  1. This Singh is killing it out here in Canada. He is not just one of those politicians who takes a seat as a minister in the federal government and then votes against South Asians rights for an apology from Canada (one of the saddest days in Canada.....seeing a Sikh with Dastar and flowing beard........stand up from his seat to vote against an apology for South Asians). Jagmeet Singh does not just define himself by wearing a blue Dastar and having a flowing beard. His lion appearance matches his actions. This is a lion roaring, without fear and without hatred. A very respected, accomplished, and educated Singh that is showing the youth of today that a lot can be accomplished without lifting the sword. Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj teachings are being put into practice in Canadian government offices because we have a Singh who is not scared to speak the truth to power and authority.

  2. From Panthic/Ishat point of view- Kabir maharaj is bhagat ji as there is only one satguru in Sikh Panth which is satguru nanak dev ji in its all eleven forms. However, from adhyatam and gurmat advait point of view- kabir ji fully merged with nirankar/satguru/vahiguroo (whatever you want to call it) and became vahiguroo roop. Kabir maharaj was nirgun upasakh and bhramgyani, he only beleived in kaival mukhti and lost its wajood in parbhram vahiguroo rather than groups who beleive in(4 or 5 different type mukhti). So it will be not only unfair but also contary to Gurmat to bind bhramgyani who have merged with nirankar and left its chola, bind him with even notion of dvait(duality) by suggesting its blampheous to call bhramgyani vahiguroo/nirankar/satguru. Bhramgyani aap nirankar || As i said earlier, from panthic/ishat point of views we must keep sancity around label of satguru with no exceptions to uphold Sikh Gurmat Sidhant but at the back of head also maintain advait(non duality) when it comes to bhramgyani especially bhagats in sri guru granth sahib ji.

  3. One day, Sodhi Harbhajan Singh jee (writer of famous book Bhajan Bandagi Da Pratap) was standing in a shop in Jabalpur that an English couple walked in and said fateh to him loudly. Harbhajan Singh was surprised to hear fateh from the English couple. Sodhi Harbhajan Singh jee started talking to them and asked them how come they know so much about Sikhism. Upon this the English gentleman told him his story as follows: """"I was a police captain in 1924 when the Akalis launched Bhai Pheru morcha in Lahore city of Punjab (now in Pakistan). I got special orders from the Inspector General of Police to crush the Sikhs. I told him that I could do so only if I was to be given the police party of my choice. At this he agreed and I hand picked the most ruthless and strong young men from backgrounds such as Lyalpuri Jaanglis and Jhelami Jaats. I took my police party to Gurdwara Bhai Pheru and surrounded the disputed place with wire and had my police party stationed there. The first Jatha started marching from Amritsar and slowly reached Gurdwara Bhai Pheru after doing prachaar (preaching) in several villages on their way. On the day of the arrival of the Jatha at Gurdwara Bhai Pheru I asked my toughest Thanedaar (Police Officer) to get me the list of all the members of Jatha along with their father's name and home address. That afternoon I got surprised when I saw the list. All Jatha members had listed Guru Gobind Singh as their father. I got really mad when I saw the list and swore at the Thanedaar for failing to get even the name of their father. The thanedaar replied that he tried his best but no one in the Jatha gave any other name for their father but Guru Gobind Singh. My wife who was sitting beside me mocked me by saying that if I can't even get their father's name how the hell am I going to crush them. At this I vowed that I will eat my breakfast the next day, only after getting their father's name from them. Next day I chose 50 stern and strong-hearted policemen and asked them to pick 25 old and weak members of the Jatha. I then ordered that let two policemen hold one Sikh and use whatever means to make them spit out their father's name. I further said that whoever does it first would get a gold medal and special recognition from the government. Hearing my order, the policemen started beating the Jatha members savagely till they got unconscious. Then they would bring them back to senses and beat them again. But none of them told their worldly father's name. All they would say was Guru Gobind Singh and Vaheguru. When they failed to get any results I asked the police officers to remove their belts and get the hell out of there. By that time it was 10am and I was feeling really hungry. I chose another 50 policemen and asked them to do the same thing. I asked them to use very severe measures to torture the Jatha members to break their resolve of not telling the name of their worldly father. I knew that if they admit defeat and spit out their father’s name, then they would also accept the defeat of their agitation. A lot was at stake. I put their hands upside down under the Charpai (indian beds) and made the police officers jump on the beds. The Sikhs were in great pain but they did not yield. I even made my policemen hammer nails in their buttocks but still we were unable to break their resolve. By 6pm I was badly tired and was extremely hungry. I lost all my pride and ego and felt totally helpless in front of those non-violent lions. I picked up the phone and dialed to the IG of police and resigned. The next day I took train to Bombay and went to England. I wrote it down on the resignation letter that no one should mess with the Sikhs."""""

