The Essence of Amrit Vela

Waking up early in the morning is amritvela and to understand the structure just visit darbar saheb after 12am  Timing doesn't matter to those who jap/remember waheguru in every breath of theirs(even they keep strict amritvela). While to most of us it should matter and teaches us the discipline. Whether sun rises or not... amritvela will always be there..

Working graveyard shifts is our own personal choice..

I believe that in sikhi everythign has a practical quality and a spiritual quality. Amritvela's practical quality, as has been noted, is that thats the time when it is silent and peacefull. However like i said I believe that it has a special spiritual meanign at that time. Now thats not to say there are powers just cause of the sunrise, its more that there are more blessings while doing simran at that time. For example, during sunrise those same blessings of amritvela arent there for someone out partying, neither is that practical aspect of the silence. So merely being awake at amritvela doesnt mean that its a blessing, you have to be doing the right thing i.e simran, and then that simran alone is what is affected by the blessings of the time, nothing else.

we need ekaant (silence, no distracitons) to concentrate, and early hours of the morning is the best time for it :TH: also, i personally love it when sun's barely up, and its kinda dark but u see a faint glow

PS. i'm known to sleep in mostly tho hit.gif

I agree, though its like I ever get up for amritvela, buh when i do it just wicked...

no.1 i feel great for actaully getting maself outa bed... no.2 its just me and waheguru on our own... no distractions...no.3 it feels good to be awake before the rest of the world.

It feels AMBROSIAL... anyone who hasnt tried it you can feel a certain feeling at that time of the day and its well worth getting up 4. Just gets you into the mood for doing hardcore abiyaas WAHEGURUUUU

waheguroo ji ka khalsa waheguroo ji ki fateh

returning back to the start of the post about amrit vela...

To me Amrit Vela is a must and should be done in the Early hours between 1-6am

why i say this is because you drag your self out the bed over come your mind, tell your mind to hav ishnaan and read some bani..

i have a this lil story to share with the sangat... i was once talkin to a chardi kalah gursikh about amrit vela and we was discussing

similar things about amritvela- when you get up in the morning between 1-6am your awake and doing bani/simran, the singh then said just imagine you are building a boat for your self ... the moree banii and simran you do the stronger your boat gets... its early morning your not in a rush your takin ur time and putting alot of pyaar into your bani there for your boat is going to be very durable and strong. the more bani you do and simran the bigger your boat will be and strongerr....

now for the manmukhs like me who get up at 10am or weneva we quickly rushhh to the bathroom-- get out the bath asap grab a gutka n smash your nitnem in 30mins flat and in ur mind your thinkin 'ooh i gota go work im gettin late etc' now les go back to our boat. its going to be rushed when building it its not goin to be durable and you going to have to put it out to sail stright awai you wouldnt have no time to sparee... and your boat will have holes init and when you go out to sea your boat will wouldnt feel the same as in if you made that boat in the earlyer hours of dawn... the gurmukh of waheguroo who gets up and builds his boat in the early hours and sets him self out to sea ready for the whole dai apon him/her is the 1 who will not sinkk in the sea... the manmukh who gets up late leaves mahraj outside in the cold until hes forfilled all his sleep and then starts making his boat n goes out to sea will sink in the middle of the sea!

bhul chuk maaf karo -

Wahegurooo ji ka Khalsaaa Waheguroo ji ki Fatehhhh!

At this point we once again delve into the mysterious notions of willpower and fate. On the one hand, we have the fact that everyone is responsible for their own actions. On the other hand, nothing is out of the reach of God and all is in his will. After all, "So kare je thisae rejai". You could easily make an argument that by going to the north pole and working graveyard shifts to examine ice cores and oxygen levels or what not, you made the concious decision to take the job. Or did you? Quite possibly it was God's will that sent you on this specific life path, and God knew full well that you would end up at the north pole trying to earn a living. Confused? You aren't alone. The simple answer is the needed one, and the simple answer is to go with the flow and do what you can do to retain as much of the rehat that you've set for your self. Do what's comfortable for you and examine what you're doing to see if you believe it's right in your rehat. Often this is the hardest part, because it has to be done objectively. Personally I'd agree with Bhajneet on the basis that this isn't a usual case and it isn't usual timings. Working graveyard shifts in the north pole is far from usual, and as such deserves to be considered with thought and not just as someone's excuse for not being able to wake up and go to sleep like the rest of the world.

P.S. (There's no land in the North Pole, what's the guy doing up there anyway?)
