  2. Are the 60% who are Sikhs sitting in underground spaces, meditating on the Lord's name having relinquished all human ties? Give me a break.

  4. I find it quite disturbing to read that Sikhs are "brought up" to hate Muslims and Hindus. News to me. I wasn't raised that way. My mistrust and aversion for Islam comes from history, but to suggest I go around snarling at Muslims (or Hindus for the actions of their co-religionists) is a bit much. Wariness and keeping one's counsel when it comes to the people of these two faiths is wise, but outright and unjustifiable hostility - particularly raising children to blindly hate - is wrong.

  5. What the Sakhis is that, Guru jee said there are crores of worlds like this earth. The people did not believe this. So Guru jee said he will take the son of the person who questioned him to prove this. Guru jee placed his hands on the boy's head and it is said by Bhai Gurdas jee that within the time it takes to blink an eye Guru jee had shown the boy many hundreds of worlds like this earth. Guru ji is beyond time and space. And to prove that the boy had gone to all of these places he(the boy) also brought Karha Parshad in a bowl from a sangat they visited on another planet. Kathakars also narrate this sakhi like this. This sakhi proves two important points. There are many worlds like our earth in this universe. And second, Sikhi is truly is universal religion that is it also present in those worlds like it is here.

  6. If you play your cards right, one lifetime as a Sikh should be enough. If, however, this is your second, third, etc, then you're obviously doing something wrong. Who knows how many times you've been born in a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Atheist... household, and you've extolled the virtues of those faiths and paths with the same passion and veracity you're promoting Sikhi on this particular occasion.

  7. Hee hee, I had posted something, that I ended up feeling was superfluous and I removed it and put the word superfluous in its place. Sorry about the confusion, I wasn't saying your post was superfluous. lol I think there may have been a good few songs songs like the one you mentioned. Usually talking about some jatt with a bandook on his shoulder. It sort of glamorises that whole thing: Example -

  8. Not few but many. This earth is just one of many karam-bhoomis as mentioned in Japji Sahib. In our traditions it is said that there is a Shaheed Khalsa Fauj of 96 crore. But we know that in this matlok there have been Lakhs of Sikh Shaheeds not crores. Then it is likely that Sikh Shaheeds from all over this universe is what form the 96 crores of Shaheed Khalsa Fauj. Furthermore we know from Gurbani that this universe has been created and destroyed countless times. Sikhi is much more advanced than the 3 Semitic middle eastern religions who have no knowledge of these matters. What to talk of other worlds and life forms all over the universe they still think the sun revolves around the earth!

  9. Sri guru gobind Singh sahib ji finalized an identity which was to make Sikhs stand out. Guru sahib proudly told Sikhs to claim to be Sikhs. Nothing wrong with saying we are Sikhs. Especially today when many confuse us with Muslims and some areas as hindus. More awareness campaigns need to be done.

  10. I agree but I don't think living with self respect, as a self-respecting community is mutually exclusive with living with a primary focus on Waheguru. If anything, I think that is one of main reasons Guru Gobind Singh ji was sent to us - to demonstrate this very thing and teach us through example. And it's not about bragging rights, it's about living like honorable men and women who aren't victims at the hands of others.

  12. What is needed is greater awarness of the Anglo Sikh wars both in the British and Sikhs. They are the only wars in which a non European army defeats the British in some major battles. Nobody else in Asia or Africa used cavalry , artillery and infantry in a modern warfare way. https://www.allaboutsikhs.com/historical-events/the-first-anglo-sikh-warbattle-of-ferozeshah https://www.allaboutsikhs.com/historical-events/second-anglo-sikh-war-chillianwala

  13. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/convenience-store-robbery-deaths-edmonton-1.3371247 It's a very sad day in Edmonton. 2 people got shot in two Mac Stores. One of the Mac Stores was in my area and my father used go there for shopping. They got all of the suspects, but it's a tragedy. Why did they have to kill them? I hope they will rest in peace.

  16. They shouldn't have been on the list. I remember when it first came out in reaction to 9/11. I think they wanted to stick a few nonMuslim organisations in just to not look anti-Islamic.

