  1. Good one! shouldn't all the sikhs in Indian armed forces/police be resigning in protest against the treatment meted out to the sikhs? Why does some people want to walk two paths together i.e. helping a honest sikh in the jail for the past 17 years & continuing to serve the corrupt and impotent system? Some sikhs can always come up with strange suggestions! He just did his duty. it was illegal by Indian law to hang a prisoner in Punjab as the incident happened in the union territory Chandigarh.
  2. not to compare....but try making it on low heat and let it simmer. obviously you need to put lots of ingredients and right amount of water (if water is less or more than required it makes a big impact on the final DAAL).
  3. don't make it complex. 1. either you choose to stay within the legalities i.e. stay and work within that constitution and law. or 2. you simply don't follow i.e. Bhai balwant singh ji. the division amongst sikhs is like Bhai hawara/ Bhai Balwant. thinking matters. 1. you have large number of sikh troops (land, air and navy), police men, beurocrats & administrators, people living in other states from years. who will leave their posts like Mann did? they can't detatch themselves from india in a night. 2. "outlaws" considered like bhai balwant ji or Bhai hawara ji have their own differences -who will appeal and who will not? it is a matter of thinking whether to storm/ raid and get him out as an outfit OR appeal and fight in the Indian court of law.
  4. anyone who helps Bhai Jaspal's family is doing good whether it is Bhai ranjit singh, Akal Takht sahib or badals. he was the only son. shouldn't sikhs be advised to have more children? i mean at least 2-3. i am not of the same mentality as muslim preachers but after observing several deicated families to the sikh cause who have lost their only sons it was my initial thought.
  5. to my knowledge same goth are considered brothers and sisters as they come from same clan or tribe. long long time ago which you cant imagine when the clan/tribe started and when people travelled and started living at different places in punjab. we are beginning to question RULES, which makes us BAAGI.
  6. langar was started for two things- open/free community kitchen, making all equal. if you are young and have no issues in sitting on the floor then sit on the floor. if you are old, can't bend or disabled people, use chairs. no problem ji. by the way langar is simple food NOT fine dining. too many sabjis, sweets is distorting the shape and thought of langar. "swad"of different things is making it loose the appeal behind the whole concept.
  7. Can't cross border from Punjab or i should say don't try through punjab. might try from gujrat or rajasthan. good luck to their army.
  8. Excellent question Mehtab singh ji, the more we ask this question to everyone around us and to ourselves the more our qoum will progress. if i copy and paste from above to answer your question- to the peace keepers- Adopt village children and preach Gurbani e.g. pay fees if someone learns path and stays in sikhi swaroop. Start from the root level. They will one day grow up and join the administration to change things for Punjab. work within the legalities of Indian system and then realise your dream of Khalistan by propagating the thoughts about the cause e.g. work with punjab govt on development projects, consult rural people what their areas are lacking in and work on that etc. let me add- catch them young and start with the positives...... Lets work with them (people and partly administration) in punjab and NOT further tear apart our so called minority. this way is LONG.....BUT you will see the results. if you want it quick and doesn't care about bloodshed then "hot headed" advice is more suitable.
  9. Who will bell the cat? An old story which we all are familiar with features rats collectively thinking who will help by tying a bell in the cats neck so that we can be alerted when she is on the hunt. It is pertinent to note the ideology of some Sikhs who support Khalistan and who are propagating those thoughts again through different media. I want to ask people who support khalistan and criticise Badals – are they ready to go back and bell the cat? Old Khalistanis Sikh Channel discussions are the one to note in this regard. Many persons who have taken refuge in UK in 80’s and has run away leaving behind their brothers dead in encounters in Punjab. They sought refuge in several countries and never returned back to finish the fight. They have grown old but their ideology is still creating bitterness in the society. They might have influenced some young brains under their protégé but it is not far when youngsters will understand that those who don’t deliver and make sand castles. If someone can ask them why can’t they go back instead of discussing these issues on TV and sort it out their way? Go back and seek control of Sri Akal Thakt sahib ji because as per you it is under Badals at the moment. Go back and fight in SGPC elections to change things. It is funny that they talk about bringing all the Sikhs together except badals. Have Badals done anything right so far? Badals There are two types of Sikhs in Punjab- one who follow the constitution and