  1. I was born and grew up in a city life. Spent only summers with my nanakay or dadkay in pinds. I spent one year in rural punjab boarding school (it was mistake but i never regret it now). I rather choose to live with rural folks instead with uptight urban sikhs. I see both sides and i see urban sikhs leading false life with censored media etc. Reality of pendu sikh life is hidden from them for a very long time. They think they are serving sikh panth with all these glittery gala events and award ceremonies. Take an example of Sarbat Khalsa- My parents went to sarbat khalsa in Punjab. They told me their experience that it was all 99.99% rural/pendu folks and they were mad that how city folks didn't take interest in it. History shows that rural sikhs like sant bhinderwale are the only ones who raise their voice and then get beaten by the system that urban folks usually supports. Its not caste system anymore in our panth. Its now all about CLASS SYSTEM

  2. Do you live in the Punjab? Some urban Punjabis have a reputation for directing their sneering contempt at those of us with rural backgrounds. I'm also surprised that you've encountered so many amritdharis among them - In my experience, many of them are full of self-loathing, the first to shun all trappings of their faith and Punjabiyaat in order to ingratiate themselves into the wider Indian Hindi-speaking mainstream. No, they are not right. Just ignore them brother. Who cares what they think of you? It is only for Guru Sahib to say whether your faith in them is genuine. I myself used to be a mona and was confronted with this sort of nonsense by other Sikhs. I told them that whereas they had been born into Gursikh households and had Sikhi handed to them on a platter, I had to struggle against the wishes and expectations of my family and those closest to me to find it, to fight against all their bullying and their blackmail. I told them I had to fight for my Sikhi, make sacrifices for it. That would promptly shut them up. Try it for yourself.

  3. If a male marries female younger than him by age of 3 to 5 years then its ok for society. I however don't see any difference why female older than male can't do the same. The only reason why seniors in some family hesitate to say yes when they hear rishta involving older age bibi is only because of their mind thinking about fertility. Thats total another issue that both young folks and older folks are wrong about it. However, in your case there should be no problem regarding age. Age won't matter if both of your thinking matches. Of course, when both of you are hitting 30's then you must think about having new family members. If you want to enjoy 'alone' married couple life then you should have married in early 20's. - i speak from my experience.

  4. Look, I am just saying that people use religon for their advtange and use it for bad things. Then they get away and people will blame on religon. Like the Abortion shooting Colorado, they blamed it on Christaitinity for the shootings, however the shooter was some wacko, who was told by God. In wars some people do it cause they said it from God. Come on, are people that stupid to believe that guy. Pretty much, people use God for bad things.

  5. yes punjabi urban sikhs who are generally called bhappaas but I dont use that word as I feel its offensive. I have met couple of very nice urban sikhs with great gursikhi jeevan but met many others who treat me badly.

  6. If you were accepted as Guru ji's own son , why are you so worried about sheeple bheki Amritdhari folks in the towns? Not everyone in towns are like that, but unfortunately the unpard pardeylikhey are increasing in our midst. They know so little about the true itihaas of SIkhi and yet will have an an unwanted opinion on everyone else, their behaviour is running parallel to other judgemental faiths like HIndu Brahmanism, Christianity, Islam...if you don't do/think as we do, you are wrong from head to toe... When a sikh should follow Guru ji's updesh no one else's. Guru ji says again and again we make mistakes but we still strive and this I feel the rurals have taken into their hearts, they are still listening to bani and trying to do vichar, even if they haven't reached where they want to go, they appreciate your struggle and your blessings . They feel you are lucky to have Guru ji's hath on your head and they are right. The 'urbans' think probably that they achieved amrit on their part and have less awareness and appreciation of kirpa, being amritdhari is not the end goal but for most of these types they act as if it is , a badge of their supreme Sikhness . Just like a marriage , the wedding day isn't the end goal but the start of a new chapter of being , these guys have forgotten a successful marriage is a daily effort to live well in companionship and fufilling duties to each other, showing love and respect, appreciating and supporting your partner, thinking of them when making decisions, engaging in communication in good times and bad. They are still traipsing around in their wedding day clothes, not engaged in married life , progressing onto further things like getting on with careers, building homes, futures, families but thinking they are just as validly married as everyone else so they are entitled to spout off on other's lifestyles. looking like an amritdhari is not the same as 'being' an amritdhari , everyday you rebuild the amrit inside with gurbani and it's vicharna and you count yourself lucky that this time, after so many millions of years you are finally making progress again towards the end goal .

  7. True most warfare has occurred for atheist reasons i.e. over geopolitical issues just look at USA three hundred odd years of history wars for over two hundred and twenty years, UK most of its wars for the same ...Now look at so-called religious wars , it is really empire-building too, grabbing land and subjugating people under the 'approved' faith. This is not new the roman catholic church is just the roman empire which has changed clothes to suit .The ottoman, the Timur, The mughal empire all forged for grabbing of power first then holding it by converting the people from 'them' to 'us' . This is not reflective of true Love of Akal Purakh- Akal Purakh gives without judgement even to atheists who deny Him, such is his mercy and compassion, He never tires of giving ... True Dharmic people of whatever faith should reflect Akal Purakh's gun increasingly as they progress so they would have zero need to conquer , to criticise as they would know it is bhanna , what is meant to be , will be ...they will share gian just by living their faith and speaking of Akal Purakh without harshness of thought , action or speech. Even in the midst of battle do you really believe hate and anger (the path for ahankar) came into Akal Purakh ki fauj? No they had naam on their lips and they became the sword arm of Justice ...when the armies fell at their feet they became brothers again and helped the wounded ... this is a reflection of Akal roop , existence in unconditional love and truth...we all are one, The One.

