  1. As in Grays, you will probably find that the rally could go on for several hours. The Sangat stayed in the Grays Gurdwara Complex for over 7 hours. So the rally is likely to tip into Saturday evening and even further. The media would have also been expected to attend, I believe BBC WM, ITV Central, Sunrise TV expressed an interest in covering the satkaar rally as they had made contact/asked for statements from some UK Sikh organisations regarding the Akal Takht Sandesh & Sikh Rehit Maryada. Coverage was also obviously expected in Punjabi/Sikh media which would have raised further awareness to the wider Sikh community. Anyway, fortunatly the Pardaan of RST, Mr Jasvinder Singh Sagoo, is showing a great deal of support for the Uk sangat's concerns about meat, sharab and parties in MJSR Hall and Akal Takht Sandesh. It looks less and less likely that there may be a need for the demo on the 15th at RST. I suppose the meeting with satkaar will formally finalise everything.

  5. Marriages of Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji When Guru Ji reached the age of 18, his personality and beauty reached its peak. He was very attractive. Guru Ji was of medium build and slim. Guru Ji's beautiful face was showing the first signs of very fine facial hair. He is said to have possessed such an attractive personality tht anyone who saw him could not resist hugging him. Mata Gujri, the mother of guru Sahib Ji thought that it was time to marry Guru Sahib Ji. Guru Gobind Singh Ji got married to Mata Sindari Saroop from Lahore on Vaisakhi day 1684. The climate prevailing in the country did not allow Guru Ji to go to lahore, instead the marriage took place at Guru Ka Lahore. According to the Mahan Kosh Granth, Guru Ji's wife Mata Sundari Ji was from Lahore. She was the daughter of Bhai Ram Saran Kumrau Patri . Many thought that this was Guru Sahib Ji's second marriage but it seems more than likely that Mata Sundari Ji's name prior to marriage was Mata Jito Ji. It was most likely ji that Guru Ji named her Sundari Saroop. Two different names led to the assumption of two different marriages and hence two different partners.

  6. Is that how sophisticated your political mind is WL? That you think it okay to affiliate with the causes of low class yobbos? Can you SERIOUSLY not see how much of a dumb move that is? SERIOUSLY! I am absolutely flabbergasted. Did you ever stop to think that you might actually be besmirching the good name of Sikhs with such a move. Did you ever stop to give some thought to the mindsets of large swathes of EDL types? As we say in East London: "You sure you're not being a mug mate?!" If your idea of Sikh political expression is to align yourself with groups consisting of open and closet nazis, the barely literate and common yob football hooligan types who couldn't even handle a GCSE in their own language, then I'm sorry but you are a walking example of the Indian ideal of a 'politically clueless Sikh' you speak of. Besides your other points are well off. I'm against all of this overly nationalistic 'posturing' by apnay in their diasporic homes. American apnay can be some of the worst at this. Probably because they are crapping themselves. As an old schooler in the UK myself, I'm fiercely proud of my people's past of facing up to and telling white yob types (be they EDL or BNP or NF) to **** off, when needed. I feel deeply ashamed that any Sikh brother would even entertain the notion of solidarity with such low life sc-um. You need to straighten your head out - and real quick too.

  9. it beggars belief how dumb our people can be sometimes. Look.. lets rewind and go back to basics. EDL: Who are they? The are a MIXTURE of different schools of thought, united against the islamification of Britain and extremist forms of Islam which may pose a direct physical threat. There is a good percentage of genuinely concerned individuals, and also good percentage of racist thugs. UAF: Who are they? Supposedly anti-racists, but in the demos, mostly made up of Black and muslim street youth, aswel as militant Islamists. plus small percentage of hippy, tree huggers and genuine anti-fascists Ok so who do Sikhs support? Ermm.. well we do not want militant islam to rule us, but we also dont wanna get head butted by a skin head trying to kick us out of the country. How about we support NO ONE! Both of them pose a threat to some degree to Khalsa Priciples. Sit at home.. Gosh man, when we need Sikh support against beadbi or Sikh human rights, these guys arnt no where to be seen. And its so annoying when you politicians speak on behalf of Sikh youth, because you don't have a clue Turban Campaign- Why don't you collect those signatures against the Turban Ban in France?! That's a better suited and appropriately named campaign But saying all this, if I was forced to choose in favour of one parties, it would be EDL, Why? Because: - 90% of racist attacks I have seen on Sikh youth have been by Paks - All cases I have known of paedophilia groomed abuse of young Sikhs girls has been at hands of Pakistanis - Racist attacks at events, Gigs, Vaiskahi events, melas, eid have been by Pakistanis - Kidnap cases of Sikh girls by Paks. Those marginalised, frustrated Sikh youth, fed up with the system, Fed up with the Gurdwaras will find refuge with EDL. People like Gurmit Singh, and many others. The Turban Campaign will only push more of these people towards the EDL. It is stupid and dangerous. As Sikhs, we should stand for our own Agenda's.. We have good singh's doing sewa in these fields, who are helping victims, and highlighting issues. Support them, listen to them, understand the problem. Don't be a Publicity hungry Bandwagon fool!

  10. There's ways of making a stand against certain Islamic groups without joining the EDL. We're not doing ourself any favours by aligning with these far-right groups - even though they argue they aren't far-right.

  12. EDL is a recent phenomena which has gained alot of support from common goreh and few non whites in the UK. It is trying to go global. Naturally a movement of this type will attract large numbers of hate mongers and racists. However there is one side to this which is often overlooked. The increasing influence of militant islam needs to be put in check in the uk. Such organisations appear to slow down the progression of Islamicists such as Anjem Choudary the infamous Muslim cleric Nutcase. He has gone unchecked for years, allowed to say what he wants un-challeneged. Well not anymore, things are about to change. It provides good entertainment to see the two sides go at it. 1 thing i will say is if Sikh Leaders jointly condemn EDL... They should at least be more voiceful about their condemnation of Muslim clerics like Anjem Choudary. Commenting on recent groups is easy. How about the ones that have been around for years hate mongering? ALmahajaroon the organisation he leads. Then once it was banned in uk, he changed the name to Islam4UK. condemn these organisations openly and we will see less sikhs sympathising with EDL yobs.

  13. Yes, we do shasterdhari but at same time we do need to have security mesures in place. Even in the Guru Sahiban time Singhs would have night duty to make sure they were never caught off guard. It is useless to have weapons if you don't even see the attack coming and get caught off guard.