one who not. Interestingly the second category is outnumbered and only selective fighters like Bhai Balwant singh ji emerge from time to time often from unknown quarters of the population to take up the cause. Those people never seek publicity or entertain public through media whether it is TV channels or newspapers. They “do” something rather than “discuss” something. Many people living abroad criticise Badals for their negative role in the previous matters. They are the ones who want to follow the constitution and have huge followers whether you agree or disagree. They know better than anyone else how things work in India. They played an important role to stop this hanging whether to save their own government or to save public getting butchered again by the Punjab police. They are the ones who can talk to the centre. Ask those who criticise Badals to go back and fight them in elections, seek public votes and then do things as they want. If their election deposit doesn’t get refunded I believe they won’t mind that. No point in maligning someone who is not even present in front of you to defend himself. Young Khalistanis Those born and bred in foreign nations need to first understand Punjab politics and read history through different point of views. Some of them go there for holidays only or for making a documentary which is different things. Giving your opinion here is different than facing the ire of Punjab police. If you sincerely want to take up the Khalistan issue, go and live with those people, seek their opinion and then try if you have guts to do something. I am 100% sure that some young khalistanis can't even sit together and get through a meeting? how will they run Khalistan? What is next? If you want to help genuinely to the peace keepers- Adopt village children and preach Gurbani e.g. pay fees if someone learns path and stays in sikhi swaroop. Start from the root level. They will one day grow up and join the administration to change things for Punjab. work within the legalities of Indian system and then realise your dream of Khalistan by propagating the thoughts about the cause e.g. work with punjab govt on development projects, consult rural people what their areas are lacking in and work on that etc. to the hot headed- start morchas to occupy Sri Akal Takht sahib, then change the way sgpc works, then declare khalistan. take the fight to the punjab police.i'm sure you can buy your ticket back to punjab asap. Lastly to Sikh Channel- Stop anyone who is blabbering rubbish on the air. good effort but try and get some different opinions. Fed up with the repetition of same thoughts....don’t you. Finally who will bell the cat? Ask oldie khalistanis sitting abroad with big smiles on their faces.....oh have they eaten their Weetabix anything else upsets their tummies.
  10. from the clip of that incident, most of the singhs had kirpans in their hands, they were obviously less than PP who were armed. someone fired but why did everyone started running? most PPs have only sticks in their hands. someone should have done "sawa lakh se ek laraun" and used their sri sahibs.they were in the battlefield.
  11. Punjab Govt. can- 1. Declare shiv sena as an outfit threatening peace and harmony in punjab & Ban the outfit them. 2. arrest prominent punjab leaders and instruct PP to beat the <banned word filter activated> out of them for 2-3 days. Sant Samaj/Panthic org/ sikhs worldwide can- 1. discuss True Khalsa in/out of punjab can- 1. release a note with pictures and addresses of all the prominent shiv sena leaders from major cities. 2. send them warning letters that they have been identified and dealt with shortly if they carry on.... 3. set an example by choosing 1-2 shiv sena local leaders and ............discussing this with them.
  12. Are we sikhs or kashmiri pandits? why? - asking different governments for help? - asking amnesty international for help? - asking Human rights for help? - asking Indian president for help? - asking local MPs, MEPs for help? -asking local population for help? -asking to carry out collective worship to protect us or him? or some for chardi kala? -asking for political asylum save ourselves? this to all those elders who have spent last 20-28 years away from Punjab. Kasmiri Pandits were doing exactly the same. they are still seeking justice to live in J&K. Are we not doing the same. what should a true sikh do in these circumstance?
  13. Is this true? SOHI from southall said that if Bhai Balwant singh Rajoana is hanged he will personally go to India to protest before the Parliament. He also said he would look after Shahid families financially and emotionally and promised Indian currency 10 lacs to Balwant singhs family. He said this to a group of youngsters after a late night party in Birmingham. Can someone verify if this is true? if this is true then I appreciate Mr SOHI's stand after a long silence on this matter.
  14. what were they doing for the last 17 years? they will have to answer this one day including badals, sgpc, sikh organisations which are based outside india.
  15. what about going to India and standing outside patiala jail? jithe aag lagi aa uthe koi ni janda...main vi ni! i think we need to start morchas like in olden days.
