  4. West London Singh Rather than patronise people why not come up with the facts and figures. Amritsar city was never majority Muslim. Muslims were 47.8% in 1941 at a time when the census was heavily skewed against the Sikhs as the Sikhs and Hindus were in the throes of the non-cooperation movement and the Muslims having a Unionist government in charge were able to massage the census figures. There is no doubt that Sikhs committed many atrocities in East Punjab just after the partition line was drawn. Maybe sitting in sofa pontificating about how Sikhs murdered Muslims gives you some kind of buzz but what is important is to consider why the atrocities happened. Half the Sikh population had just been ethnically cleansed from West Punjab. A great many historic shrines were now left in Pakistan, millions of acres of ther best land in Asia was in one stroke taken from the owners and passed to the tenants. There was no reason for Muslims to leave East Punjab. The Nehru and Gandhi fools would have wanted the East Punjab to remain 30% Muslim and the Sikhs and HIndus from West Punjab either sent back as refugees to Pakistan or resettled outside of Punjab. The Jathas that went to work on the Muslims did so after the realisation came to Sikh leaders that the Pakistani would force all the non-Muslims out but still want to retain a fifth column of Muslims in East Punjab. If the Muslims had stayed then after 1947 the Sikhs would still have been a minority in places like Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. Massacres were committed on both sides. The clearing of Amritsar after 1947 was a direct result of the violence committed by Muslims against the non-Muslims in March 1947. The reason that Muslims MIGHT have had more dead than Sikhs who because apart from the Sikhs in Rawalpindi area who were subject to a general massacre, the Sikhs from Lyallpur and Montgomery were all former soldiers and their families who were allotted land in these districts after WW1. When they left the district it was organised into Jathas with jatha leaders, lookouts and scouts. The Muslims who left East Punjab did so in a general panic and their caravans were not wel organised. The Sikhs of Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Sheikhupura owned a majority of the land, hence they also had the wherewithal to organise their caravans well. The facts of the massacre were that Pakistan was sold to the Muslim masses of West Punjab as a way in which they would be able to appropriate the land of the Sikhs and the factories of the Hindus. If the Sikhs and Hindus stayed in West Punjab then what was the reason to have a Pakistan when the Muslims would still be tenants of the Sikh landlords and still have to repay the money that they had borrowed off the Hindu moneylenders. The reason for the massacre of Muslims inm East Punjab was -; 1. To create space for the Sikhs and Hindus who were being forced out of West Punjab. 2. Revenge for the killings of Sikhs and Hindus in March 1947 and after. 3. As with no.1 to create an area where the Sikhs would be a majority and not face the same situation again As for Malerkotla, I'll go out on a limb here. It was wasn't to do with the story of the Sahibzadas, it was two things. One the Jathas did not feel the need to attack the Muslims in the state as the Muslims of Malerkotla had not attacked Sikhs there. Muslims in other East Punjab areas had attacked Sikhs. A case in point was the 'Bet' area which was the lowlying land both sides of the Satluj river which had Muslim villages. Muslims in the bet area of Ludhiana had attacked Sikhs who were passing through the area. The other reason for not attacking Malerkotla was that the belief was that as nearly all the non-Muslims had left West Punjab then the Muslims of Malerkotla too would be evacuated by the military. This is an interesting discussion but marred by people how think they know more but cannot back their statements with facts.

  7. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh Im new to the community and I have seen alot of articles complaining about manmukhs doing bad stuff. Then in the comments people say bad stuff about the manmukhs. Rehat Maryada clearly says not to get revenge or retalliate useing kordi boli(bad words phrases anything that might anyone) if your ina life death matter then yes self defence is acceptable. Guru Gobind Singh always explained others sins with respect and love. As a follower of sikhi it is not right to use language lke that. May the sin be wrong yes i wont deny that but the way you deal about it or complain about it is. Please consider this waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

  8. Balwant Singh Rajoana, a convict in the former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh’s assassination case, who had requested a court to fix the date for his execution, will be hanged in Patiala central jail at 9am on March 31. This would be the first execution of a convict in the state in 24 years. Chandigarh additional sessions judge Shalini Nagpal on Sunday issued orders for the implementation of the death warrants against the Babbar Khalsa activist. The order for carrying out the death sentence was issued on the request of Rajoana, who did not challenge his conviction. As a trial relating to recovery of RDX is pending against Rajoana, Patiala jail authorities wrote to DGP jails, seeking clarification on whether a death warrant can be carried out when a case is under judicial process against a convict.Rajoana is presently lodged in Patiala central jail. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Punjab/Patiala/Beant-Singh-case-convict-to-be-hanged-on-March-31/SP-Article1-824963.aspx