  5. As always, Good post Veer Jee. While you are right that when one goes deeper since Brahmgiani is Vaheguru then they are one and same. But when Guru jee included their Bani in the Aad Bir, the Gurus did not refer to the Bhagats as Satguru. They were still called Bhagats, and that is the status they hold in the Sikh Panth. The Bhagats hold a very high status within the Panth. Their Banis, Sakhis are done veechar of by Sikhs. Even many Sikhs go on a pilgrimage to places associated with the Bhagats all over India. Since they hold such a high status for the Sikhs, I don't understand why they should be renamed as Guru or Satguru as if we are giving them a promotion. Today in India millions of people follow the Path of the Bhagats. SGPC, Sant Samaj, Jathabandis all need to make a coordinated effort and do Parchar to these distant cousins of ours.

  7. yeh again not heard about the two dastaar thing by Guru Hargobind Sahib ji bro. Where did you hear/read that? When you say old singhs wouldnt wear a dastaar that would come off easily, are you referring to pre- Maharajah Ranjit Singh time or Maharajah Ranjit Singh's time? Some of the photos of Singhs I sent in the link are in the time period less than 10 years after the anglo-sikh wars so I would be surprised if dastaar styles had changed much since then.

  11. waheguru ji...this is correct....jina mil jaye..ona hi laina chahida....coz if a person wants to get rid of a dukh and brings in dehg and do ardas....and then that degh gets distributed among sangat.,.....along with the degh the "dukh" of the ardas doer gets distributed among sangat as well.....and this small amount of dukh distributed is easily confronted by the members of sangat (guru di kirpa hundi hai parshaad te)...instead of large amounut of dukh faced by one single person.......

  13. I agree with most of your post jonny veer. Whilst we should definitely reach out to our cousins, appreciate them and make more bridge to them but i am not too sure about parchar to kabir panthis as they very much on kabir panthi path (advait nirgunvadd pretty similiar to gurmat advait) as they believe in teaching of pooran bhramgyani - bhagat kabir ji. I can understand where you coming from missionary point of view but when you look at spiritual angle- its probably not needed as real unity is in diversity in Gurmat...i mean there are other alternatives - instead of spending resources on missionary work or unintentionally coming across an supremacist/elitist infront of kabir panthis by expecting them to change.. may be we can redefine singh sabha definition of Sikh...this is where puratan samparda's and singh sabha mindset clash on paths...i am sure one day they can work out underlining issues in the panth. I will end my post with sant jagjit singh ji harkhowal audio on gurmat is anadi. Gurmat is anadi.mp3

  15. Khalsa Ji SGGS Ji says that Guru Nanak Ji are Naryan , I.e. the full embodiment of Waheguru. Bhagats become Waheguru roop through Bhagti , they are not born as " Aap Naryan ". The Avasta of Satguru is supreme.

