I also play the tabla. A good way to strengthen the hands is to (might sound a bit stupid but it works) position your knees as you would position the tabla and practice on your knees. As your knees are harder than the tabla skins, your hands will become accustomed to playing. Also the more you practice, the stronger your hands and fingers will become.

Playing the tabla effectively comes with time. Don't expect to be able to play perfectly in a short space of time. I've been playing the dholki for about 8-10 years and the tabla for about 6 and I still have a few things to master!

The tabla is so perfect in accompaniment to singing Shabad's.

it's nothing to do with stronger your hands or like that..

u need to know the right way to play the tabla, and u will not worry about whether ur hands are strong or not strong because you will just play with the waves flowing around the beats.

Instead on concentrating making ur hands stronger put ur energy to learn to play with the soft hands and still make it sound awesome. May be u need some classess from me
