Why aren't Sikhs allowed to use foul words or swear?

think about it this way...

how can you use the same tongue for reading the truth (bani) and then swear?? falseness and truth don't mix...u've got to pick one or the other...

Okay, I admit I swear everyday atleast once by saying the "s"word. What's funny is that I know 5 amritdhari guys who are well versed in Sikhism and they swear uncontrollably. This is sad because they are amrit, and thus should act like amritdhari's with respect to their choice of vocabulary.

But, swearing is a part of everyday life. If you accidently drop something on your foot are you going to yell out ""waheguru waheguru?" No, you are most likely going to yell out some PUnjabi/English swear word. The most common choice of word for this type of scenario is probably the ''s" word.

This brings another interesting point. When you are amritdhari you are not neccessarily a "full" amritdhari because most of them do swear in one way or another.

Yes, YES!!! Say it, SAY IT!!! Heck, if that is what it takes to say Waheguru, then drop a tavaa on your foot every second!!!

"When you are amritdhari you are not neccessarily a "full" amritdhari because most of them do swear in one way or another. "

Amrit is not a one way ticket into SachKhand. It is admission into school to get to SachKhand. Some people are freshman and some are seniors. And a few lucky ones actually graduate.

Now, where's that tavaa...?
