  4. I know may sound a bit crazy but you could try talking to Vaheguru. Just talk, out loud or in your mind, they are always listening and will help. Also helps you build that relationship and become closer. You could also confide in one of your friends too if you can;t with your family. You have to make that step of opening up a bit but remember its a two way thing. listen as well as talk. And think positive... The glass is half full!

  7. That's slightly rude. Yes, because people who leave school don't know what day of the week it is. Stop being so obnoxious. How are these youngsters meant to know the "laws governing our 5K;s"? You don't learn about that in school. It's OUR DUTY as older Sikhs to teach them about the laws.

  11. I find it frustrating and disrespectful too. Most people go to the Gurdwara but they don't see Guru Ji, they see a book and hence prioritise themselves over it. If Guru Ji were sitting in human form, you know everyone would be silent and obedient. Similar reason why people follow other humans (eg Sants, Mahapurkhs) - because it's easier to focus, see and listen to than to Guru Ji. It's not just women, but children are free to run around, cry and shout and scream.

  12. ~ Discourses With Saints - Satsangat A Sakhi About Bhagat Kabir Ji ~ Bhagat Kabir Ji had a seven year old daughter who was very interested and fascinated by her father. One day she asked Bhagat Kabir Ji, "Father 500 to 600 people come to see you every day to get your sangat. What is the point in them coming every day, what do they achieve?" Bhagat Kabir ji smiled and then replied, "They are here for satsangat to get knowledge of life's purpose and to find the truth. To get freedom, to be happy forever, to have wisdom and emancipation." Bhagat Kabir Ji's daughter was astonished to hear this but didn't believe her father, "I don't believe you dear papa ji; I don't believe that people come here for what you have said!" While Bhagat kabir ji in deep Samadhi just kept quiet. Bhagat Kabir Ji's daughter was a clever young girl and she took it upon herself to test her dad's words. Beginning of the next day she stood outside. Per usual as people started to come to see bhagat Kabir ji, she approached each one and said. "Today my father has decided to interview you and after the interview he will call you inside. But before you enter to see him I have been appointed by my dad to carry out a special task. In my hand I have a very sharp chopper; to enter and see my father you must first put your head down on this log of wood and I will then chop it off." There was a deep silence and the congregation took a step back after hearing the little girl's words. Eventually one man came forward and muttered under his breath, "No, I don't think you know why I'm here.... We are here to arrange the engagement of our daughter, as we had some time to spare we decided to have the guru's blessings but now instead we salute to you and take leave". Like this another group of people had a lawsuit, which they needed the guru's advice on. Similarly another person wanted to know how to deal with their marriage partner. The rest of the congregation wanted to know how to solve their personal or business relationships. After some time and with people coming out with all sorts of excuses; no one was ready to give up their head and present it to Bhagat Kabir Ji. ਕਬੀਰ ਜਉ ਤੁਹਿ ਸਾਧ ਪਿਰੰਮ ਕੀ ਸੀਸੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੋਇ ॥ kabeer jo thuhi saadhh pira(n)m kee sees kaatt kar goe || Kabeer, if you desire to play the game of love with the Lord, then cut off your head, and make it into a ball. ਖੇਲਤ ਖੇਲਤ ਹਾਲ ਕਰਿ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਹੋਇ ]239] khaelath khaelath haal kar jo kishh hoe th hoe ||239|| Lose yourself in the play of it, and then whatever will be, will be. ||239|| After a lengthy period of time Bhagat Kabir Ji came out and asked his daughter why no one came to satsangat today. She answered, "Today I told them my father wanted to interview them first. I explained that you wanted their heads chopped off before they came to see you. But no one dared to enter! Nobody presented their head!! Nobody allowed me to chop of their heads!!! So what is the use of your satsang my dear father?" ਸਤਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਗਾਖੜੀ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ sathagur kee saevaa gaakharree sir dheejai aap gavaae || It is very difficult to serve the True Guru. Surrender your head; give up your selfishness. The little girl knew exactly what the aim of satsangat was and answered her own question. "Father, everybody has to die. From the day this body takes birth, death is always following it from behind." Bhagat Kabir's daughter in tears of sadness then remarked, "If they only laid down to be beheaded they would have realised the truth of what death is! After realisation of this they would have then understood what it is like to live for the first time!" No one agreed to live!!" The young seven year old then said, "Father please please take pity on them, they don't understand. They have been blinded like this for millions of years and they will continue to suffer every day until they learn how to live. These I's, you's, me's, he's and she's are not allowed in satsang!" Bhagat Kabir Ji then looked at his daughter with undying love and replied, "Yes, you were the only one whoever attended satsangat, everybody else was never there; you are the only one who got it. You are facing truth, freedom, your own self (god)." Who can kill you? You are afraid of your own self? You depend on others for comfort. You depend on matters, which are not permanent. Millions of times you have been born and millions of times you have been dead. You know the taste of death very well, so you like death?! Don't you like to live forever! But it's so simple. So simple to be happy, to live forever and to be in total bliss. But why do you want death instead! Why!!! You are changing this garden of love and grace into a butchery. Just keep quiet and meditate on god, find him, realise him. You never have allowed time to your own self. You have been using your head for a million of years. Now at least give time to your heart and realise your god. ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਵੇਚਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਸਿਰੁ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ than man gur pehi vaechiaa man dheeaa sir naal || I have sold my body and mind to the Guru, and I have given my mind and head as well. 13. I think this is spot on. Well put. He struck a blow to a zulmi sarkar within the remit of his own dharam (I presume as I know nothing of Buddhism). Just because it doesn't fit into our Sikh way of doing things, doesn't make it wrong. I tell you, some of you guys are some seriously narrow minded geezers........ N30 already made a point, that if the guy had been an apna protesting against 1984 a lot of people would probably be calling him a maha shaheed. Plus when I read more recent Sikh history I swear I've read of a few occasions of 'Sikh leaders' who've threatened self immolation or 'fasts till death' in some protest or another. If I recall rightly Fateh Singh was one such person who threatened this (some time in the 70s) over the way Punjab was robbed of Chandigarh. When he did this, no one made any noise about it being 'unSikh', even if the guy never ended up doing it in the end for whatever reason. I'm not promoting or recommending self immolation to anyone by the way, in case some dimwit takes it that way.