  10. Vaheguru Jee, I sit here awaiting you, tears rolling down my eyes... Oh my lord, I’ve finally renounced all and have come knocking at your door, Please accept me as your true sikh, I promise I wont be unfaithful again for sure... I gave my heart, love to the temporary and attached myself to this transitory show, But when I took amrit didn’t I promise to sell my head to you, I never really did and thats why all this woe, Finally here to serve you with all my heart, How can I live without your naam, You are the only companion I need, how can I even begin to praise you? As each moment passes by, I will keep you clasped to my heart, Naam is the truth, the rare jewel, Rare are those who appreciate and hold onto the naam, While others waste away and lose this game of life.. Maya is out there to get us all, But “Says Kabeer, you can win or lose”

  12. Baba Mohan Singh of Bhinderkalan is a great role model of a true Gursikh sant. Several years ago, Badal came to Bhinderkalan to meet with Baba Ji, Baba Ji refused to meet Badal, and instructed the Singhs to feed the "guests" langar - and stated there is no reason to meeting these superficial leaders. He has NEVER attended any political programs by Badal or any other politicans - he is the true example of a Gurmukh.

  16. Parkash Singh Badal was today sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab for a record fifth time. His son and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. Sixteen other legislators took the oath of office and secrecy and allegiance to the Constitution as Cabinet ministers to run the Punjab Government for the next five years. With this, Badal becomes the oldest and the most experienced Chief Minister in the country. He will be the leader of the House in the 14th Punjab Vidhan Sabha that will meet for the first time on March 19. He was the first to take oath at the Banda Bahadur Memorial at Chappar Chiri, 15 km from Chandigarh, by Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil. The 18-member Punjab Cabinet has 14 ministers from the SAD and four from the BJP, its pre-poll alliance partner. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by thousands of supporters and political leaders from across the country. Leaders from Sant Samaj, which was part of the SAD-BJP alliance, were given special attention and were made to sit on a stage. The Cabinet is a single-tier one with all ministers being granted Cabinet rank. Among these 18, four ministers each are from Majha and Doaba regions. while Malwa has 10 ministers, including the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister. The distribution of ministries is based on the region-wise proportion of constituencies in the state. The ministers from Majha who were sworn in today are Adesh Partap Kairon, Bikramjit Singh Majithia, Anil Joshi and Gulzar Singh Ranike. Doaba is represented by Jagir Kaur, Ajit Singh Kohar, Sarwan Singh Phillaur and Bhagat Chuni Lal. The 10 ministers from Malwa are the Badal father-son duo, Madan Mohan Mittal, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Tota Singh, Surjit Kumar Jyani, Sikander Singh Maluka, Surjit Singh Rakhra and Sharanjit Singh Dhillon. Badal and Sukhbir arrived on time (at 11 am) from two opposite sides and spent a few minutes meeting guests and supporters who were already seated. In the background, Guru Gobind Singh’s “Dey hey Shiva // mohey hai, shubh karman sey kabhi na daroon” clearly conveyed the state government’s positive commitment to take Punjab ahead. The ceremony was started by Punjab Chief Secretary Sabodh Chander Aggarwal. When he declared the ceremony closed, the sky over the venue was filled with fire crackers. The ceremony was attended by various political leaders including former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, convener, NDA, and Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, Gujarat Chief Minister Narender Modi, former BJP chief Rajnath Singh, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, BJP leader Shanta Kumar, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala, Union minister Praful Patel, former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Delhi BJP leader Vijay Goel, Karnataka PWD Minister CM Udasi, AIADMK MPs Thambi Durrai and Dr Maitre, BJP MP Anurag Thakur, Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, former Canadian MP Ruby Dhalla. As Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister took their oath in Punjabi, their family members, including MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal along with her kids, witnessed the ceremony. Bikram Singh Majithia, who was caught in a traffic jam, made it to the venue riding pillion on his PA Kartar Singh’s motorcycle. All new Cabinet ministers made it a point to get the blessings of Parkash Singh Badal after they were sworn in. Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia went to the stage to seek the blessings of Sant Samaj chief Harnam Singh Dhumma and other religious personalities. Baba Dhumma honoured them with siropas (robe of honour).

  18. KopSingh Phaji... Today is Sangrand and the month is Chet. This is the first month in the Sikh Calendar. Vaisakh is the second month. It is quite a big misconcepton that Vaisakhi/Vaisakh is the Sikh new year. Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee and Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Jee both composed Barah Maha (talks of each month) which are in Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. See http://www.sikhiwiki...x.php/Bara_Maha for more info. And MrKhalsa007, Maharaj dee kirpa naal, all is well. We've also had many compliments from Sangat worldwide including Israel, Australia, America, UK etc who say they have in the past struggled to get Sikhi Items and thankful SikhiStore has started to allow them to now get what they need. 19. Yes, RSS and Hindu terrorist groups are employed as toilet cleaners and sweepers at Delhi Airport and have concealed arms specifically to shoot down any Sikh who roars Khalistan Zindabad after landing. They are also provided with scanners to scan the hundreds of people arriving and find out who is wearing what T-shirt.What kind of question is that? Forget about the cops and RSS, you will have a bunch of other Indians slap you around the place till your face turns blue. Be sensible, don't make a mockery of our Shaheeds by choosing to do what you said at a place like Delhi Airport. If you're that passionate, first grow out of your teen years, get a degree, relocate back to Punjab and educate people about Gurmat, make sure they turn into GurSikhs from their present state of patit and nashaee, and THEN maybe your roaring will make sense. Until then, please log on to www.sikhsangat.com and roar as much as you want to. We don't charge, kill, arrest or jail anyone.