  16. Bhagat Kabir Ji Maharaj can never be refered to as Satguru...............just like how a Sant can't be refered to as Satguru. Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vaars were to be put in Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj, so do we call Bhai Sahib, as Satguru as well???? No! Never because Satguru is title given only to the 11 Gurus. Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj also corrected Bhagat Kabir Ji Maharaj where he was wrong. Satguru is never wrong...........this is one difference that clearly shows the difference. Bhatt Bani is also in Satguru, so do we refer to them as Satguru???? Bhagat Kabir Ji Maharaj became one with Akal Purakh, but Satguru never called Bhagat ji, Satguru. They are still Bhagats, just like how Sants who are jivan mukht are still Sants.

  17. @ UKLondonSikh - We don't have to start referring to our bhagats as 'Guru' - or vice versa - in order to change our dynamics with our "cousin communities" as you call them. To suggest that by not changing these labels plays into the hands of anti-Sikh sources is a connection I fail to fathom, however I do feel you are making these statements with tongue firmly in cheek.

  22. Another possible tip that I've been trying recently is training like an hour or 1 hour 20 minutes after eating. i know we grow up being told not to train after eating but I think this is a mistaken concept. When you do this, the nutrients of the food you have consumed gets utilised and less of it has the chance to turn into churbi (fat). Here is an interesting BBC article touching on it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6712923.stm

  23. Most of my relatives in Punjab have not just single degrees, but what they call double and triple degrees, i.e they did a degree...couldn't find a job and so did another degree etc. Top of my head....I honestly can't name a single relative of mine that has ever managed to find a job in Punjab. The rural Sikh, no matter how highly educated he or she is, has more chance of hitting the jackpot in the national lottery than landing a job in Punjab. They can't get a job in the private sector because the urban classes that control industry restrict the jobs to their own kind. They can't get a job in the public sector because those jobs are reserved thru quotas for the 'backward classes'. The main blame for Punjab's woes lies with the dirty Badal family, but the central government in Delhi shares the blame. Just to give one example of how the centre deliberately keeps Punjab down, lets look at the issue of aviation. In every other state in India, the central government in Delhi, have been giving financial incentives and help in establishing and building regional airports with global links to improve business infrastructure. The only exception to this official Indian policy is Punjab. Every major international airline that has pulled the plug on its Amritsar service in the last decade has said the reason was because the Indian government were deliberately discouraging them from flying to Punjab by making it too expensive to do so. This is in stark contrast to what is happening in other states such as Gujarat where Airlines have been encouraged to fly there with financial sweetners and incentives so that Gujarat businesses can improve their global reach. Punjab, has the soil and climate for some of the world's most valuable commodities at the moment. Rape seed is at an all time high.....flowers yield high profits....chillis and other organic products would give high profits. But for this to be the case the indian government know those agricultarists in Punjab need good international links from Punjab . Instead, the govt mandis instruct the farmers to grow crops such as rice that need 20 or 30 times more water than other crops. Thats total madness in a state where the water table is dangerously low. But everything is designed to make it hard for the farmer to not only make his own contracts with the international community but be able to deliver on those contracts. I'll tell you right now, my family have tried several times to diversify into the flower market. I even have, in the past, had meetings with major buyers from UK supermarkets. If i was a gujarati farmer in gujarat it would be happy days right now. Within hours my fresh flowers would be on a plane and within a few more hours on the shelves in wall mart. As a Punjabi farmer though, my flowers would be rotten and dead by the time they reached a western supermarket several days later. Punjab is failing because Punjab is an enslaved state of a hostile dirty foreign power : The Indians.