  14. Khalsa ji, Quite often we don't realise how samrath our Guru Sahib is. I watched the story of Vasakhi on Sunday which was on BBC 1 and again two ppl Sonia Deal and Tony Nagra, who are always trying to bring Sikhi in the media, but with made up stories, like the one about Vasakhi, when we have a real eye witness account. Why do we be little our Great Guru Sahib's not only these jokers who are not even sikhs (TONY &Sonia) but people who are dressed like Gursikh? Why is there such an erge to fit in with the masses and then alter our history so the western world can accept us'? I rather tell it like it is and not be accepted than alter our history I don't care if they say I'm pagal, Guru Ji is Samrath Sahib and no one can ever have the know how, or brain power to know what our Guru sahibs can do. I don't see Christian people denying that Jesus rose from the dead or he did miricle. When we also aware that Great Gursikh's during the Guru Sahibns ji's time and after Guru Ji had more shakti and samratha than Jesus. Eye witness account of Vaisakhi - 1699 THE ACCOUNT: "On the day Guru Gobind Singh Ji prepared Amrit in Anandpur, the attendance in the Diwan was about 50 to 70 thousands. The Mughals had four thrones (seats of Imperial Power), Delhi, Agra, Lahore and Kalanur, but the grandeur of Guru Ji's throne was in a class by itself. The grandeur of this throne was out of this world. Guru Ji came to the Diwan and, unsheathing his sword, spoke in his thundering voice that he needed a head. No questions or hesitation at all, Bhai Dya Ram came forward to Guru Ji. Guru Ji right in front of all, cut off his head from the body in one stroke. Every body present was stunned. Then Guru Ji again thundered and demanded one more head. Right on Guru's call, Dharam Chand got up, came to Guru Ji, bowed his head and said here is my offering of my head. Guru Ji, again, in one stroke cut off Dharam Chand's head from his body. Now there was a big commotion in the Diwan. But Guru Ji in his thundering voice went on demanding heads, one after the other. Himmat Rai, Mohkam Chand and Sahib Ram got up and offered their heads. Guru Ji cut off the heads of these three also. Many from the congregation went to Guru Ji's mother, and narrated the whole happenings in the Diwan to Mata Ji. Guru Ji cleaned up the blood from the five bodies and heads, and even washed the floor, Then the Guru of these infidels, stitched one head with other body, one by one. This process took about three hours. Then he covered these dead bodies with white sheets. The Guru of the infidels then took a cauldron made of stone and put an iron wok without handles on top of it. Poured water into the wok and started preparing the "Amrit" (Aab-e-hyat - Elixir of life). The infidel Guru kept churning the water with his sword and kept on reciting his Kalma (Gurbani). This process went on for 1.5 to 2 hours. During this time, a lady from Guru's house came and put something in that water. Now the Amrit "Elixir" was ready. From the corpses, he took the covering sheets off. First he sat on the head side of Dya Ram, and poured AMRIT "Elixir" in his mouth, then poured some on his head and sprinkled some on his body, and then he asked the dead body to say "Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh." As if on his Guru's Command, Dya Ram got up and repeated in his bold voice, "Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh." It appeared that in the entire congregation every body was so stunned and as if stopped breathing. There was pin-drop silence. All those present were mesmerized with their Guru's miracle. In the same manner, one after the other, Guru made the other four alive too. Then, he took all five of them inside a tent. After a while Guru Ji along with the five came out. The Five were now wearing new attire. Those five risen from the dead were standing in a line. Then Guru came in front of them and took the "Bir Asan" (Posture of the brave - kneeling on one knee) and asked for the Amrit "Elixir." At this point, these five asked, what are you offering to get this Amrit "Elixir." Then Guru said that I would sacrifice my parents and my sons for your sake. Then these five gave Amrit "Elixir" to Guru Ji, and his name was changed to "Gobind Singh." The word "Singh" was attached with other five's too - Dya Singh, Dharam Singh, Himmat Singh, Mohkam Singh and Sahib Singh. I was very remorseful and cried like a baby. After that, thousands took the AMRIT "Elixir". Even, I was attracted by a magnetic force and with utmost regret fell on Guru's feet. I requested Guru to give me Amrit (Aaab-e-hyat) too. Guru Ji already knew about my role as a spy and a traitor, put his hand on my back, gave me Amrit and changed my name to Ajmer Singh. Just with this act, my sins of numerous lives got washed away. I participated in many wars. On that day, I sent my last report to Emperor Aurang Zeb. In this report I wrote my eyewitness account in details. I also warned Aurang Zeb in the strongest possible words not to dare challenge the incarnation of God, and desist from cruel policies and that if he did not listen to and act on my advise, then God forbid, he would lose all - his throne and family."