  17. i dont kno bro, i reckon its more "hatred" towards paks, rather than muslims in general. U ever meet turks, banglas, arabs or iranians? Theyre all really nice ppl i reckon.

  18. The point is when men's fashion bibles likes GQ and other style experts / writers decree in 2019/20 (for argument's sake) that beards are no longer en vogue for males, the Sikh kid - who's gained confidence and belief from these western celebrities who've been sporting facial hair in magazines, on blogs, and on TV - will be alarmed when he notices these same figures have shaved their beards and cut their hair, and that particular Sikh kid who's been lead to believe that keeping a beard is cool, because famous westerners are doing so, is up the creek without a paddle. By then one would hope he's progressed in his Sikhi to the extent that he doesn't need to rely on non-Sikhs with beards to give him confidence in his choices, but that's not a guarantee. White westerners with beards - and let's make no bones about it, it's a particularly small minority of middle class white westerners working in the media / fashion industries, as well those with counter-culture bohemian tendencies - are following a fad that's surviving on borrowed time. A Sikh does not have the choice to lop off his kesh when the fashion and style magazines decree the time period for a particular trend has reached its end, because for the Sikh his saroop isn't transitory unlike modern fashion trends. Also, on the whole, those fashion rules seldom apply to the dark-skinned, slightly shy, podgy, working class Sikh kid with poor bone structure, attending a comprehensive in Bristol or Bradford. Yes, for the moment, beards are "in", but for how long?

  19. It's cool as long as you're white... and the hair on the head is styled and coiffed to within an inch of its life. Otherwise - particularly if you're of the brown persuasion and the head is covered by a turban - it's business as usual. There's the odd exception (before anyone posts a picture of the Singh who has models hanging off his arms), but that's fantasy and not applicable to 99.9% of Sikhs on the ground. No, I'm afraid if one wishes to keep an uncut beard as part of their Sikhi, you do it because you'd like to make a commitment to Guru Sahib. Fashions come and go with the seasons; the things that truly matter don't. In this particular instance, the youngster wasn't mentally and emotionally developed enough to be trusted to make the decision to take Amrit. He was strong armed into by over-zealous camp organisers. I'm not sure how to react to that tbh: one side of me thinks its damaging to one's spiritual development, and it will most likely lead to the individual resenting his Gursikhi as a curse or a burden that he can't escape. But then the other side of me considers how certain other faiths employ similar tactics to increase their numbers, and at this moment in time we do require an increase in numbers. It's a conundrum, that's for sure.

  20. See from my experiences over a few decades now, what happens is that we (Sikhs) end up fighting everyone at some point. Here is the thing: we end up fighting with others on the same side (temporarily) and today's friends is tomorrows enemies and vice versa. If we get this and not crawl up anyone's ar5e, we'll be better off. We got here, had to fight white pr1cks, then tuvay got jumped up around then (not least because they were taking their cues from goray). During these kicks offs we actually fought with paks on the same side. Fast forward a few years, and here we are fighting with the very same paks over grooming conversions, and the same honkys who hated us now (for their own agenda) bend over backwards to try and sweeten us up. Then hammer, look at those black kick offs in your town a few years ago! Did you not see our lot temporarily liaising with paks to combat that? Do you get where I am going with this? Ultimately, we don't know who we are going to end up kicking off with. The real problem is the proliferation of pu55y ar5sed cowardice amongst Singhs and Singhnis. If our lot banged heads more often when they got messed with, people would soon learn to leave Sikhs the eff alone. Maybe the first and most important fight we have to have is with those soft as sh1te pu55ys in our own community? And Hammer, this doesn't necessarily mean 'liberals'' as you put it. Half these people giving it large on the Internet about Khalistan/India and sullay and whatnot are some closeted, scared giddarhs living in the lap of luxury in some leafy suburb. It's different when you're a bloke - things are infinitely more likely to get physical. A put down is often just the start of things.

  21. Hunger strikes are a waste of time, they don't work. Khalsa are tyar bar tyar, akal purakh di fauj, they dont go on hunger strikes and beg governments to help them. How many times have we seen this now ? with Bhai Gurbaksh Singh twice. Now Bapu Surat Singh. What results have been achieved ? How many prisoners have been released ?
