Calgary Sangat is Amazing!!! I would suggest you move somewhere near the Gurudwara. Martindale, saddleridge and areas surrounding them. There are several new neighborhoods around the Gurudwara, and housing in calgary is VERY cheap compared to other large cities. You get a new house made for about $250, 000 - $300,00, and the same house would cost almost $500,000 in places like surrey.

But the difference between Calgary and edmonton is that although edmonton may have alot of punjabi people, it has VERY few young Amritdhari Gursikhs. i always wondered why it is like that, since it is so close to calgary, which has ALOT of Gursikhs. I know somwe people from edmonton and they always telling me how there are hardly any youth there who keep hair/ have taken Amrit. But in Calgary...its a whole different story!!!

Tell people a bit more about your preferences. Do you want to settle where you will ultimately have a family? Do you want to go to a place where you will be surprising people that you can speak english. Is type of work relevant? Do you want to be real cold or real real cold?

Why Alberta?

I won't have many answers but it's a big decision so with some more info maybe you can get more feedback here. If you are thinking the two major cities people list here, go and stay in each for a short while if you are able.

There must be some sites for rental and real estate market that someone can post here that would help. Not always the rule, but keep in mind wages can mimick house prices.

You want to compare wages to cost of living rather than just look at cost of living alone. Find out about the market for the type of job you are seeking. You don't want to live in city x because housing is cheaper to find out that although housing is slightly more in city y, pay for your line of work is 50% more.

and really good question above is where do you live now?
