Exactly. When I first heard the news of a shooting in a Sikh temple, my first thought was that it was between committee memebers or something. The fact that I even thought of that just shows how out of hand everything has become. As another note, I know this is early to say, and some may say it is insensitive, but Guruji told us everything for a reason, and that includes us arming ourselves. We are forgetting everything guruji has told us Also, thank god for the police officer who took him down. He is expected to survive, and I really hope the gurdwara will present him with a siropa when he is recovered

How did this person know about the shooting before it happened (video was uploaded on 7th July)? People are saying he changed the title of the video but if you look on his youtube channel, his latest activity was yesterday (4th August, which was before the shooting)? Waheguru, It really saddens me when I hear that our community is still being prosecuted. I think its time we stopped fighting amongst ourselves and became a kaum of shers for real as we are no longer that. We need to come up with solutions as it seems we dont learn any lessons from such events and talk about them for a while and then forget until the next one comes along.

My prayers are totally with the 6 innocent poeple whose lives were taken by the derranged gun man or derranged gun men. My prayers are also with those innocent people who were injured. We don't know if the wicked gun man/gun men thought they were muslim or not. However, I can't help feeling that if we had done more to let the rest of the world know who we are as a religion (and yes we are a totally separate religion from the Hindu and Muslim religion) some Sikhs would still be alive today. I am not just talking about today but from 9/11. Following this incident the western world is going to want to know about Sikhi. So we either remain silent and let confusion rule or we take this opportunity to tell people what our religion is about and stop the further deaths of innocent Sikhs occuring through mistaken identity. It's up to us. If we had made better efforts from 9/11 onwards, maybe, just maybe, those people who went to remember Vaheguru today, may still be alive!! I repeat, I appreciate that this gunmen may not have done this evil act because he thought they were muslims. However, I still hurts to know that Sikhs all around the world still get victimised due to being mistaken for a Muslim!

I agree with this topic than parents need to do alot more. As for myself, am 17 and punjabi is a must in our house, parents have done their bit by giving me the Sikhi Knowledge and I went to Punjabi School, did it fully up to A Level. I can only thank Vaheguru Jee that my Sikhi, Heritage and Punjabi is there.

I agree with RebelSingh ji. I think parchaar needs to be done in English. Maybe have programs on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be in English and Sunday can be in Punjabi. Sikhi needs to be explained in a way that these kids can apply to their lives. Show them that Sikhi has the answer to their problems and they can benefit as a person if they apply Sikhi. Don't criticize them. When I had cut hair, the last thing I wanted was some bloke running after me telling me that I should be ashamed of myself, blah, blah, blah. Many Sikhs stop coming to gurdwara for this reason. They don't want to have to suffer the holier-than-thou naggers. Instead, be a good example and you will see that people will try and emulate you. Yogi Bhajan had a katha where he told his students to "Be the Lighthouse" that the ships look towards during the storm. It's about time that we have granthis who are born and raised in the UK, US and Canada. I feel these people will best be able to relate to today's youth. I recommend that these people be young gursikh professionals, and that we should allow them to run the Saturday English program. They should be role models that the kids will want to emulate. My two cents.

Things that affect the development of the baby in the womb are called teratogens. They could be drugs / medications or genetic occurrences. They could even be viral infections or pre-existing conditions of the mother (like diabetes). Malnutrition of the mother can play a part. The baby could also get wrapped up in its own umbilical cord and have problems because of that. It could be a failure on the doctor's part because he/she is supposed to monitor these things. Babies that are born disabled have a medical reason why they are born that way. It has nothing to do with their karma. People do develop disabilities later in life as well, but I don't think it's because they deserved it for their karam. That usually has a medical reason behind it as well. Maybe God sends these people to show us what real strength and courage is. Maybe it's to make us appreciate the things we take for granted and to stop us from complaining about our comparatively insignificant problems. God bless.

However consider this as good execrise for those who want to learn how to debunk these nastiks theories. uklondonsikh refuses to put up Dasam Bani because he knows in a split second the Bani can be explained and Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj shabad can be presented to show clear agreement on Dasam Bani Shabad. We have nothing to hide, like these nastiks do (asked him to present Dasam Bani shabads that don't algin with Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj and hes running the 8 mile). Dasam Bani is there for everyone to listen to and read. Even if one Sikh in the world learns how to debunk these nastiks bullets with no fire power, then we have gained and they have lost yet again in the same debate. uklondonsikh is trying to play a chess match with checker pieces. The more these nastiks are exposed with contentment, hulimity, and contemplation, where we stand on Truth. Simply Vahiguroo or Ikongkar or shalok/mool mantar also should be good. But i think depending on each individual surti anything reciting from gurbani is good before eating the meal...but what matter is your mind when you recite from gurbani not which part of gurbani you recite..again what mater is your mind engaging in gurbani not when/what you recite in gurbani..gurbani is agam agad bodh, as bhai kulbir singh ji would say and once we start looking at the technicalities within gurbani as opposed to state of your mind ...we already lost the plot in sikhi as we are falling into same karam kaand many hindu pandits did which were condemned in Gursikhi !!! and No i m not talking about nitneem banis which has very important historical significance, but specially talking about this topic.!