  16. badals are clever politicians. they escaped unhurt from whatever happened before. they want no trouble either from the centre (delhi govt) or from khalistanis. to do that- (a) badal went to see manmohan in new delhi to discuss how can they solve this issue of hanging bhai ji. (b) sukhbir asked jathedar akal takht sahib ji to see bhai ji and reqest him to appeal. but he refused. sukhbir don't want trouble in the state to start again. © sukhbir requesting central govt to transfer bhai ji to Burail jail chandigarh which will be done any minute. from unconfirmed sources near sukhbir. (d) congress wants people to think "oh" akalis are bad and they have done this to panth i.e. bhai jis hanging. akalis want no trouble in state. (e) Khalistanis, who escaped abroad, are thinking whether to keep on shouting "khalistan zindabad" in front of embassies and let bhai ji hang on 31st OR appeal as they all did to stay abroad during trouble in punjab and bhai ji can then get "life term" instead of fansi. (f) badals and congress controlling media in india not to make this news too hot. Meanwhile bhai ji is in high spirits and has put on weight (only second example like Kartar singh sarabha while all others lost weight as they neared the date).
  17. no other religion would have such mural inside their sacred place. .....huh!!! :happybouncer: ONLY sikhs allow these new ideas and then thoughts from them to propagate. we are OPEN to everyone and that is lovely. Have you read about entropy?
  18. I was wondering that Baba Nanak ji or any other Guru jis or any other great warriors didn't require any TV channels to promote Sikhism. why do we need these channels where they constantly ask for direct debits? shouldn't relgious sewa be free without any personal interests? it seems that some sikh businessmen have just fallen for a TV channel idea just like some other big religions. these channels look fake most of the times as the presenters talk nonsense. we have one large governing body (SGPC(Badal)) who could run many channels just for promoting gurbani .....only gurbani!!
  19. I am not questioning guru ji or akal purkhs wisdom here. keeping in mind the creation of army of khalsa at that time.....I understand why guruji demanded 5 heads. then he got five brave panj pyaras. why would guru ji then behead them and join the heads again? i mean whats the need? i mean what do you think is the logic behind this? they were already in front of guru ji to sacrifice their lives. i do not want to go into the debate whether they were goats or actually 5 pyaras. but why do you think guruji would do this to them?
  20. Guruji wanted to test the gun and they wanted to stand as targets. check general section-> gurbani veechar| articles|History
  21. i hope you have visited all of punjab .....i mean every historical gurdwara sahib. i don't think you have to worry about these checks there.
  22. I think "Bored" is the most educated amongst us here on this forum. don't compare religious freedom and religious extremism. wearing a kirpan(even if it is not concealed) is part of sikhism and never heard someones endangered life or threatened someone etc. as long as it is not a threat to anyone (so far) it should be allowed without discrimination. and REMEMBER CONCEALING A KIRPAN WOULD BE JUST LIKE ANYONE CONCEALING A KNIFE maybe for reasons not clear or evident and COULD BE TAKEN DIFFERENTLY BY THE PUBLIC. if you are showing that you are wearing it then it is no longer a surprise and should be acceptable to the general public (most of them know who sikhs are?) whereas shariah laws and the related extremism is very much evident and therefore being opposed.
  23. Sikhism is difficult (or very easy for some) religion in terms of rules and regulations for many in punjab i.e. whether it is keeping turban on or doing nitnem banis. Sikhism opposes "pujarivaad"(special class who pray for you but it has again become prevalent) and many other superstitious dogmas which still prevail in our society. whereas following a baba is much more easier option and with special favours they can/will pray for you to the almighty and take care of your problems. I have also heard that the babas in question make things easier for people by describing things in the most accepted format or as a concocted story so that people can buy into their ideas and ways to achieve hapiness (based on what many of these followers said to me).whereas gurbani is much more difficult to understand and follow for the common man i.e. the idea of self-study and self-restraints to lead pious life. the notion of having a supernatural power or a living person (same as a pundit) to help in distress (most people become followers when they are faced with severe problems in their personal life) OR the idea of attaching to a power-base nearby to gain some sort of personal satisfaction/favours or in many cases work ( yes, getting jobs and earining their livlihood through these deras....) some followers have been dissidents who simply opposed sikh way of life (the strict rules regarding alcohol/tabacco/un cut hair etc) and want to follow something different which also relates to the govt strategy to implant -ve "strains" in certain areas maybe to tackle extremism. Punjab is dominated by certain orgs/parties like RSS, shiv sena, BSP who have built their stronghold in cities especially and they promote most of these deras extensively which benefits their own agendas. above all levels of illeteracy has also played a significant role in this where people tend to follow the easier route and NOT study religious scriptures/ gurbani themselves(but rely on others). this gap is widening and is a major cause for concern in terms declining "youth" population in Gurdwaras. Once a dera becomes famous then its the vicious circle of vote bank and every state government start favouring them. bhul chuk maaf........................
