'Chulela'. For higher schooling he went to his uncle at Patiala and passed his matriculation examination from the Model School. Thereafter the worldly education could not hold his mind and in the state of asceticism he became the disciple of Sant Attar Singh Ji …

VJKK VJKF OK enlighten me Sadh Sangat Ji... a Gurdwara i know has this rule... unless u wear a kurta u cant sit on stage. NOW, sumthing like this is fairly common in India yeh where the kurta has to be as plain as possible and the women have restrictions to the type of suits. But how come when someone is itching to do keertan on stage whilst wearing clothes that are simpler than most kurtas and suits the other keertani on stage was wearing, the person is not allowed to sit on stage? For example, is plain black trousers and a plain coloured top worse than a woman wearing frilly multicoloured suits or guys wearing kurteh pyjama that looks like a night suit or that has ju…

sangat ji, I attended the bhog of a sehaj paath and when the Bhai ji did Ardaas he did not say "Sri" before each Guru ji's name, he just said Guru Nanak Dev and so on. Then after he read hukamnama and he began to explain it he said that this is Guru Arjan Dev ji's bani (Suhi something, sorry forgot whole name). He didn't say Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji. So my dad was kinda offended that the Bhai ji did not say the Guru's name with Sri cuz Sri shows "satkaar" to the Gurus. So, which way is correct way to refer to any of 10 Guru jis? Should we say Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji or is it ok to just say Guru Nanak Dev ji? :T: thanx

I recently heard about the thefts occruing at dixie gurdwara. I think the sangat should know about the golik beinging stolen. It was not stolen once but several times within a short period of time. A lot of the sangat does not know about this and im sure if they did they would take some action. The golik was never stolen before but recently it was stolen several times, the sangat should be questioning the committe as to how the money could have gotten stolen so many times, and why the money was not counted after the programs. I think this is a very important issue that all sangat should be informed of since it is our money that is being stolen, the money we put in the gol…
