i have a friend who took amrit wen he wos younger and since then has done many bad things, like drugs and theft and other stuff. now he is going bak on2 the line of Sikhi but these things r holding him bak, he thinks of the mistakes he has made and this stops him from going out 2 the world 2 face ppl, wot can he do 2 clear his conceince? Does maharaj forgive some1 who tries but keeps on sining?

Sangat Ji, I've come across many times that when there is a problem that needs to be sorted at the gurdwara Commitee members dont act as quickly and responsibly as they should. I've seen many times committee members just roaming around having nothing to do and just chat about general social life rather than the issues about the Gurdwara Sahib itself. Is this just me stereotyping or are all commitee members like this?

Is it wrong to talk to other gursikhs and ask their advice if you are feeling upset, in pain emotionally etc? Doesn't Gurbani say "sarb rog ka aukhad naam" meaning that all pain is dispelled by doing simran? And what about all the tuks in bani that say that Guru Sahib is everything to us and therefore we should not rely on other people to help us through difficult times? It's just confusing because sometimes it can help to talk to people when it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunel, but at the same time, we should be able to deal with things ourselves and only take Guru Sahib's support. What does the sangat think?

Fateh Sangat Ji, I seriously need some help. For the past couple of days I'm getting so angry and <Edited> off even jelousy kicks in at times. Even little things get at me. I dont know why this happens. I try calming myself down by doin Simran Jaap and mt Paaht, it's ok for a while, but then I start to kick off again. It's just the smallest of smallest things that piss me off and get me swearing. (Like my siblings etc...) I dont want to swear because I'm planning on taking Amrit but before I take Amrit I want to take this Krodh & jelousy out of me. But I'm seeming to get no where with it. Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it. -
Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing.
