  2. Punjab Govt. can- 1. Declare shiv sena as an outfit threatening peace and harmony in punjab & Ban the outfit them. 2. arrest prominent punjab leaders and instruct PP to beat the <banned word filter activated> out of them for 2-3 days. Sant Samaj/Panthic org/ sikhs worldwide can- 1. discuss True Khalsa in/out of punjab can- 1. release a note with pictures and addresses of all the prominent shiv sena leaders from major cities. 2. send them warning letters that they have been identified and dealt with shortly if they carry on.... 3. set an example by choosing 1-2 shiv sena local leaders and ............discussing this with them.

  3. Gurmukho, I am guessing this same superintendent was charged last week with contempt of court because he refused to execute Bhai Sahib in Patiala jail. So I am not sure if he would lie, although I don't know him personally. Also, both superintendent and advocate are officers of the law, and even though in a place like India where law officers openly lie, I feel this time we should trust the conversation between these 2 Sikhs and hope that this news is true and continues to stay this way.

  4. Take this up with your local media NOW. Write written letters and personally try to get them to media outlets. Respectfully talk in an urgent manner to try to get this issue in the mainstream.

  5. Jaspal Singh, an 18 year old Sikh Boy, was an Engineering Student and was killed by Punjab Police, while he was peacefully protesting against hanging of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana. In a related video on what is going on in Punjab, one can clearly see bunch of Punjab Policemen brutally beating and firing gun shots at unarmed Sikh youth who are running away to save their lives. And what is more appalling is that these Police Officers are themselves turbaned, and so at the least they look Sikh. So that leads me to the question - Why was an 18 year old Sikh Engineering Student shot dead by State Police, while he was clearly unarmed and was peacefully protesting? In an oppressive regime, there are broadly 2 ways in which a minority can survive. For the ease of understanding, let us classify the people belonging to the minority faith into Type 1 and Type 2 people. Type 1 people wake up every morning, and then make an effort to prove their allegiance to the Majority led State Establishment in every possible way. A simple example would be to sit in the middle of your friends, and crack jokes at your community, and show them that even though I am a Sikh and look different, but I am a harmless, spineless creature and hence, you don’t need to fear me. In return, these people are rewarded by the State, sometimes even offered leadership positions in the Government. Case in point is Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has proved that he is the weakest Prime Minister that India has ever had. I can go on and on about Manmohan, but that would be digressing from the point. Type 1 people come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes, these people in their urgent and desperate need to appease the majority would commit the most heinous atrocities on people belonging to their own faith. The name of Prakash Singh Badal, the Punjab Chief Minister immediately comes to my mind. Other names include the so-called Butcher of Punjab, the super cop – KPS Gill and ex-Chief Minister of Punjab Beant Singh. It is not surprising that whenever Badal is in position, even peacefully protesting Sikhs are attacked and murdered ruthlessly in broad day light. This phenomenon is not new. Two Sikh boys were killed on March 29, 2012; however in the past also, 13 peacefully protesting Sikhs were shot dead in 1978, during Badal’s regime. How Badal protected the murderer of 1978 Sikh victims would be a topic of another discussion. One of the video very clearly shows the Punjab Police chasing and attacking peacefully gathered Sikh youth. They are firing as if they are at war, at war with the Civilian Sikhs, who are all hiding and running away for their lives. On their return, these so called police officers are hugged and cheered by the Shiv Sainiks, who are shouting slogans and chanting “Har Har Mahadev”; and hence these Type 1 Sikhs feel comforted by the precious approval of Shiv Sena that they have attained by attacking and firing gun shots at unarmed protestors. For me, the face of Type 2 Sikhs is people like Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, as well as the people who are protesting to show solidarity with him. Such people would rather die than accept an oppressive regime, where the mass-murderers of Sikhs are protected and rewarded, while innocent Sikh civilians are killed in a State Sponsored Genocide. For me, the face of the Type 2 Sikhs is a young boy shown in one of the videos. This boy is clearly unarmed, but he is not even running away or hiding for protection, when the policemen attack him. He is just standing their quietly and taking pride in being beaten brutally by the Police Officers because he does not expect anything else but gross injustice from the Indian Justice System. These Type 2 Sikhs are not irrational or stupid; instead they just want to live with their head held high. They demand justice. They want to see the perpetrators of 1984 genocide convicted and punished. They want to see the people who killed thousands of innocents in Punjab during 1990’s through fake encounters and illegal abductions being punished; and until that happen there cannot be any sustainable peace.