  24. Personally I think the major change that is needed is 'cultural'. By this I mean existing attitudes towards education must change, currently apnay only value education as some sort of vehicle for potential economic uplift. This has to change and education must be seen and encouraged as a means for a personal development and growth as much as financial progress. I've seen very discouraging attitudes towards towards education from apnay, especially pendus. It is telling that frequently relatively wealthy pendu families often have sons who are completely indifferent to education, and then they manage to come to the west they can only work as semi-skilled labourers - if they are lucky. What is unusual about this is that in most societies the attitude towards and achievements in education are usually higher amongst the more affluent than the poor as a rule. Note the difference in working class and middle class attitudes and achievements of the British in this respect. In our society however, we don't seem to have this and I have often met sons of relatively wealthy farming families working on building sites as labourers or driving trucks and other totally unskilled work like that. When you talk to them, they are all indifferent to education. That indifference to education needs to change, especially from those who could afford to actually pay for their children's education. Instead these people spend fortunes on getting their children to the west through dubious means, often taking out big loans - only for their children to do the types of jobs unparh people would do. Instead they should spend their money and time on encouraging and investing in their children's education - in private institutes if need be, seeing as the state facilities are rubbish. That way these people can get out aboard and do more than menial work. Attitudes towards reading and writing by the bulk of Sikhs must drastically change also. Here in the west reading for pleasure is a norm for a large proportion of people (baring chav types). You see this when you are out and about, people are reading papers, books in parks, trains, buses etc. Generally, levels of literacy are high. It is rare to come across someone who is completely illiterate, even if we do have lower levels of literacy in certain lower socio-economic groups - in the Panjab however you can meet hordes of people who can't read and have no interest in the contents of books. The worse thing is when you get ignoramuses misquoting Baba Nanak in a way to suggest that books are useless........ Apnay don't seem to recognise the general value of creativity in all spheres of life, be this industry or arts - very little thinking outside the box takes place unless they are thinking up scams. This seriously effects the economy. Consider how someone who can creatively write in English can theoretically pen a best seller, and earn a fortune, whilst a theoretically brilliant, creative Panjabi writer has no or little chance to do achieve something similar in Panjabi. We should consider using our creativity to produce things that we can sell to the world - not just to ourselves. The current agricultural economy is a potential road to ruin given the abuse of pesticides/fertilizer by farmers, water allocation and especially natural climate change. If the weather significantly changes and there is less water in future due to climate change (not an unlikely scenario), farming Panjabis may be suddenly plunged into serious dire straights as the land becomes an arid desert. Then our state's economy will totally collapse and we may even reach famine proportions, with images of hordes of half naked, emaciated apnay being beamed all over the media. As for increasing service based industries, I don't think our people are particularly suited to this as they often don't how how to act and present themselves. I would say they would be better off with manufacture and crafts. I said it before, I believe the potential for Panjab is massive but it is locked away by small mindedness. Petty jealousy of other's success, and subterfuge creates an environment that is not conducive to development. We need to follow the 'American dream' model where opportunities are open to all and success is encouraged and applauded and not scuppered or looked upon resentfully. The truth is that we are usually our own enemies when it comes to progress. The deeply ingrained, underlying cultural/psychological factors that make this true are what needs to be overcome to unlock our full potential.

  25. Blaming it all on the government is lame and totally disempowers us from making change for the better. Panjabis themselves have as much a hand in this situation as anyone else. Apnay drink like fish outside of Panjab, so blaming the government for this habit is a cop out. Apnay aren't showing ANY creativity in terms of diversifying the economy of the state and don't even seem to know how to use fertilizer and pesticides properly - over using them. The state education system is a joke and besides many apnay seem to have an apathy to higher/further education in any case. As for drugs, let be honest, a lot of that comes from over the border. The smack anyway. Plus if there were ever a people ready and willing to get intoxicated, you'd find them amongst ours. The Panjab government is dominated by Sikhs, so if it is corrupt etc. our own people are a big part of the cause. Like our lot don't blow big money on needless ostentation, like weddings. It is sad that a state with some of the hardest working people IN THE WORLD NO LESS!, and advantage in terms of foreign money that gets pumped into it from diaspora Panjabis as well as the absolute fortune accumulated in Gurdwara donations - simply can't get its act together. This weak culture of blaming all of our woes on outsiders - a constant victim mentality that too many Sikhs exhibit sucks! The potential is more than there, what is needed is creativity.
