Darbar Sahib is not a movie set and we wont' allow it to become one.

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VAHEGUROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! :@ :D :@

They have used it to show some people visiting the Darbar Sahib. Nothing wrong with that. If they did a 20 minute bhangra show or 10 minute fight scene in the complex then yes that would be wrong.

I did not see any of you complaining when Raj Babbar was using the Darbar Sahib sarovar for the shooting of the Shaheed Udham Singh film or when Gurdas Mann was filming Ucha Dar Baba Nanak Da.

I bet if they had made a Gurdwara set in filmicity then you guys would also be complaining. Just no pleasing some people.

141496

One Word Comes to Mind ...BEADBI! WE EVEN TRIED TO STOP A FILM SHOOTING TAKIN PLACE IN SOUTHALL GURDWARA BUT THE COMITTEE....WHATEVERRR THEY ARE .......NO COMMENT!

And BTW CHECK THE TRAILER....SEE THE BEADBI AND THEN DECIDE WHAT ARE YOU!......GURU JI'S PUTH OR OTHERWISE!

Happy Viewing :@

141501

They all have their heads covered in the sarovar. I also do not see them wearing shoes, smoking or drinking alcohol in the sarovar so where is the beadbi ?

Was you there during the shooting ? Did you see them doing beadbi ? If yes then please tell us what beadbi was done. If not then stop making things up as telling lies is against Sikhi. If you insist on writing half truths then check out the basic princliples of Sikhi and decide what you are, Guru Ji's daughter or a liar !

How many wedding film makers have you stopped from shooting in a Gurdwara ? They do beadbi, they treat the Anand Karaj as a scene for a movie and ask for poses etc in front of Guru Ji.

Also stop writing in capitals. It is considered RUDE.

141538

SAY nothing about my writing....THAS irrelevant....and necessary in certain situatuions to get ur POINT ACROSS......USUALLY me dont so THERE! :@

BEADBI....Now have u seen them running out like they on a beach or sumthin! vahegurooo...

AND the perosnal attacks to me...LIAR AND WHAT NOT......I dont care...I dont care if you call me anything (what are we?!!!) AS long as GURU MAHARAJ JI is not disrespected. PERIOD!

141543

Is there now a special code of conduct for getting out of the sarovar ? Does it matter about the speed you get out of a sarovar ? I guess most GurSikh who go to Hemkunt Sahib violate your Sarovar exit standards.

As for the liar comment. If you can accuse others of beadbi without proving a thing then yes I will use the liar tag whether you like it or not. Your last post shows exactly what little evidence you have of beadbi.

Come on show me how Guru Ji has been disrespected and also what you do to stop camera men at weddings treating a Gurdwara as a studio set.

The time has come for you to prove the beadbi in the clip. I have seen many people getting out of sarovar quickly, I have seen some children who like to use the sarovar as a swimming pool (go to sarovar at Rara Sahib Gurdwara during the Summer and see for yourself). I guess like me they will not meet your high exacting standards of using a Sarovar. At one Gurdwara I saw frogs jumping in and out of the Sarovar, I guess they were also doing beadbi by quickly jumping in and out.

From the trailers it doesnt seem any beadbi has been done.... but have to see the movie itself to see if they did something more than that....... There is beadbi done to gurughars all around the globe by sikhs themselves. And in my opinion instead of bickering among ourselves, we should rather concentrate and raise our voice against other issues facing sikhs. We should have a vocal forum to be heard by people. We need our own media outlet, instead of relying on zee tv, sony, alpha etc.

As for this movie..... wait and watch

Darbar Sahib should not become a set for movies.

The first consideration is practical: doing these movie shoots with big "stars" requires that the parkarma be closed off to the Sangat. Sometimes access to Darbar Sahib is limited. This is not acceptable.

Secondly, the scenes of Aamir Khan bathing in the sarovar are purely commercial. This is a commercial use of the sarovar. It is a business-exploitation of the sarovar. These actors aren't really doing an ishnaan in the real sense of that word, they are doing a fake. They do the same scenes of ishnan over and over like it's a swimming pool. Allowing movies and business to make such use of the sarovar is trivialising the importance. Don't forget that this sarovar was dug by Guru Arjan Dev himself and was coloured red by the blood of our Shaheeds on more than a few occassions. Should this same sarovar now be used so that Aamir Khan can make a movie about youth angst and their touring Punjab?

Then there were the comparisons made. I'll go through them here:

Bathing kids or frogs: I don't see how this situation is akin to Aamir Khan filming his commercial video. The kids are innocent and are having fun. Granted they should be told this is not a swimming pool, but the seriousness of the breach is very different. Some kids can be ignored and the parbandhaks don't know about this. A movie set coming in is something that requires notice to the Committee and they don't have innocent intentions, they're there to use/exploit the sarovar to make a good scene in what will hopefully be a profitable movie.

The movie itself is not educational or dharmic. It is designed to entertain and make money. Is Darbar Sahib a venue for a spectacle?