  6. The Sikh nation has no shortage of professors and doctors that love to analyze Sikh philosophy, history, society, politics, etc. They aren't shy about giving their opinion on how Sikhs fit into the world, or their criticism of certain aspects of Sikh and non-Sikh society. Some of their thoughts are quite insightful, while some make you cringe. Many of them are outspoken critics of the Indian government. They have come to defend against the tarnishing Sant ji's name, and many have lead us to introspective discussions to re-discover the beauty of Sikhi. However, where do they disappear to when we need them to lead? Where are they hiding now? The "uneducated" people that they look down upon are the ones marching and dying in the streets. They are the ones who look after the gurdwaras and do seva for the community. The intellectuals will surely give their analysis when the bodies have piled up and the carnage is over, BUT WHERE ARE YOU NOW?

  7. Sikh Channel or Sangat TV may not stay on air! They have to fight the false legal battles the indian govt will inevitably put to them both. However, that will cost money, and because Sikhs are not prepared to pay a £1 a week to they will close! Our Direct Debit money will be needed to fight false legal claims and pressures from the indian government/Shiv Sena/RSS/Chota Sauda/the Gadars amongst us, and all the other Sikhi haters, as well as run the Channels themselves. However, because most Sikhs will not help Sikh Channel or Sangat TV, they will go down - maybe we Sikhs actually want Sikh Channel and Sangat TV to go down, because we don't actually want the Sikhs to have a voice?? (who knows?). Sikh Channel and Sangat TV can bearly pay the running costs, never mind the legal fights that will be coming over the approaching days and weeks - so how can they survive. eg the Sikh Channel and Sangat TV will need money to represent it's arrested reporters. Where will they get their money from for that, when they do not even have the running costs. Can anybody answer why the majortiy of the hundreds of thousands of Sikhs in Britain are not supporting the Sikh Channel and Sangat TV financially at all? Why is it most Sikh are spending money on many other leisure products but not the Sikh Channel or Sangat TV? Why won't we help them?

  8. One trade that the Sikhs do with the Hindus in the cities is the crop selling. A Sikh cannot take his produce to market and sell it, it can only be sold through an "artiya", and this is the law. The artiyas earn commision on the sale. Most of the artiyas are hindus, and minority are Sikhs, but the use of SIkh artityas should be encouraged, and Sikhs shouldnt have any qualms about entering this profession either.

  9. Yeah your right. Badal is only aligned with BJP because they help him fend of the Congress at the polls. He loves his CM seat more than he loves Punjab and the panth.

  11. This is time to stick together. If the Jathedar took a stand on something then we should accept that. The biggest thing we need to be careful of is being divisive. Everyone needs to pull together. Bhai Balwant Singh is trying to unite us not divide us. Lets show him enough respect by listening to him. He has warned us of Akalis not anyone else. We need to ask ourselves what are we doing? Lets be constructive. If you are referring to the Jathedar of our Panth then I think he has made a statement asking for them to all be released.

  12. The team were held for four hours and then released, the Sikh Channel reports. Attempts to intimidate reporters, the Sikh Channel also said that neither of the Badalas had bothered to come to Gurdaspur or see Bhai Jaspal Singhs family.

  16. The bird in the picture is certainly odd looking - not an eagle, definetly a falcon and possibly a young female saker. I have an interest in falconry and myself cannot understand where the idea of Guru's baz being the Gyr falcon came from. I suppose people presume this because they are generally whiter than other raptors and in the West are regarded as falcons used by emperors. However such falcons were not native to that part of Asia - indeed in the Baz Nama Yi Nasiri alludes to this bird being almost mythical in its rarity. In fact there is no great interest in them as far as eastern falconry is concerned. Examples would have had to come from Russia at that time (northwestern modern Russia) and transport over that distance then would have meant a very poor wretched bird if not a dead one, by the end of such a journey. My personal opinion is that Guruji's baz was a Goshawk. In the east this was regarded as the falcon of Kings. It was a seasonal visitor to the north of the subcontinent and flew in from the Atlas mountains. The Tiquin variety is likely to have been Guruji's hawk and was probably given to him by an Afghan Sikh. Its other name is the Kaffuri (not meaning infidel, but meaning pureness/ white). Examples can seem almost albino. Before 1947 the principle falconer's market for the north of the subcontinent was located at Amritsar (it then moved to Lahore where it is today and hence famous names such as Lahore-bells used in modern falconry around the world). The Sikh maharajas of the Punjab such as Patiala were principle patrons of falconry and it was known that Goshawks were purchased from Amritsar for very high prices. The price of a Kaffuri baz/ Tiquin baz was far higher than any other including the shaheen (peregrine) and shughar (saker) which were popular hunting birds amongst the zamindars of pre-independant Punjab.