  9. Ok I am not sikh because : 1. I believe that Akal Purakh created ALL from itself 2. I believe Akal Purakh put everyone on their paths according to karam and bhagti 3. I believe there have been bhagats and saints in other traditions because of Kirpa 4. I believe in SIkhi but I do not have a need to denigrate others to follow Guru ji 5. I pray for sarbat da bhalla but also I act on it by helping others not expecting them to return the favour , it is nice to experience the recipriocity though 6. I believe Dasmesh Pita ji's words and I feel the same 'tum ko tumara khoob, hum ko humara khoob' 7. I believe that Guru Nanak Dev ji just speaks about the truth of the hypocrisy of individuals and the futility of rituals without the sharda or bhagti from the heart ..not laughing at people (that is mocking ) 8. I believe that their are sehajdhari sikhs who are in other faiths but also take Guru ji's sharan by your words they are foolish too just because they are in those faiths but if the pandits are true as Guru ji tells hows to be , muslim is true as Guru ji tells them to be why wouldn't there be kalyan? 9. I respect Guru ji's faisla and Akal Purakh's judgement I know I am not a sikh ...I am a human hoping to become a true gursikh inside and out...sorry if you mistake humility in refraining from criticism of others for tacit approval of adharmic soch/behaviour . My Father taught everyone to love Akal Purakh's name and it didn't matter who it was , including my christian friend and she too japs nam just like me isn't that love ? He didn't criticise or mock he just told her that japping nam would help her in her life ..

  10. Once Punjabi ladies have had their way with Saag, it's safe to say all nutritional value is close to zero. Sure, it tastes great, but once it's been boiled and then sautéed to death, it's not going to be very healthy. Your semi-skimmed milk and dairy, plus other natural or raw sources of protein is right.

  12. There was Charan Amrit from the Guru Sahibs. The concept of Amrit was always there. The Story you're referring to is a bit mixed up my friend. Guru Gobind Singh Ji was approached by a Pandit who said he could summon Durga for Guru Sahib to grant him victory in all Battles. Guru Sahib replied that The Ultimate Power (Akaal Purkh Ji) was already someone he bowed to for Victory and no one else. The Pandit insisted to do this Pooja so Guru Sahib let him conduct his ritual/Pooja. Guru Sahib provided the Pandit with everything he needed for it, After many days Guru Sahib inquired why the Goddess still hadn't appeared. The Pandit thought he'd be smart and try a clever trick. He said that to summon the Goddess they had to sacrifice one of high birth, he was going to ask for one of the Sahibzade. Guru Sahib Ji simply smiled and said there was no one of higher birth than the Pandit, so let's sacrifice the Pandit. Hearing these words the Pandit became distressed and Objected. but Guru Sahib assured him that once the Goddess appeared he'd simply ask her to bring him back to life. The Pandit then started fearing for his life and fled. He told Guru Sahib that he was going for a bath and then left. Guru Sahib (being all knowing) let him flee and had his Sikhs put all the other items and other stuff (the ghee and you know other ritual related stuff) thrown into the Fire that was lit (as per tradition of all Hindu Pooja). The flames produced were so big and it created such a massive spectacle People thought the Devi had come. Guru Sahib descended down onto the gathering masses (this was all taking place on a hill I should probably mention) and had his Sword out. He proclaimed to people that the Sword before him was Durga who obliterated Tyrants, Chandi who drank the blood of her enemies, the destroyer of all Evil. No Devi did appear, It was Guru Sahib once again showing us that sitting around and begging for other forces to assist us is pointless. We should Beg only Akaal Purkh and shouldn't be sitting idle by as Tyrants run rampant. We as Sikhs should be fighting them in any shape and form we can. I think I may have gotten some of the details mixed up but that's the main points of the story -Pandit does Pooja, tries to summon a goddess - tries foolishly to trick the 10th Master - fails and flees - Guru Sahib proves to us that we shouldn't be sitting around for someone else to vanquish our enemies, we should do it ourselves. there was an excellent post by another user that told this story very beautifully. I'll try and find it for you. Worshiping the Hindu Gods isn't same as worshiping Akaal Purkh. Gurbani made this clear and Guru Gobind Singh Ji (using the exact words of Waheguru thyself) further made the nature of these gods clear. Why they exist and what they are doing.

  14. When Purewal made his faulty calendar in 2003, were there not widespread of apostasy, massive human rights violations, drug taking and the spread of AIDS? This man with his arrogance has managed to split the Khalsa Panth in two. What was his and your camps need to take Sikhs away from the Bikrami Calendar that even the Gurus used and respected? The Khalsa Panth was united on the Bikrami Calendar since Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. Mother crying, families being ripped apart are only games for your camp and a good way to manipulate the average Sikh into saying those who followed their Gurus lead are wrong. Stop hiding behind your wifes salwar and be a man to face the Khalsa Panth.