  15. Damdami taksal was in full force in 1980's and nobody (sgpc/akali dal etc) could raise a hand against Sant Jarnail Singh ji Khalsa because every single panthic sikh organization consider him and his jatha as the representative of Sikhs all over the world. Even today... Sikh resident of Amritsar and Gurdaspur district are very respectful to Taksal jatha. In 80's longowal and tohra were very afraid of Sant Jarnail Singh ji khalsa Bhinderanwalay. They knew that if the did something wrong, they won't escape the wrath of sikh sangat led by sant ji. Not sure about tohra but longowal later came out as panth traitors by having Rajiv-Longowal Act. Also, SGPC was not pro-government run organization back in late 70's and early 80's.

  17. What makes you so sure? This is an extract from the works of Bhai Rattan Singh Bhangoo from Prachin Panth Parkash Granth. Bhai Vir Singh also mentions this in Dasmesh Chamatkar. Panth Parkash is widely accepted so I dont know how you can make such a statement without a reason behind it.

  20. That being said, you know there is a strong case for saying that apneean who do elope off are doing so because they've bought into gora notions of romance. Yes, there is a lot we can learn from them (mainly technology and being politically sly), but there is also an awful lot from that quarter we'd probably do well to keep away from too? Note to those who do this without posting: Instead of just hitting the minus buttons without explaining what you disagree with, please try and offer an alternate point of view and explain your opinion. Thanks in advance. :smile2:

  23. Thing we need to notice as well is how whites themselves are playing this up as a problem between nonwhite men and their white girls. This is dodgy and we shouldn't be blind to their own agenda in all this. A lot of us will know that Sikhs in the UK have been making noise about this for A LONG time but now the British media are dealing with it, it seems that they want to make it into a skin colour issue. They don't give too much of a crap about apneean either it seems and just want to protect their own?

  24. These things don't seem to get picked up by the international media. Plus even if they were/are, I don't think it will effect the business ties India's made with outsiders. But yes, it is important that other Sikhs are made aware of this.

  25. It was well made, big up to the BBc for putting this out. And with a decent time slot before the F1 instead of at about 10pm, when either everyone is in bed as they have work in the morning or they are watching star plus lol