  20. There is more to this story than what appears in the headlines. Not too long ago, Bhai Rajoana spoke against Simranjit Singh Mann and asked everyone to vote for Akali Dal Badal in the recent elections. Remember Dhumma was there with Rajoana when he took Khanday-di-Pahul in prison. Dhumma and Badal are now best friends. Don't be surprised by last minute surprises about Bhai Rajoana by the Badal Dhumma lobby. There is more to this than meets the eye. Don't be surprised if nothing happens on March 31st. Sikhs are too gullible these days.

  21. I disagree, I went to school/college/uni with many Ravidassia and often see them around. I asked about this census thing they all supported this and the separate religion while they do not hate Sikhi most see it as a logical progression in their community which one explained to me is to propagate the teachings of Bhagat Ravidass Ji. The change has already started in India and following in Europe and North America. It is all a question of time when it reaches the UK as it has already reached critical mass and the youth are right behind this. I agree however that Sangat TV should not be manipulated by these people, no disrespect but they dont follow rehat maryarda, display khanda as their symbol, use different jakara and greeting/salutation. They pilgrimage to a place in Varansi not Amritsar. I dont think RSS is involved and we must stop saying RSS this and RSS that. We are beging to sound as bad as muslims who think everything is a 'Jewish conspiracy'.

  22. Who was that stupid woman saying it is it is. She then tries to show proof by saying there are references to hindu gods in Sikhi. Yes, there are, but they (the gods) are not exactly being glorified are they, in fact at times the opposite! Nihal says he is just saying what he has been taught by other so called SIkhs. Well, he is being taught now (by you KopSingh and in fact properly) and doesn't want to take what you are saying on board. What a prick! Fools. KopSingh, I wouldn't blame you if you went down the studio and gave him a slap.

  23. I'm 14 years old in my first year of high school and wear a patka, my hair is really long and thick so tying a dastaar takes a long time. I've tried lots of things such as tying my hair around my head, but that makes the top of the dastaar hard to cover. Please post any suggestions and I would also greatly appreciate any Parnaa or small dhamalla tying videos. Thanks.

  24. Teetotalism in the context of Sikh history probably refers to no use of intoxicants/drugs. It is well known the nihungs and other Sikh warrior orders use phaang (cannabis drink) when they go to war as it has proven medicinal qualities and gives the person a higher state of alertness and stamina.

  25. So they don't want British aid, are the politicians willing to dip into the national budget to replace what would have been given to the 500 million poor? How can they do this? We all know money does no filter to the bottom so well over there.

  26. Why worry about others? Especially an oppressed group? This is a sign of insecurity on our behalf. Let the Ravidassias do what they like they are not sikhs so we should not worry about them.

  27. They are not sikh dalbir I had a discussion with some last year, they dont follow rehat maryada, they call bhagat ravidass ji guru instead of bhagat, they have their own sign, salutation, their own place of pilgramage every year they have a train service and millions go to the place of ravidass ji birth. I said how can you take bani out of guru granth sahib and they said only part of bhagat ravidass ji's work is in there and there is much more out there, even so I accepted this and as for the vienna murder the guys claimed they were sikh and sikh dont have caste eitherway they were bankrolled by us so I did not have a leg to stand on but if you ask are they friend or foes .... i dont see any anti sikh in them more so they are concentrating on their own beliefs and as sikhs we should respect this. Its not something new anyway, this whole movement has been going on nearly a century now and it was inevitable this would happen. You got to remember alot of it was due to discrimination but there are way way more chamars in other states who respect bhagat ravidass ji too and they are not sikh and refer to him as guru or sant.

  28. A couple points of concern need to be corrected here. That Manpreet girl was right in what she says but Im a little concerned why you would go into a Ramgharia gurdwara that worships viskarama? Then come on here to complain? Surely it was good enough for you to step foot inside in the first place. Also as you said most tharkhans are against khalistan, so what? They make up part of the community as well and are entitled to their opinion. If it does not fit in with your views dont attack them as im sure there are many others who do not agree with this khalistan nonsense like you do. I mean take a look at punjab now and you find many non-sikhs who would not want the land taken from under their feet. Also lastly what on earth is a Ramgharia Ravidas Gurdwara? Are you not mixing the two? Anyway ravidasi is a different religion to sikh, so what makes you think you can march in giving the shots? Its there religion so leave them to it. you going to march into the Vatican next and start laying down the law? lol

  30. I was contemplating this situation and looked to 2 possible outcomes with reasoning. Capital Punishment will only open the door for sharia law in the UK. It must not happen. Alternatively if it does happen (which I think It wont) then it should only apply to the religions that allow it. So if the offender is muslim then its ok.