Next you brought up the beadbi done by video photographers. I agree with you 100 %. Videos made in the darbar should be made with total respect to Guru Sahib and the sangat. But even that video is different than this. That video is filming a true event of a couple genuinely performing a sanskaar in Guru Sahib's hazoori. It's not fake. It's not a drama. It's also not for profit. In this case, the ishnaan is fake, it is not done with spiritual intentions, and it is in fact to make money. If this fake ishnaan is acceptable, then according to that same logic, fake anand kaarajs in gurdwaras should be acceptable as well.

My objection is to the exploitation of the sarovar for personal profit. This seems clearly wrong, and I feel it should be stopped. Especially in the case of the Bollywood industry which has values compeltely inconsistent with Sikhi.

Is it not the responsibility of the SGPC to make sure no beadbi is taking place? I’m sure ‘Bollywood’ actors/producers/directors can’t just turn up one day and start shooting, if shooting has been allowed then was it discussed with the SGPC, if so then if there has been any beadbi done, is that not the fault of SGPC and not the director (who may be none the wiser) etc?

I believe it is up to us to educate people if they make mistakes and to educate people in advance so that mistakes need not be made.

Its up to the people allowing this to take place to make sure it is done in a respectful and responsible manner – that is if it is actually respectable to allow this to happen. The example of video’s made during Anand Karaj’s are not a drama, well in some cases they are as how many people taking part really know what’s going on and are ‘genuinely performing a Sanskaar in Guru Sahib's hazoori’ but that’s a different issue in regards to this topic.

I’m not implying that its ok for anyone to go around shooting films in Maharaaj’s Darbar, but if it is done and beadbi is taking place in the process, is it not the fault of the people who allowed it (i.e. SGPC) and is it not their responsibility to make sure the ‘visitors’ know about etiquette and how to act in a respectful and dignified manner?

Apologises in advance for any mistakes.

Filming the Anad Karaj ceremony has become commercial and a mere drama. The photographers charge per shot so they try and get as many shot as they can. The camera wale interfere with the Anand Karaj, they treat the guru Ghar as a studio set just so they can get a few shots. They ask the couple to pose etc.

To date no one has proven that any beadbi was done in the shooting of the Sarovar scene. The only thing one person has come up with is that they rush out of the Sarovar.

What difference does it make whether the film is dharmic or educational. All films are produced to make money. Many scenes for Ucha Dar Baba Nanak Da were filmed in Gurdwara, it was not a dharmic film it was just a big family intrigue/love story. Maachis was not a dharmic film but had clips shot at Gurdwara.

If you want to be concerned about beadbi concern yuorself with the vulgar Punjabi music video VCD which are sold outside Gurdwara in Punjab. Just go to Takht Keshgarh Sahib and venture into the shops and see what items you can buy. Is it not beadbi to sell vulgar anti Gurmat items from Gurdwara property ? The sarovar scene of this film pales into insignificance compared to the real beadbi being done in out Guru Ghar.

soz dint read most replies but will say its good to show Guru Ji's gurdwara Sahibs in films, raises awareness of us sikhs and so it cant be all bad.

but i can see where ppl are coming from when they against sarovar ishnaan by bollywood heros cos sarovar is respected so much and should be , but these ppl are not going to care about anything when they do ishnnaan but the pose lol can u imagine how sikhs next to them must be feeling.

imagine this- ur doing ishnaan and do paath as u in sarovar.

but the next person is there with make up all sorted and trying to act religious but dont give a penny what he on about.

really makes u sad to see, and i would be angry if i was there, dunno about anyone else though.

I totally agree that if some beadbi did took place (which i dont think), it was SGPC's fault.... coz everything that happens in and arund Darbar Sahib is done with hteir permission.

As for stopping sangat in parikarma is wrong, if that happened..... Also on other note... whenever a VIP makes trip to darbar sahib, he/she is escorted by SGPC people, bypassing all the sangat.... is that not BEADBI?

Same VIPs do ishnaan, not to wash off their sins or anything, but just to show off to people...is it not beadbi?

We have seen many keertanis doing keertan just for commercial purposes, and some even jumping to sing songs to earn more money......

Also SGPC does not allow sangat to take cameras and camcorders inside darbar sahib, but themselves give permission to TV Channel people to in there next to guruji for filming.... its strange.... when the devout sangat could not get near guruji, these tv people, most of them not even sikhs stand there..... Its all for money.... SGPC gets money from these tv channel people..... and sangat instead of getting their own pictures has to buy them from these people.......

I feel we jump to conclusions too soon.... seeing a hindu or someone from other religion taking ishnaan in sarovar does not lead to beadbi...... from the clip/trailer i dont feel any grave beadbi has been done..... but i cant tell for sure if they havnt done it in some other part of movie....So far we havnt heard of any complaints from sangat that they were stopped from doing parikarma while the shooting was on for the movie. Infact there was no complaint about anything so far

My point is just because some movies did show disrespect towards sikhi , we should not jump to conclusions about other movie doing same. To me respect for guruji is utmost, but then you cant have 2 different set of rules for sikhs and non sikhs.
